I think Nicky Butt is quite a good comparison actually, in terms of level rather than style necessarily. McTom is a nice squad option with a seemingly great attitude, but shouldn't be relied on to carry a midfield.

Mctominay isn't even as good as Cleverley was, not even close to Butt.

What are we thinking for today same as Brighton I’d suggest, Ronaldo is obviously going to start so no point peddling the Bruno centre forward stuff..

An unconvincing 3-1 win with Dan James on the scoresheet…

Nicky was a far better player than Scott and would easily be our best midfielder today. Butt was competing directly with Scholes and was holding his own until they were in their mid 20's (ie. the same age Scott is now). Could you see McTominay ever being picked ahead of Scholes?

Leeds are an atrocious club. They’re the only club who when a portion of the fan base sing about the Munich Air Disaster, it’s the vast majority rather than minority. Then you have Don Revue’s dirty Leeds and the fans wrecking Manchester back in August and everything. I can’t stand anything about them except Dan James, Rio Ferdinand and Alan Smith plus a few others.

    DDG
    Dalot Lindelof Varane Telles
    McT
    Bruno Pogba
    Sancho Ronaldo Elanga

Leeds 0-3 United. Ronaldo to score and siuuuu in front of the Leeds fans, Bruno to cup his ears and Pogba to dance. Something like that will do.

Since we have a big European game coming up on Wednesday, don't you all think we should rest a few of our key players against Leeds?

No bitching about Leeds suddenly becoming game raising pricks. It’s United’s job to go there today and for once not allow a relegation-threatened club to get their home fans very excited.

Some of you will get a shock with the reception we get today.

That wouldn’t make much difference on Wednesday because most of our players are either shite, weak-minded, or both.

Really hope we can see Rashford playing on the left from the start and for a run of games so:

    DDG

    AWB
    Varane
    Maguire
    Shaw

    Fred
    McT
    Bruno

    Sancho
    Ronaldo
    Rashford

Weather is saying 40-50mph winds in Leeds. Could be a factor in that stadium.

Typical that yesterday was a break in the stormy weather but now it's back again.

Nick butt held his own with some of the best midfielders of his generation.

Fair enough. I was quite young at the time but remember him as being a reliable workhorse type, but then I suppose context is everything.

The conditions could play a big part in the game, heavy rain and 40-50mph winds is gonna make it difficult to play and there will be a fair few mistakes with relation to the conditions.

The conditions will act as a little bit of a leveler and it will come down to the team that copes with them best.

There's going to be so much hatred and bile which will be celebrated as passionate support.

Yes more games for Rashford is exactly what we need .

    Serious question... why?

Do you genuinely think that Rashfords issue is game time?

Confidence and game time yes. The guy has had an operation this year and understandably hasn’t been at his best. I want him given time and support as I regard him as far more talented than any of our other wide forward options, including Sancho. Getting him back to his level of a couple of seasons back and getting Sancho used to playing on the right would be absolutely ideal for a new manager next season.

Although it pains to write this, but Salah and co. really showed some steel against a Norwich side that really worked hard and showed steel. We’ll need all our backbones to stand up to the Leeds players and their supporters. Anything but a win is a disaster

I guess you could class him as that as he wasn't world class or anything, but the key is that he was good at that role. Off the top of my head he'd be more Jordan Henderson level rather than Scott McTominay level. Not as good a long passer as Henderson, but I'm tempted to say a better short passer. A player who by himself wouldn't lift a team to greatness, but who is good enough to play his part at a top team with the right system. Scott, without wanting to get too into it, isn't.

Some of you will get a shock with the reception we get today.

I had an argument with most of the forum about Phillips joining Man Utd, I said it would never happen and was told there is no rivalry with Leeds

This is definitely not the case. Nicky Butt was a really really good player and would have been a first team regular if not for the fact we had Keane and Scholes who were world class at the time. Regardless Butt could play and run a midfield which is something McTominay just isn't capable of, at least to the level we need.

Hostile crowd, horrible weather, the kind of situation our players wilt under. Could be miserable this.

Jesse starting apparently - guessing ahead of rashford on the right.
Don’t rate Jesse at all, but right now we have no other options and Rashford shouldn’t be near the starting line up. Least you’ll get work rate from Lingard.

Lingard proved at West Ham he’s a good player when motivated in a counter attacking side. He could be very useful today in transition if Leeds play their normal crazy football.
