McTominay's good games are amazing but they're few and far between. Overall he's just too inconsistent, five 6/10's then a 10/10 out of nowhere and back to 6/10's again. Butt was a superior player, even benched Scholes at times. I could never see Scholes benched for McTominay.Varane

Resting players for Champions League?How the feck is AWB and Lingard both starting ? Why did AWB gained his position immediately and what's the rationale of throwing Lingard suddenly in such tie ?
The way he plays, he really should only be an impact sub when we are chasing a goal and want to throw the kitchen sink. Absolutely impossible for a team to have any control of the midfield with Bruno’s headless chicken play.Varane and Dalot clearly being saved for the Atletico game.No Fred is a surprise even considering how bad he was against Brighton.

I think a lot of people have forgot this. Varane seems pretty injury prone so saving him makes sense.
Don't know why this doesn't occur to people. Good decision by Ralf, I too was considering putting AWB and Lingard in my starting XI but didn't. I imagine Ronaldo wouldn't have started as well, but there is no one else.Varane must have some niggling issues. Because we have a squad to use and its best to use it so we don't use the same 11 players over and over and completely exhaust them especially when we have a CL games coming up. People always are outraged by changes like why bother having a squad if we aren’t going to use it
