Latest Transfer Murmurings | Post all of your blatant lies in here

Our record with ITK's has been generally been shocking over the years. A lot of people ended up with egg on their faces from what I remember. Wasn't there a West Ham lad on here 5 or 6 years ago that called a few transfers right?

Well I don't know if this is a transfer rumor but according local ITK from Barcelona the ground is shaking under Sandro Rosell. There are strong rumors that Juan Laporta is behind a group, who's including local bank and business leaders, influential politicians and some of the clubs biggest sponsors, who's trying to find a candidate to challenge Rosell.

My friend who have for six years been co-operating with Barcelona's youth academy have close connections to some members around Laporta. Today he's running a youth project with one of Premier League's top four clubs. I can't tell the name of the club because of contract restrictions but for those interested it's a similar project to our Manchester United Premier Cup together with Nike. My friend knows I'm a huge United supporter and FWIW he have been contacted by United for co-operation in Scandinavia. According to him their financial offer was to low to be competitive but I have told him to continue to negotiate and put me in charge when the deal is done :smirk:

But back to topic. Don't be surprised if something happened regarding Rosell and Barcelona. According to him Guardiola's departure was a sign that something is going on behind the scenes. Future will tell...

Kagawa seems a more likely Fergie target though. Someone who wont break our measly transfer budget and that City have no interest in

We could get Kagawa for virtually nothing if we offered up Berba in exchange.

Borussia couldn't afford Berbatov's wages anyway. They will have to improve a few contracts and since nearly going bankrupt a few years ago they'll be much more careful with finances. Unless we offer to pay a part of his wages like Real did when they offloaded Raul to Schalke, they won't be interested.

He'd be out of contract and would have to renegotiate wages with whoever takes him on.

Yes, but there will be richer teams willing to take him - Inter could do with a forward like him, Milan won't be out of running if they let Ibrahimovic go, perhaps Spurs will try. Then again a return to Leverkusen has been mentioned and Borussia could match them easily.

He is though, or I've missed the news about him signing an extension.

Dont they have Reus and Lewandowski? Would they want another striker?
With Barrios having left to sign for the newly-rich Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande, they are in need for a second lone-striker who can play second fiddle to Robert Lewandowski.

Wages would be a problem though, so a deal is unlikely.

We had an automatic renewal in his contract according to Sir Alex, which must've been activated by now.

We activated his year extension option in order to get a transfer fee. Saf confirmed it a couple months ago.

I cannot understand that logic. We have kept a player we could have sold last summer and not used him, just so we can get a fee for him?

Surely his worth would have been higher as the joint PL top scorer? I think it's very strange management to keep a player you have no intentions of using just for a few extra quid. Are we really that short of funds?

If accounts were true, PSG were willing to offer £18m for him last summer. Why not take that and buy someone who we could have gained some benefit from on the pitch? Some truly bizarre logic at OT these days regarding transfers imo.

Berbatov's handling has indeed been bizarre. We don't know the ins and outs of it but from our point of view it sure looks like he hasn't been treated all to well.

The theory is that we kept him as insurance in case Danny dipped, or Chicharito ate a bad burrito.

We haven't had to deal with losing Rooney for much of this year, I don't remember him getting injured but maybe there was 1 or 2 short ones. Welbeck went down for a short time but Rooney and Chicharito were there for cover. But all it will take is an injury to either today and Berbatov will be on the pitch.

The last few years we've needed our 4th and sometimes 5th striker in the league, I guess that's one position we had some injury luck this season.

Apparently Fergie has given some interview which implies we should expect a reasonable a level of activity in the transfer market this summer.

This passage is from an article in The Mirror

“We’ll assess where we are going in terms of players,” Ferguson said. “We’ll no doubt be bringing players in. Maybe two or three, who knows? It depends on the type of market we’re dealing with and player availability. But Scholes and Giggs are coming to the end so it’s a fact that we have to guard against that. It’s difficult to think you can get a Giggs or Scholes falling off trees.

“Tom Cleverley has got fantastic potential and Michael Carrick has still got years left in him. But we’ll probably add someone to the squad.

Looks like we are after a midfielder after all.

Is that this years "no value in the market"?

Typical Fergiespeak on transfers nothing definite or concrete.

he said we will sign kids who can develop in the club because we are good at that.

Very strange and unproductive theory imo. Even stranger given the fact when Danny's form did dip, Berba still wasn't used!

Great player wasted really. What gets me is how many times we played him when he looked slow and off the pace, and this season he looked leaner and more determined and we use him even less than before!

Baffling to me Will im afraid, just can't see the benefit or the logic behind keeping him.
