Anyway, modric. Some of this is common knowledge. Chelsea were trying to get modric last summer. I'm not really sure why but Daniel levy hates Chelsea and was super keen not to sell to them. Essentially modric said that he only wanted to go to Chelsea so we didn't follow it up. We asked to be kept informed in future. Anyway, spurs have intimated to us that he would be available for the right price this summer and there's a suggestion that the player would be more open to coming to us. However, united are very very wary of getting into negotiations with spurs because levy just never blinks.

I guess it's not really a corker of a story, but I think the jist is that modric is available at the right price and obviously less than last year and that we'd like him but it would be really complicated to pull off.

I'm going to get pelters for that but it is what it is!

Interesting to see who Modric moves to as it seems a certainty he moves on this summer. The last midfielder we bought from Spurs worked out well ( although that has been a debated topic!)

A move to Chelsea depends on whether they win CL - if they do, he will have to leave Spurs who will be without CL football and Chelsea will be a very likely destination. If they don't, I can't see him moving between those two clubs as it'd make little sense even though long term Chelsea are obviously a better prospect.

This is true. I used to work for a large spread betting company as a broker. Generated a lot of contacts from it, and heard a lot of stuff.

I got a bit happy with the information, and told people on here two things. One that we were signing Carrick well before we did, and the other that we'd gone for Senna as a fall-back to the Hargreaves deal. I ended up getting bollocked for the Senna news. This was pre-Twitter obviously.

Nowadays its impossible to sift through the bullshit online, and I'm not party to much info anymore, but I can tell you for sure that RedRichio's info about Modric is not accurate.

So which central/defensive midfielder are we speculated with, if any? The modric part seems interesting. I doubt Martinez is a realistic target. M'Villa seems Arse bound. How bout the likes of Tiote or Fellani?
 
Why is that? I'm not saying you're wrong. It wouldn't be very exciting for my mate to make up. Regardless of what ive been told I can imagine modric moving on this summer. I'd have thought that if Chelsea get in the cl theyll be at the head of the queue. I can't see bale leaving.

They are a better long term prospect. You know with Spurs that CL is just one off, they won't win it and they won't qualify on a regular basis. Redknapp will probably lose the plot and be off in a few months which will make them even less stable. That and more money at Chelsea.
 
Why can't it work? Does this stop him from posting in anyway?

People are going to be skeptical, and loads won't believe him, or take it seriously. He'll have to accept that which I'm sure they all do, given they can't prove the information anyway so it's all based on faith.

Why is it a certainty?

If Spurs qualify for the CL - which remains a big IF for the moment - then I'd see Modric departing as being far from a certainty.
 
This is only from speculation at the time but didn't modric say he didn't want to move his family from London or am I imagining that? If so that's fair enough I reckon.
