Awesome. between this, GoT and Silicon Valley, HBO make my Monday evenings a happy place.Ahh excellent, I wondered if he'd cover Brexit this week.
Not gonna watch that, will watch the full show when I get home but looking forward to his view!
@Cina
Was going to say pretty much exactly this, it was hilarious and scary at the same time.This week's episode was amazing. I was both laughing and going "what the feck" at the RNC segment.
It's not exactly Last Week Tonight, but...
Newt Gingrich I think it was? Absolutely insane. The woman interviewing him could barely believe it.That interview segment in which politician completely ignored the facts and put his whole emphasis on faith was absolutely incredible.

Don't know her. Do you have a few good clips you could post?This show is good, but I find Samantha Bee's shows better. MY favorite political satire show since Stewart called it a day.
I think he started out in stand-up and did Mock The Week a few times before moving to the US.Did this guy ever do anything in the UK? I don't remember him at all.

I don't remember him doing it, just remember reading about his past at some point.Probably why I don't remember him!

I don't know, the few clips I watched Bee is very "in your face". Maybe that's why I've always liked Stephen Colbert playing Stephen Colbert better.
I think that John Oliver became too caricature now, always shouting and swearing, but this one is on another level. So feignedI think that is the point, it's called "Full Frontal with...". She is aggravated, unabashed & in your face; almost ranting. The content is well researched and the jokes are subtle. I quite enjoy it. I can also see how some people might find it annoying.
Yeah he seems really fed up of constantly showing us how utterly awful the man is and yet it doing nothing and him growing stronger and stronger. Almost sounded like a defeated man last night.Sounded genuinely affected by Trump's nomination and didn't even bother about trying to sound funny.

I'm not British but I found it appalling when the shouting and swearing isn't genuine and is used just for a shock/comical effect. It's funny the first time, less so the second - but when you know that there would be affectation in every episode it loses all the comical valueIs it a British thing to not like a little bit of shouting and swearing? I'm genuinely curious because I don't think John Oliver is too caricature haha
Holy hell, just watched it now and yea very much this.Sounded genuinely affected by Trump's nomination and didn't even bother about trying to sound funny.
that was brilliantI did love the "Holy shit, he used a leaflet for the constitution as a middle finger" bit though

At the end especially, when talking about Trump's response to Khizr Khan, he just seemed genuinely angry and even upset at the state of affairs. Understandably as well I might add.
