These reinforcements prove it was way too easy to get hold of the very top quality. It's good that it is spread around, but with the first 8 rolls 3 could get Pelé and 4-5 could get Maradona. And they didn't even get him because Messi, Ronaldo, etc. were available :wenger:

It depends pretty much on luck mate. MJJ/Viva landed on 13 so that meant only one reinforcement while others can reinforce two positions with two top quality picks.

It's always hard to fit #10 in reinforcements as that position is already filled with top quality as it is probably where the you can put the best players historically(Maradona, Pele, Cruyff, Zico, Platini, Zidane, Di Stefano, Charlton) - that's even with omitting some of the big names and there are 8 teams left to reinforce.

If I got Maradona in my turn that would mean I have to pick a striker that could also stretch the play- that means no Van Basten or Muller in terms of top choices and no Eusebio as it will be a tough sell as a false nine and leading the line, which limits a lot of the choices and you can't be sure where you will land next.

Then there's you most probably have to play with two holding midfielders to accommodate him, no Pele, Di Stefano and the likes otherwise they will clash and with a built team it's harder to fit him in terms of balance. Not to take away anything from him - he's pretty much an upgrade to any player, but it's hard enough to fit him and look good.

Looking at the board probably the toughest choice is to get a top class defender as it's most limited in terms of boxes. I'm glad I've got a complimentary partnership in the center and a great left/center'ish one in Schnellinger, otherwise even tho I landed in two excellent boxes I'd be in deep shit in terms of defensive line for this round compared to the others.

No need to explain the complexity of fitting an embarrassment of riches.

I'm just pointing out something that seemed abundantly clear to me within 2-3 rounds: whoever prioritised (and lucked into) the great defenders would be better set up as there were zillions of attacking options and these would get renewed in reinforcements.

E.g. Aldo would have struggled to reinforce in the same way MJJ did jumping from Overath to Di Stefano.

It's a shame the Three Amigos went out, I can picture you all salivating at their spoils and already knowing each and every box you need to land on.

@DavidG is laughing, although it will be very difficult to improve without radically changing his setup. Just 1-2 upgrades left for him here.

I should be laughing... except that I could have the exact same team WITH Garrincha in it as Didí is now warming my bench because he didn't like soiling his shirt.

Yeah a bit of combination of both - you need some good rolls to get to those defenders as not many boxes are for them, then you need to get past the first round against an opponent that is top heavy in attack.

All things consider d I think the draft turned pretty well balanced regardless of mainly depending on luck.

Looking at those eight teams I'd say they are all quality ones that will contribute to some tight games.

BTW how is your team looking like now?

I really wanted Makelele. That was all I was hoping for. The 12 boxes after #13 wouldn't have yielded much improvement for my starting XI.
 
Stupid question: what value is to have a 'pass option'?
