Sunday is good.

Might as well state right now that I'm not exactly 100% committed to this team: Doesn't feel like a proper team to me - a bit too randomly assembled. An exhibition match vibe to it, I reckon.

Still, there is at least one thing I'd like to see people's comments on, so I'll just throw out the XI and let people do that.

We probably all share some of that feeling to be honest. But then it is also interesting to have players you won't choose yourself usually and stick up for them.

From a quick look your team looks really well balanced with quality spread all across the park and no particular clashes of GOATs which could happen in this sorta draft and probably will with some other teams. Very possibly the best pair of fullbacks as well. The Encyclopedia and Pupi. :drool:

Oh, yes - not complaining about the players: The quality is obviously there, and I didn't end up picking anyone I positively dislike either.

It's more the format itself. For me it played out like this: After I landed Di Stefano the whole thing became about building a team around him – which is fine, no issue with that, and something I haven't done before either. But – and that's the downside: The best part of drafting, viz. to plan ahead, look at different options and strategies, trying to guess who the others will go for, etc.; that all goes out the window.

That's no slight on the concept itself – and the way it was done, in practice, with the board and all, was great. It's just that you don't get the feeling of having drafted your own team – and with that comes a certain detachment (obviously).

Having said all that, I'm actually quite pleased with the XI I ended up with (or the one I'll go for in all probability). Not 100% by any stretch, but I got the player types I wanted, more or less.

Pretty much exactly the same for me.

I picked Pelé when I pretty much had a free pick from SAM, and I of course had to think about Diego, Garrincha, Ronaldo and the rest. What made me so instantly go with Pelé was apart from the fact me regarding him as the greatest ever in an all time pool, he's definitely the GOAT who is the easiest to mesh in with other ones, which is something that is pretty important in this draft. My attack actually ended up as being built around van Basten than Pelé but as he always did in a team of great players, he would do nothing but elevate it. In a concept like this where you don't know what you'll end up with having that sort of adaptability is pretty important.

I've come to like the team I built eventually, actually. Almost every player is playing for me for the first time ever which is nice to have.
