La Liga 2024/25

It looks like Barca won't be able to register Dani Olmo for La Liga which means he can leave for free just six months after the club paid €60M for him.

I'm a bit surprised that I haven't seen any reports on what this could mean for Barca financially. Accounting wise, a player fee is activated and depreciated over the contract duration, usually 5 years which means they planned with €12M annual costs. So in case of Olmo leaving, they would lose €48M more than they planned and since we all now their financial struggles, one would think this could be the nail in their coffin in terms of FFP and La Liga's own regulations but there are literally no reports about such implications?

I am completely uneducated on this subject, nevertheless it's my understanding that Barcelona easily comply with FFP. It's the La Liga regulations that are causing them problems. So the amortisation kerfuffle shouldn't be an issue.

Interesting regarding FFP, didn't no that. I did a quick research on La Liga regulations, though, and found this but no idea how reliable it is:

What is Wage Cap?

Wage cap is the maximum amount of spending a club can have in that particular season. La Liga determines and fixes it based on the earnings, the losses, the profits and amount of debt. This is the limit which the clubs are not allowed to cross.

What is Wage Bill?

Wage bill is the amount of money a club spends during a season. It not only includes the salary of the men’s football team but also the amortization of transfer fees for all the players, the spending on every department of the club, other sports as well such as the women’s football team, basketball team, hockey team and many more.

This would mean that amortizations do play a role. €48M in unplanned depreciations could surely be devastating in Barca's current situation?

It seems that Olmo won‘t break his contract. At least that is his camp‘s current PR spin.

I mean, Barca will be delighted to hear that but his camp apparently wamted this clause in his contract so that's nothing I'd bet the future of the club on ;)

One way or another, signing Olmo was terrible, terrible business by Barca. Great player but not worth risking their future when they have so many others who can play in his position.

Oh, absolutely. They wanted that clause inserted into the contract, so Barca will have to pay up for him to not use it.

He was a Barca youth wasn't he so lifelong dream to actually play for them so I can see that viewpoint, dosen't just want to walk away from finally getting a regular match there.

He certainly isn't trading that to come and play for a bottom half prem team so Barca will have to continue pulling some magical levers and try to make things work with the squad.

I get that he „wants to make it“ at Barca, but, as Zehner said, why did he have the break option included in his contract for the case of a failed registration?

It could be, but only going forward. It could put them in trouble wrt registering long term injured players like Araujo and Christensen now...

And then will impact next season's wage cap

Death, Taxes and Real Madrid being completely useless at the Mestalla.

Corberan done a great job with them countering so far.

Vinicius what the feck

He's an absolute bellend. Always has been, always will be. Has something wrong with him mentally.

You know you're an absolute knobhead if that mental bastard Rudiger is throwing you down the tunnel.

He's actually somehow more annoying than Neymar. Silly little prick. Was he wanting to fight the referee too? He's always getting himself into situations and never learns.

No matter how good a player he might be, I can't remember a player with an attitude this shocking. He's just always so riled up. Very hard player to like.

That was perfect timing. What a way to throw away the match. Valencia could very easily have taken a point off of Real Madrid had they kept their composure. I guess that makes up for Dimitrevski stepping off his line just before Bellingham's penalty kick was taken.

I have been looking for the rule somewhere but no luck so far. I wonder if it only applies if the keeper actually saves it.

Vinicius got sent off, and Valencia still looked scared to come out, only sitting in their box.

It should apply even when the kick is missed but only if the referee thinks that the keeper violating the rule impacted the taker. I personally think that it impacted Bellingham given that he was looking at the keeper (Dimitrevski picking the correct side adds further credence for me). However, the refs and VAR thought otherwise, which I can accept as this is subjective.

I think you definitely improved before the break so yes, definitely expecting another Liga + CL

Nah you can just tell the team doesn’t click like those double winning seasons.

Glad to beat Valencia though, relegation can’t come soon enough for those cnuts.

Doesn't really matter because the winning mentality is something no one in Europe can match. And there's ofcourse the quite incredible luck when needed.

Even that has limits though, can’t win titles when you’re leaking goals like we are. Carlo still hasn’t fixed these issues.

Does it really? We've all been watching this club for years now  Doesn't matter how crap you are, Liga is a lock in. CL would be a little more difficult but some more sacrifices under the Bernebeau and that'll be secured too.
