La Liga 2024/25

They are taking the piss in the box

This is like having Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho in the same club.

Just switched on the Mallorca-Madrid match. Some lovely stuff between their attackers - very nice.

Madrid's football doesn't move me. Obviously a very good team and they have nice moments but I don't think they played particularly attractive football for the most part.

That's naughty from Maffeo, could've easily been a red.

Might have changed the rules. Nacho got red for that last season: twice even. Owh well.

Need more goals.

The problem is not Maffeo, the problem is the people who let Maffeo do what he does.

Mallorca deserved that. If only because Madrid aren't bothering at the moment.

Vinicius going down earlier like he'd be shot, grimacing and gnashing his teeth, when in reality he got a soft poke in his calf.

Worst thing in football these days. Every contact results in searing pain and unnecessary waste of minutes on the floor.

That Maffeo is a proper dickhead isn't he, likes being a dirty cnut, yet someone touches him and squeals like a piglet

Real are missing a centre forward like joselu. They need someone for last 10mins that will stay around the penalty spot. All well and good having vini and mbappe on left wing looking to cross but no one in there.

Another 5-7 mins and we'll get the Jude winner after it deflects off around 25 people in the box.

They should be 3-1 up, so wasteful...

Very poor second half from Madrid there. A lot of subpar performances (Vinicius, Bellingham, Modric, Mbappé dropping the Mallorca's CF on the equalizer).

Mendy gets sent off for a wild challenge and his is pretty much the last kick of the match for everyone.

Well, that was an interesting watch. Real Madrid look like they have the potential to be great but they looked poor for long slices of that match. Going to be interesting to see which way it goes.

Good opening match for Mallorca though. Their fans will go home happy.

Yeah.

Thoughts:

• They are just back and clearly not fit, trust Pintus and co to get them up to speed
• On top of that; had a game midweek
• One of those games where a lot went wrong. Vini and Rudi lost pretty much every ball in the second half.
• New 433 system with different roles and players (Mbappe/no Kroos). Not sure if we’ll stick to it, Carlo usually figures it out. Like last season. Or when he pulled Di Maria to LCM. I’ll trust him to work it out. Likely a 442 with Camavinga but we’ll see.
• Another day we score the 0-2 and cruise to a win.

With all that being said; we can panick when a month from now we haven’t seen any improvement. Way too early at this point.

Main thing is to get them fit and find the best formation.

Mbappe instead of Kroos (that is the only real change, isn't it?) obviously cost stability and control. Their firepower should be enough on most days and it kinda fits Carlo's hero ball approach.
It will be interesting if they decide to sacrifice an attacker.

Camavinga needs to start at DM, on twitter they’re calling the other guy Hawk Tchoua

I think either Barcelona or Madrid could win it this year, always a tough league to call. But either of those two could just sneak it.

What is it with Atleti and their spending? Have they found oil or were they so conservative the last years that they saved up? Or is it because they only came in 4th and are afraid to sink deeper and lose out on CL money? I also think that they should have invested in defenders, but what do I know...

Celta have started really well. Very impressive performance this

Villarreal take the lead within 2minutes. Danjuma with a well take goal.

Two former United boys in Kambwala and Bailly at the center of the defense for Villarreal.

Sevilla level. Think Kambwala switched off for the throw in there.

Edit : Ruled out!! Not sure foor offside/handball .

Another narrow win for Barca. What are the early impressions from Flick's Barca, assuming there is anything discernible of his playstyle so far?

Probably a little early to say right now. I like the verticality. If Lewa was on it today he'd have bagged a hattrick.

Yamal just doing Yamal things, though.

Very direct, want to play at 1000mph all the time. So far so good. The attack has created a lot over two games and while they've looked vulnerable at the back, on the balance if they continue like this they'll be competitive, as long as Lewandowski scores enough of his chances

Thanks guys. The way you describe it definitely sounds familiar, especially the why-defend-when-you-can-attack approach.

Arda Guler, starter vs Valladolid at the Bernabeu :D

Would it be too soon to congratulate Barca with the title? Cause this shit doesn’t look good at all. Formation is not working. None of the players are reaching their level. And by the time they figure it out, could be too late.
