La Liga 2017/18

Anyone has good quality video of Marcelo's red card? Saw some poor quality videos and looked like he deliberately kicked someone in the head.

No, he just threw a little kick out and grazed him on his back iirc? Stupid and honestly can't complain about the red, but wasn't that bad

Valencia looking pretty good so far. Pereira right in amongst the good stuff. Kondogbia is superb.

EDIT: Nearly spoke too soon.

Benzema injured for 4 to 6 weeks

They can still play him tho, his performance is gonna be about the same anyway. The only thing he can do is link up with Ronaldo and let him do the magic.
If I was a RM supporter I would be really worried when Ronaldo retires or move on, it seems that 90% of their output this days has to either come from him or be influenced by him

Real Madrid made the classic mistake of being arrogant after a succesful season.

It's not that bad, they'll sign a Galactico striker soon and all will be well. They aren't as reliant on Ronaldo as Barca are Messi, once they've both retired Madrid will be the stronger of the two.

No, we're being arrogant now, that's the biggest problem. I'm really not concerned about goals. We scored in every game and this was the first game of the season where we didn't score more than 1. Rather it's the CB and RB positions i feel we neglected in the market, but the problem right now is we're stepping on the pitch like our opponents are supposed to just roll over and die for us because we're real madrid and we smashed man united and barcelona in pre-season official games. The season has barely begun, we're not scaring anyone at the moment

Theoretically yes but I can't name a single player atm that match Ronaldo's output consistently (or since I started to watch this game 15y ago). RM does have a better core and structure than Barça so I do agree Barça will struggle alot more without Messi.

You weren't arrogant at all on the pitch. You played as you usually do with very high intensity for the whole game.

The only reason in the past games you've scored enough goals in because Asensio has had an abnormal finishing rate that simply won't happen again. It's pretty obvious you're missing another centre forward.

Spot on. Looks like he is gonna be an incredible player, but he is definitely not going to be the kind of player that you gonna depend to score in every game or hit 20-30-40 goals a season. Tbf it's not his job either

0-0 HT. It's a fair result, albeit i think Valencia looked slightly better than Atletico.
Sevilla to play Eibar in 23 minutes.

Very physical match. Both teams played well, but lacked cutting edge around the box. They were tidy in the middle of the park, but struggled to play the final pass. That said, its difficult to carve Atlético open, while Atlético missed Antoine. Without him they are pretty average going forward. Gameiro is just a shadow of his former self. Torres is Torres. Gaitan+Vietto are not very good and Correa is still raw/hit-and-miss. Additionally both teams got a bit tired after 60-70 minutes and accuracy suffered.
Fair draw. Kondogbia is going to be massive for Valencia. He gives them defensive stability next to Parejo. Guedes didn't show anything special, but it was a difficult game for a player like him. Pereira with a solid/good performance.

Where did you see the high intensity? We started sluggish and unfocused, and were sluggish and unfocused for most of the first half(pretty much until the 1-1). Second half we huffed and puffed and created next to nothing, that was the real shockin part. we created barely 4-5 chances at home against Levante.

Asensio went off for two against valencia, we scored 3 against depor pretty much by inertia and he had nothing to do with that. We're not missing a CF, we're missing fitness, form and hunger/aggression. This team doesn't lack goals. Benzema isn't going to miss all his chances like he did against Valencia. Cristiano will be back. Bale was one of the 5-6 best players in the world just a year ago, i refuse to believe he's finished yet.

The problem today was the attitude. We never had a coherent attacking plan, just a bunch of players trying sh*t out and hoping it stuck

Sevilla:

Ben Yedder
Nolito - Ganso - Sarabia - Navas
NZonzi
Escudero - Lenglet - Carrico - Mercado

Ganso :o:( *jinx for another goal*

Berizzo does love him, doesn't he?

That's true, they have the best squad. But many Ronaldo detractors used to argue that Madrid created so many chances against lesser teams that Ronaldo was just stat-padding.

They're still creating a lot but it's Ronaldo who finishes those even if he's barely involved in overall play. In the last two home games they've missed easy chances with Benzema and Bale and should have won both. They really should have done more to get Mbappe. He's such a good finisher and would love all the chances Madrid create.

The intensity was the intensity of a usual home game at the Bernabeu last season.

You created less than you usually do because there's noone getting on the end of chances, Levante closed the middle but you got into great positions especially out wide and there's only Bale in the middle to finish them off. If Cristiano or Morata were playing you would have 9 points right now. Even if Benzema played the full game today you would have probably won it.

You scored 3 against Depor because they're very very bad defensively and your players are still great. You're not missing fitness at all, your players were faster, were chasing every ball and the fitness plan was most likely the same as last season with the bonus of most players not having to deal with any international tournament in the summer.

You say Benzema isn't going to miss all his chances like vs Valencia but he'll miss most of them for sure. Cristiano will be back but he's nearly 33 and can't play every game or he'll be dead by the end of the season. Bale is pretty much finished by now and Mayoral isn't good enough. Now Benzema is out for 6 weeks and you're pretty much forced to play Cristiano every game as a striker where he doesn't play his best football. You should have bought Mbappe, you lost your second highest goalscorer and arrogantly didn't replace him because you thought scoring goals was easy.
