La Liga 2017/18

Must say our refusal to mark Stuani in the box as been good for my heart

Benzema just can't score to save his life FFS

He's been really good at least, and Cris burns hotter than the core of the Sun at the moment

Also, great game from us against a very good team that played well

To be fair, it was a great save from Bono (although it ended up as a rebound to Cristiano to score into open net).

Benzema has always played brilliantly and being involved in many of RM-goals throughout this season, despite not scoring much goals.

He wants the assists. Two assist and one pre assist.

Yup. So much that Benzema has more assists than any RM-player in La Liga this season

If that were Benzema he would have hit the post instead

No, he really has not. He's been gash most of the time

And 3-5. What the feck is up with us and corners tonight :wenger:

 come on, man. You can't say that with a straight face. He had a better game tonight than he had all season. And it was still nothing to rave about at all.

The fact is, he should finish more chances as our main striker.

Ronaldo gets his 4th, the guy is a machine

Well, we've won the first set. Let's start the second

Don't think they were doing THAT bad but they've lost important players for them (Vela, Iñigo Martínez, Yuri) and not replaced them correctly so they're already getting worse progressively.
For what they said the fans sang "Loren vete ya" and he decided to leave, without waiting until the end of the season,so maybe that
precipitated the exit of Eusebio.
You are right, many important sales.I dont know how much they got for Yuri but Iñigo Martínez +Odriozola in summer is a lot of money to fix the team

This was great fun! But also very bad for my heart

How was the experience Phil?
So. Many. Goals.

Madrid were great to watch, fun going forward with skill throughout the team and then constantly fecking up in defence.

The stadium was pleasant and well thought out. The fans were a bit quiet apart from the singing section but generally seemed a bit nicer than the English fans.

Shocker that they don't serve beer in the stadium at all though.

So the title race is officially over. Atletico could have never kept it up with Barca, as they are also looking to win the Europa League. One if enough for them.

What's up with everyone scoring 4 goals in this weekend?

Yes,you were lucky with the goals. Alcohol has not been served for years. You have to bring it in open bottles and similar inventions.

Goals conceded in La Liga so far this season:

Barcelona - 13
Atletico - 14
Getafe - 27
Valencia - 31
Villarreal - 33
Athletic Bilbao - 33
Real Madrid - 33
Leganes - 35
Espanyol - 37

Despite we osing the league I'm enjoying this games and hope they serve for Madrid to make yet another good run in the UCL.

With that Atlético defeat, Barcelona can be crown champions of La Liga in the fixture they play against Madrid.

Pasillo?

So CRonaldo is 3 goals behind Messi now for the Pichichi...and keep in mind that the 32 year old gave entire La Liga 5 game head start:lol:

Ronaldo recognizes that these next 3 months are important for the Balon D'or. That's why I think the Balon D'or being based on the calendar year is awful. You can't count the first half of the season statistically or through gauging their overall performances as it goes into the last Balon D'or voting, yet the Balon D'or has been settled after the CL has been won. All the trophies get settled the 1st half of the year.

It's a bit different this year due to the World Cup, but my point still stands.

If he had cared for the first half of the season, maybe they could actually be challenging for the title. :p:p:p

We can win la decimotercera, the third consecutive, which does not happen since the 70´s . The almighty can´t waste time with banalities like la liga.
This year we give it to you. How many would it be already? 30 ? :p. In addition next year there is VAR and there will be penalties against you, so enjoy while you can

No one cared for the Pichichi in the last two seasons and certainly not until two weeks ago.

Now we're going to be bored to death with the Pichichi talk, no one will talk about the title

Haha sorry mate for bringing it up. But this is the third convective year where Cronaldo is out of form during autumn, and then turns to this notorious monsteresque Van Nistelrooy-esque player during spring; it is quite cool how he has adapted to his own decline, since he can't be in shape for a whole season anymore; you gotta give credit where credit is due:)

With that said; barca - or should I say Messi? - has been a machine this season .Think Rakitic said that this was the first season where he actually saw Messi at the gym, it is as if Neymar's departure awoke Messi's inner anger and made him more determined than ever.:) Just like the Argentina team of 86', they just made it through to the world cup; and I think the world cup will be decided between Argentina (Messi) and Brazil. It is a shame that Barca decided the league so early, but at the same time, you have to sit back and admire the way Messi is carrying the team, he is as usual out of this world.

The difference is that Messi has to do everything at Barca, not only scoring. CR7 can count on Modric, Casemiro, Kroos, Isco, Bale and Benzema to assist him, instead.

Who knows, haven't heard anything about a league title since Atleti played Barcelona

Nah don't worry, I wasn't specifically talking about individuals here, just how every La Liga related news in the last days has been talking about that after months of going through it without any importance at all. But as a Sevilla supporter, you're probably well aware of how the media spin or forget players/teams as they please.

I'm not much into admiring at this point, more like anxiously waiting for every game to see if the Dembele-Messi pair keep improving, and praying that our guy doesn't injure again, a big part of our UCL chances rest on Dembele's level until May imo, Messi is good, but some teams are too strong for him to beat them on his own.

I think one of my favourite parts after we win the decimo-tercera will be listening to devastated, heart-broken barcelona fans pretending they wouldn't want to trade season with us

Since I had this at hand for some reddit discussion, I'll leave it here too

Now, I'm the first one to have a hate boner on Benzema when the time is due, but since the turn of the year even if his stats remain awful, what he's doing for Real and the pair he's forming with Ronaldo is a thing of beauty, he draws defenders like few other players do in the world (and that's without scoring, imagine if he had a cannon on his leg), Ronaldo and him move around the pitch almost telepathically, every move he does seems to have a purpose, like the way he draws almost two defenders to the wing vs PSG, creating space for Lucas...

Madrid have lost 5 games this season:

Girona and Barcelona, Benzema started
Betis, Villarreal and Espanyol, Benzema was injured in two and played only 21' against Espanyol.

They have 6 draws:

Valencia, Atletico, Athletic, Levante (2nd leg), Benzema started
Levante (first leg) and Celta, Benzema was out one and played 28 minutes vs Levante

13 of the 15 point disadvantage Real have with Barcelona have come from games without Karim, I'm not saying this numbers are absolute (his mistakes might have costed points too) or that he's the best player in that team, but I do think he's the key piece to link between their midfield/fullbacks and Ronaldo, without Benz, Real Madrid are doomed to flood the area with crosses, and Ronaldo has to dance against two defenders and wear out fighting a battle almost on his own in the area, with Benzema, everything looks smoother for them, and Ronaldo is further enabled to do what he does best, score in buckets.

These videos were for a Ronaldo thread on reddit, and I'm sure that if we look at other goals, be it this year or before January, his impact would be even greater, I thought Zidane was just some guy fielding 11 expensive players on the pitch and keeping them happy, after benching Bale and keep Benzema I thought he was just another biased coach, but now I think he has been noticing something most people don't, and that he probably has been tinkering with this for months, maybe a whole year. He's way better than what I personally gave him credit for.
