La Liga 2017/18

No he didn't because the ball went in. If it looked like it wasn't on target and he deliberately stops it with his hand it should be a red card. Point is here that Carvajal put his hand to stop a shot being a goal but he didn't deny the goal, the ball went in.

Isnt intent usually in the rules? Like carvajal intends to handball to stop a goalscoring opportunity = foul+red even if the ball goes in?

Always felt like the captain of the fouled team should decide if they want the goal or pen and red. Can't really call it an advantage if the fouled team would prefer a pen and man advantage.

Messi destroyed marcelo there with just one touch wow, he kept the ball in and what a pass to the right spot. Also shit keeping.

Barcelona were absolutely immense in that second half.

As much hate as Suarez gets he's been so clutch for the team scoring in just about every crucial match. Pique may have had his best game of the season too.

Valverde deserves more credit than he's getting, this isn't Pep's Barca but for them to be undefeated in Europe both in La Liga and CL since the season began for this long is remarkable.

Scary thing is Barca should only get better when Dembele and Umtit get back. They will also definitely be making some signings in January.

It's been 3 straight wins at the Bernabeu in La Liga for Barca.

Agree but not anyway like a few years ago. Look at the team and there's a team full of players that were as you say but the CR7, Kroos, Modric's, Bales signings are a very long time ago and absolutely nothing since. PSG and sadly City are the places players will look to go....
Crazy how Chelsea are looking like a poorer relation.

I agree, PSG, City and perhaps China hold the pulling power. What's interesting for Real and Barca is when the likes of Modric, Iniesta, Ronaldo, Messi hang up their boots and call it a day, they have the financial muscle to rebuild but will they hit the heights of before? La Masia isn't what it was, and Real are getting priced out from galatico signings by other clubs.

siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Have that Ronaldo and Madrid, copying Messi celebration during the last clasico winning a nothing cup. Messi throwing down. Marcelo best back in the world gets humiliated as the icing on the cake.

Just hope we stay as far as possible from the massacre Madrid will do the next summer, especially Bale.

Funny thing is Real completely dicked them in the supercup. What a change.

There can only be one

It's deliberately breaking the rules to gain an advantage. That is the very definition of cheating.
He didn't get any advantage. Penalty plus red plus missed next 3 games.
And by your definition every every foul is then cheating. Most fouls are made deliberately you know?

Roberto should be playing central. Much better than rakitic.

Messi's speed of thought is on a different level. Different level to everyone else. How anyone can watch Ronaldo and say he is on Messi's level is beyond me tbh.

Feel for Ronaldo sometimes. Benzema just completely fecks everything up. Carvajal was completely stupid for their first goal. Kovacic should have been aware to stop marking Messi and foul Rakitic on that counter.

Good play by Barca, withstood the first half well.

Serie A is the only league left out of the top 5 that doesn't have a champion and it's not even Christmas

That pre-season run in addition to the incredible year they had made the caf completely horny over Real. Some even claimed this might be the best side ever and uttered useless soundbytes about CL and La liga wrapped up. Lolzies.

Yes, every deliberate foul IS cheating, by definition.

Oh, it did? Why not just give a goal then, silly ref.
He blew the whistle immediately before the ball went in. It's his prerogative to not give advantage but imo that's bad refereeing. I don't like it when refs don't give advantage but stop the game instead.

How is it not advantage? Barcelona scored a goal which they were trying to do. They weren't trying to send a player off.

Players have no business making referee calls.

Playing with his hands and being punished with that is not cheating. If so, then every foul on the pitch is cheating. Every tackle in penalty box is cheating.
Deliberately using your hands to block an open goal is much worse than a foul or tackle in the box.

What rebrutal you're being a snowflake if you can't understand it's just part of the game and everything was done according to rules, no cheating was done in both episodes- they got that they deserved red cards and penalties awarded, difference is in Suarez case it paid off - here it didn't.
So if they get punished, it’s not cheating? Makes sense...

I was calling you out because you used the incident as some sort of weird (pointless imo) point about Suarez from the WC. As if you’ve been waitig 3 years to defend him. Very strange to bring up, and laughable you call others a snowflake.

Suarez got the exact same punshment as carvajal

red card and a penalty

there is no difference to what either player done sorry to tell you
The implications of the match were vastly different, which I already explained. I’m not arguing about what the ref has called. The original post made some weird point about people hating Carvajal in the same way people hated Suarez in the WC or something like that so I pointed out why there was a difference.

I guess the ref made up his mind as soon as he saw it
As he should? The follow up is a completely different goal scoring opportunity cause by a deliberate handball on the line.
It would be like judging a foul on wether a player is injured or not.

Deserved win for Barca. Congrats on the title.
They weren't even that good, we capitulated in the second half for no reason

Ah well, i hated christmass anyways

Ronaldo wasn't great either. That air shot was funny

Messi is such an amazing player. Not sure how anyone can even argue he's not the best in the world. He's on another level to everyone else.

Yeah but the few times he set his teammates up, they completely fluffed their lines.

Carvajal was criminal for Barca's first too, no positional awareness what so ever.

He did and he's allowed to. Just because I'm arguing a point here doesn't mean that I think it was a super bad decision. I mean it was a bad decision because it impacted the game negatively when it didn't have to happen at all but advantage is a line each ref does differently. A perfect ref gives advantage every time. Bad refs blow the whistle straight away.

Everytime I watch them play(which isnt often since I dont care for La liga) Im baffled at the fact so many people argue Ronaldo is better than Messi. Better at what? Definitely not at football.

Blows my mind honeslty, stats, prizes and what not aside, Messi is better at everything bar being over 6 ft tall.
