Yeah, so? He was a difference maker in more big games than iniesta. He also had more bad performances in big games. Guess it's up to wether you prefer consistency over peak performance. But in either case, no way is iniesta the better big game player. At best, they're on the same level

So you admit that Iniesta was more consistent in big games than Zidane and had fewer bad performances in big games than Zidane yet say there's no way we can say Iniesta was better than Zidane in big games over the course of their career?

That make zero sense.

Guess i'll quote myself
Now tell me, did Iniesta ever play at the level Zidane played against Brazil, or Leverkusen?

Yes, and not only in separate games, he got to that level throughout a whole tournament.

You won't trust my opinion, no problem with that, ask some Italian poster that saw the 2012 Euro, they had the "privilege" of getting pissed on by Iniesta at group stage... and in the final

(on bolded) Yeah, and he played on a better level than Zidane did that day.
Against Brazil? I'll probably give you that, but that is one game - and you're saying that Zidane is a better big-game player, despite disappearing in many of them, getting sent-off and playing on a level inferior/comparable to Iniesta's best games.

edit: if you want to continue this discussion, we should probably move to the Iniesta vs Zidane thread, as there is already one on this forum

Nah, can't be bothered, we're going around in circles.

Let's get back on topic

Right, let's agree to disagree

Regarding the game, Sergio might be a cnut, but god I just can't hate him

He's telling sportswear companies to call him to get a contract as he's been without one for months, isn't he?

Barca aren't great now. They managed only 2 shots on target vs 6 for Real. Real deserved to get a point.

No. But yes, barcelona are not a great side right now, though they are still the most talented team on the world, together with us

Odd way to look at it. Sometimes shots that are off target are much bigger chances to score than the ones that are on target. And that's exactly the case in this clasico. Barca had the biggest chances of the game. Messi and Neymar were 1 on 1 with Navas. Real had pretty much no clear chances over 90 mins except for the goal.

Real should be happy with 1 point. Barcelona shouldn't and probably isn't.

Fair result. Thought the ref was great even though he could have awarded Real a pen on 3 different occasions (as weird as that sounds). Modric was immense in the first half. Overall Real were probably the slightly better team considering that it was in Camp Nou.

:lol:Just seen it was on delay. I get you now!

I thought you were joking in your original post, then I saw your reply to me and realised that you might really not know the match was over. I didn't have the heart to say anything :D

Barcelona has the best offensive 3 in the world, but the midfield is a shadow of their former. Being bossed regularly by other teams in midfield, like San Sebastian for example, would have been unthinkable with a midfield of Xavi, Iniesta and Keita.
Having no good RB also hurts them, making them quite easy to work out seeing them only attacking over the left side.

Thank you! I may have been the only Sky viewer actually believing he was watching it live!

I'm sure someone has already said it, but in comparison to the City-Chelsea game they looked like two teams of old ladies. Hard to get excited about it although I was kind of glad Real equalised.

Barca fans butt hurt. Almost all of them calling zidane the worst manager ever and playing the worst football (sergi Dominguez for instance ). The guy is 6 points clear at the top and is unbeaten for like 30 games or something.

One of the most boring El Clasicos in recent years. Zidane seems to be a very good coach, though. He's the most pragmatic manager they've had since Mourinho. It helps a lot that Barca aren't as good these days as they were under Pep, but this looks like the first La Liga Madrid will win since 11/12, and only their second in nine years.

Should have ended 2-1 or 3-1 to Barca if Neymar or Messi had their scoring boots on. Very impressed with the Real Madrid midfield of Modric, Vazquez and Kovavic.

See, I'm missing Barca from previous seasons. I'm a huge fan of MSN. Barca created 2-3 excellent chances but overall the quality of the performance wasn't great.

It wasn't great. But whithin the context of the game, Barcelona was still the better team. They didn't win because they failed to score in a period where they clearly dominated the game and created the biggest chances on the night, Neymar's, which is pretty much the clearest type of chance you can get in a Clasico and Messi's. They did enough to win the game except take their chances when it really mattered. They payed dearly for that, and this is the story of this El Clasico.

La Liga goes on though. Real have some tough games next, and Barcelona can go on a series of wins with the fixtures they have up until the derby with Atletico.

I find your way of looking at it very odd. Clos Gomez didn't have the balls to call that penalty in the second minute on Lucas and the same thing happened later when Mascherano was pulling Ronaldos shirt. The hand balls from Rakitic and Carvajal were both good calls, in line with the new rules.
Then we have the Lucas offside that was onside (Alba kept him onside), and that was a goal as soon as Modric sent that ball to him. Ronaldo was waiting on the other side for a simple tap in with one Barca CB to far away from Lucas, Ronaldo or the ball to fo anything about it.
It never changes in these games. You add up all referee errors and somehow every single time it's Real who get's more bad calls. Important bad calls, game changing bad calls.
Clos Gomez was sent there to stop Real from winning the league too early and that much was obvious already in the second minute of the game.
There's not much controversy today only because Real equalised in the last minute.

Where did I say anything about the referee errors in the game or bad calls? Sure, this time Barca had more help, last Clasico Ramos should've been off in the first half an hour. He wasn't. Mistakes happen for Madrid as well in Clasicos, and not very rarely.

Anyone watching the Betis game? Absolutely pouring down, waterfalls coming off the stadium roof. Betis are beating Celta 3-2 at the moment with about 10 minutes to play.

So next time anyone mentions a player, just ask: could they do it on a wet lunchtime in Sevilla?

3-3 now. Celta score from a corner. And the rain has more or less stopped again :D

Yep. I'm watching. Playing in good old Manchester weather, they would have us believe. Entertaining stuff, not good for the defenders union though.

They already double mark Ronaldo and if they double mark Ramos as well then some players would be unmarked at all

Let everyone else run free, they won't score because they aren't Sergio F-ing Ramos.

It was not the best classico ever, but still very intense. The draw is okay. Real was better in the first HT, while Barca could/should have won it in the second one. NSM bottled huge opportunities.
Real are just the best at set-pieces. The amount of goals they score in important games after corners/free-kicks is incredible. Ramos, Pepe, Ronaldo, Bale and Benz are just so good at attacking the ball and their distribution is always top-notch.
I am a bit disappointed by Barca's midfield without Iniesta. Busquets is having a bad season and nobody else can step up. Rakitic is unable to fill this hole, Andre Gomes is a bit shit, Turan is better as forward and Denis Suarez/Rafinha don't really help. On paper these are great options, but in reality they don't perform.
