Val-Bar was a great game, but it's time these "men" get called out on their pathetic behavior. They can only blame themselves.

Meh. It's exactly the same every time anyway. Nothing will change.
In this case I'm not sure it has to either? When the crowd start throwing stuff at players I've got no problem at all with those players drawing attention to it, however ridiculous it makes them look. There's an additional element here that Messi was hit with a bottle last year at Mestalla, and to add insult to injury he was ridiculously booked for time-wasting in the aftermath. So, it's possible that little episode still played on the players' minds today.

It's anything but a 'non-event' to be honest..

Well, no, you're right, it isn't. I meant more as in a "I can't be arsed with all this discussion about it" kinda way.

Which I've now been drawn into myself

Another angle. Is Busquets would have noticed the bottle there'd be 5 players overreacting.

The crazy thing is the delay in reaction

For the record, I hope the guy who threw it gets a long ban. If the security staff do their jobs, they notice these kind of things, as they should be standing between the Barca players and the Valencia fans during a last min pen, especially with last season’s events in mind. But no problem disagreeing, I think that is pathetic behaviour from the lot.

Did the bottle make contact last year?

Yeah, I think it hit Messi while the players were laying on the ground celebrating, but not much was made of it (likely because Suárez and Mascherano didn't notice it happening :D ), Messi got up and got a medic to look at his head to see if there was any bleeding. That's what I remember anyway.

That's very poor from match officials (as well as from Valencia fan(s) of course).

@top1whoisman

There wasn't really a big deal made of it because so few people noticed it, just that Messi didn't immediately get back to his half for the kick-off because he was feeling his head etc. The ref didn't notice it either and thought Messi was time-wasting.

Cheers. Do they (Valencia fans) have prior..?

Pereira's playing for Granada now, against Sporting. I only switched on at halftime but he's looking like he's involved in everything good for Granada,

Looks like it hit Messi on top of his head and Neymar a bit in the face but it's quite funny how Messi is actually busy insulting the Valencia fans afterwards and Neymar is dying on the ground.

Today's Estadio de Mestalla scientific experiment has proved that Messi, believe it or not, is not a fainting goat! His buddies though...

What I also vividly recall about that particular incident, Messi was actually booked - only in Spain

Yeah, I mentioned that earlier. Anyway, the booking in itself was understandable enough given the circumstances; the truly "only in Spain" part about it came in the aftermath when the federation rejected Barça's appeal to overturn the yellow after they had been able to thoroughly study the incident.

Who cares about a yellow card? If we go down this road, the federation would also need to start banning Mascherano and Suarez for unsportsmanlike conduct seeing this video (and several others).

The booking alone, irrespective of the predictable RFEF appeal, was something only that can happen in Spain. Messi, being booked for getting hit by a projectile - nowhere else can that happen. Moreover, it's always the same 3 or 4 refs who are at the center of it. Borbalan, Lahoz, Mallenco & the idiot who is so bad you have to say his name twice Gonzalez Gonzalez

We'll see if the league punishes club appropriately since the Mestalla has been guilty of this repeatedly but, of course it's Spain

The record of penalties last year, the offside goal, the not conceded penalty to Valencia...is it also part of the "only in Spain"? :D: The federation hardly changes the decision of referees.Probably things like to make theatre for an empty bottle of water are the dodgy behaviors that the federation will note in future appeals

Great Galician derby... Celta running out 4-1 winners.

Some great performances by Wass, Iago Aspas and Orellana.

They are really the most pathetic bunch to walk on a football pitch. Great footballers mind.
Btw is Messi going to get a ban for his swearing?

wont the players have been told that they have to react when somethings clearly been thrown and made contact with some of them? No one would expect the levels of acting that happened, but it's probably better that they are on the ground feigning injury as all the players doing the opposite and reacting angrily will likely incite more violence. If you're the fan that threw that and see players hit the deck I doubt you're throwing another one, and the people around you would think twice too.

There's been an insane amount of goals in La Liga this season... 3.07 per game so far

Maybe it will settle down a bit by the half-way point but it's still very interesting. Not surprising given the amount of games featuring at least six goals:

Barça 6-2 Betis
Sevilla 6-4 Espanyol
Valencia 2-4 Las Palmas
Las Palmas 5-1 Granada
Real Madrid 5-2 Osasuna
Leganés 1-5 Barça
Celta 4-3 Barça
Atlético 7-1 Granada
Betis 1-6 Real Madrid
Espanyol 3-3 Eibar

and then there's been loads of 3-2/2-3 scorelines recently as well (Leganés-Sevilla, Athletic-R.Sociedad, Eibar-Osasuna, Valencia-Barça, all in the last two matchdays)...

I doubt it will be sustained throughout the season, but it's showing that teams are going out there with "attack, attack!" on their minds.

-Sevilla have won all of their home games this season. Atletico are undefeated away from home.

-Sevilla have scored in 22 home games in a row. Their best run since 1954 (70 home games). Atletico have conceded only 1 goal away from home this season.

-Griezmann has fewer goals against Sevilla (1) than against any other team.

Vitolo is playing at a very high level this season. Wonderful player to watch.

Sevilla 1 up against At. Madrid
Had to switch over to LA Liga for a minute since the United game is so bad.

Oops now second yellow for Koke he's off. Down to 10 men for Atl. Madrid.

Que partidazo:D Top of the league, and will remain there if Bilbao shake things up tonight. Nevertheless, our honeymoon with Sampaoli continues.

Guess you're less skeptical of him now, eh? :D

It's looking unlikely that Athletic will get anything, their away form this season is crap and their recent record at the Bernabéu is even worse; on top of that they're missing De Marcos, Balenziaga, Yeray and, worst of all, Aduriz too probably.
