Aduriz

@prarek , I've loved watching Valencia games these past few years because (no offence :p) there's guaranteed goals... Their games against Las Palmas and Betis this season were ridiculously entertaining.

On a related note, I thought Sampaoli's Sevilla would be going a bit more crazy after that Espanyol game (who themselves look absolutely revitalized this season), but they just can't seem to score away from home.

So true. For neutrals it's guaranteed entertainment.

The situation is starting to look a bit precarious at the moment, with 3 defeats in a row (and now looking like 4 although far from over)... I really can't understand how they allowed Paco to leave.

That said, the forward and midfield players are definitely still there... the key issue is in DF where oddly enough I'd say you have 3 who (when in form) are among the best in the league in their respective positions in Gayà (LB), Garay (CB) and Diego Alves (GK). The problem is Abdennour and Mangala subscribe to the "headless chicken" style of defending and are simply too unreliable on the ball as well; Aderlan Santos seems alright but still a bit of an unknown quantity and Cancelo is great going forward but too gung-ho as a back. Montoya still needs to prove himself.

I'll leave the coaching situation for what it is -- suffice it to say that there were options out there who would get a lot more out of this squad.

Nani put in a good cross but the keeper did well.

Indeed. There is a lot of quality in the squad but it is too imbalanced. And the manager, well he has little experience as head coach. He has been asisstant manager all his career and his only experience as manager prior to this was in the Mexican league where he failed hard. We have seen many times that good asisstant managers don't always translate to good managers.

Aduriz just scored his 100th goal in all comps for Athletic since returning there in 2012 (his third spell at the club).

His overall record for Athletic Club reads 281 apps, 123 goals.
His third spell (2012-16) : 188 apps, 100 goals. Amazing considering he was 31 when he rejoined.

Also,

Had to be another Basque... Urzaiz was a fckin beast in the air though.

Basques love a long ball :D... Urzaiz was a fckin beast in the air though.

After the United game I am really pleased Athletic Bilbao won. Imagine what mood I was in on Thursday evening.

This is still hilarious. Back when names like Sampaoli, Rudi Garcia, Pellegrini were all rumored for the Valencia job. It says that big names were mentioned but they were all discarded because the club thought they no longer had the hunger to win. Then you go and hire Pako.

You wonder where the goals will come from. Valencia are just in a mess. So it's not all Gary Neville's fault?
Certainly not all Neville's fault. But he was pretty terrible. With the same squad Pako did a better job. Now the squad has changed a lot but a good manager can do a better job than Pako.

Villarreal 1 up against La Real... one Italian assisting another, Roberto Soriano to Sansone and a neat finish below Rulli... Pato had earlier pulled a penalty wide of the target.

Wow, Sansone...

2-0, a shot from just inside the Real Sociedad half over Rulli who was out of his goal. What do they put in the water over there at La Madrigal?? I remember Cani hitting an amazing halfway line hit a couple of seasons ago.

edit: Sansone almost with a 5-minute hattrick  great thru ball from Castillejo, but the finish is tryin' to be a little bit too clever 1v1 against the goalie.

2-1, Yuri the left-back with a great overlap and first-time shot hit to perfection across the GK into the far post.

Ramos could easily have received a second yellow for handball just now, great player but such a donkey.

Lucky us.

Ramos continues playing with black boots. It seems so strange nowadays.I read that could sign with Adidas but has not been confirmed.
I thought that Kovacic would get some minutes instead Kroos.

Ramos already on a yellow :lol:
Ball hit his hand, pretended to be hit on the head

Bellend!

Stuff like that makes me embarrassed to follow the sport at times.

The amount of wins RM pull from their ass are unbelievable.

Relano the editor from AS likes to say that Real Madrid is the football equivalent to Mike Tyson. Not the best boxer by any standard, but packing the biggest punch. I think it's absolutely true. No matter how they play or how much possession they have, they can score from any situation and against the flow of the game. As long as they have those players and they're properly motivated, they can win everything and anything. Barsa needs to play well in order to win games (which granted they do 99% of the time).

Thats a good way of phrasing that RM is lucky.

Barça is not on the same planet as RM. Treble-double in a row proves that.

How many points have Real had under Zidane in the league compared to Barca? I feel like they're doing really well since Zidane is their coach.

We're all well aware of your dislike of Real Madrid, but luck can only get them so far. They keep on doing it over and over and that trophy cabinet doesn't look like that just on sheer luck.

Today Zidane will equalize the record of Guardiola with 16 consecutive victories in la liga

over and over again = them losing Ligas

i don't care what you say, the 2016 UCL win was ridiculous and doesn't prove anything to me.. only that atletico madrid are the most pansies rivals ever.

i'm talking about this specific real madrid, the teams from 98-2002 were obviously immense

Yes, wow. There have been moments of brilliance, luck and others where they played poorly but the heavy artillery fixed the problem, the Mike Tyson comparison that @RoyH1 posted before. Nobody would have imagined it seeing how weak was his Castilla, however it seems to have clear ideas, and maintain (for the moment) the good atmosphere in the dressing room.
This year will be Real's year.
Hopefully, to reach the 11 European Cups gave a lot of tranquility but one league in seven years is unacceptable

#Zizoueffect

Simply turning up to training under a legend like Zizou must be a blast. He still has to win la liga, perhaps more than once, to solidify top manager credentials though, you can't just do that on motivation without substance.
