La Liga - 2014/15

Watching the Spurs game so I missed it but sounds like an entertaining match. Happy for Moyes.

It's easy being saintly when you're winning. As for the ref (and the assistant) - big teams and home teams tend to get the benefit of the doubt as do some players. In a 50:50 it'll always be Fellaini's foul that's called. Last night Atletico got a soft penalty, Barca were lucky not to pick up red cards, who knows what Real Madrid will find at Elche tonight.

In other news. Barca got beat by the team in 7th place, which in a league with only two teams and a miracle worker is surely impossible :smirk:
Is it? Barca certainly never managed it.

Good post. Big teams get way more refereeing decisions going for them than against them. It is always funny/sad to hear fans of big clubs complain about referees. It shows an incredible lack of self-awareness. It is the small teams that suffer and who I feel sorry for (ie their players, manager and fans).

Villarreal resting Vietto and Cheryshev (both on the bench). Eric Bailly gets his first start for Villarreal after signing from Espanyol (he was playing at the African Cup of Nations for the Ivory Coast).

Vietto is having an extraordinary season - another great result for the Villareal scouting network.

Incidentally, Marca claim Barcelona have been sounding out Antonio Cordón (Villareal's Director of Football) about joining them, which from all accounts would be a hard blow to Villareal if it happens.

Real Madrid: Casillas, Carvajal, Pepe, Varane, Marcelo, Kroos, Lucas Silva, Isco, Bale, Cristiano y Benzema

Elche: Tyton, Damián, Enzo Roco, Lombán, Albacar, Adrián, Pasalic, Víctor Rodríguez, Fayçal, Aarón, Jonathas

The same eleven as against Schalke, hope we don't drop any points today. :nervous:

It'd be a shame if that happens. Villarreal are building a lovely team. Buying in some very good young players.

Jaume Costa has been terrible for Villarreal in this game. He's made some awful challenges, amazing he's managed to get to 88mins without being booked.

How was Lucas Silva's debut?

Win for Villarreal. Though Bailly had a decent debut, a few mistakes now and then but looked solid. Campbell looked like normal Campbell, flashy with no end product. Jauma Costa was awful for Villarreal and in general they got pretty lucky from a terrible goalkeeping error which let Vietto grab another goal. They bossed the game mind but not much end product, I do enjoy watching them though.

Haha German commentator just said "whistles against Pepe which is nothing new in his career  (and that he can deal with it easily)

What a terrible minute or two for Bale. First he fails to cut back for Benzema/Cristiano and then he misses from 1 yard out (even if given offside).

That's pathetic by Cristiano Ronaldo. Not even in a good freekick/penalty position and he decides to dive like that.

Maybe not. Just anticipated the defender would and fluffed his lines
