La Liga - 2012/2013

Pichichi standings (counting Atlético's game at the moment)

1. Lionel MESSI, 21 goals in 14 apps (1 pen.)
2. Radamel FALCAO, 15 goals in 14 apps (6 pen.)
3. Cristiano RONALDO, 13 goals in 15 apps (4 pen.)

6. Álvaro NEGREDO, 8 goals in 13 apps (2 pen.)
7. Roberto SOLDADO, 8 goals in 14 apps (2 pen.)
8. Gonzalo HIGUAÍN, 7 goals in 10 apps (0 pen.)

5 penalties? ffs, when did Atletico become Real and Barcelona?

Another penalty for Atletico, Falcao on a hattrick here.

He had a ridiculous streak early in the season where he scored a penalty in 4 consecutive league games.

Make that pen. #6 (if he scores)

Messi is just unreal. 21 goals in 14 apps is absolutely ridiculous.

Yep, no-one in one of the 5 top European leagues has more than 14, and most of them are already on matchday 16, while Messi has yet to play matchday 15 (in 45min or so). He also has 5 assists which is something no other top scorer can match; Ibra, 14 goals, 3 assists; Ronaldo, 13 goals, 2 assists; Van Persie is closest with 4 assists (& 11 goals)... The Eredivisie top scorer has 15 so far, Henrikh Mkhitaryan of Shakhtar has 18 though, only one that can keep up.

Fun fact:

With that Ronaldo, Messi ánd Falcao have scored hat-tricks against Deportivo this season

Ronaldo, 3 goals (2 pen.) in a 5-1 home win
Messi, 3 goals (0 pen.) in a 5-4 away win (also 1 assist)
Falcao, 4 goals (1 pen.) in a 5-0 home win*

*so far

edit: damn you Falcao for making me edit :D

Falcao just scored again.

His movement is absolutely amazing how he reaches that ball before the defender. Split second reaction time.

Needs an update already lol, Falcao edging closer to Messi...

Just the 5 for Falcao tonight. He's not up to much, is he?

I can only remember Defoe and Berbatov in recent times scoring 5 goals in a league game in the 5 top European leagues, and obviously Messi in the CL.

Morientes in 2002 was apparently the last time in Spain

feckin hell, Falcao is a machine. He wasn't kidding when he said he was going to challenge for the pichichi this season.

You have to say, in recent years Atlético have had some world class forwards...

Torres (well...), Agüero, Forlán, now Falcao.

Before that they had Vieri (pre-Inter) and Hasselbaink (pre-Chelsea) as well.

It just makes you wonder, who's next once Falcao inevitably leaves at the end of the season... I would love for him to stay with Atletico and have a season of CL football there but cannot see it happening.

I remember some Brazilian guy scoring 7 goals in a game in the Dutch competition a few seasons ago. Think it was Herenveen, don't remember the player's name.
