La Liga - 2012/2013

What the feck is going on - Alba does a Rooney with goals at both ends

Seems like Barca are going to hold on - although I'm not sure it really is holding on.

What a retarded game that was. Fantastic from Messi again, but Alba's gotta take the prize for best finish. Cracking lob.

Messi with 3 goals and 1 assist. Also hit the post with a free-kick. MotM if I've ever seen one.

Red card was a joke..and Depor's 4th goal was offside

That linesman is definitely a Madridista .

Joke of a penalty and joke of a red card but the football was the winner. Sensational match of zero defense and all out attack. Messi was

Just a genius.

It doesn't even feel like a compliment calling him the best in the world any more. You just look foolish for stating the obvious.

I heard ref didn't want to give Messi the ball after the game, eventough he scored a hattrick. Definitely Madridista.

The score is 4-5, but still the most absurd thing about this match is Barcelonas kit.

Post of the week.

Why doesn't Vilanova give more playing time to his very young CBs ? It's the ideal situation with Puyol and Piqué out and not having a proper back up, playing CMs at the back is crazy but he's got the attack to compensate for that deficiency

Perhaps they're not as good as first believed. For example, Fontas was highly regarded yet has barely featured in the last three seasons. Despite the various issues at centre-half, the fact he's left-footed to complement Puyol/Pique/Mascherano, he now finds himself on loan at Mallorca. Centre half is the position on the pitch more than any other where experience is fundamental and Vilanova has chosen not to gamble on kids who only have half a dozen senior games under their belt.

In fairness, whenever Fontàs did get the chance to make a name for himself, he wound up getting injured. Two serious injuries in a row.

Muniesa was supposed to be the big thing in defence, but he's definitely not being rushed into anything there. Bartra is probably closest to getting his breakthrough at CB, but you're very correct in that experience means a lot, and Tito apparently feels that experience beats being a natural CB.
