Kylian Mbappe | Merci.

Ok mate. You stick to your original point of Mbappe isn’t over valued at €300m with one year left and up for sale by his club. If he had two years left you’d probably value him at €600m. :wenger:

The main point was we're seeing a lot these days that having 1 year left on the contract does not significantly reduce the player's value any longer.
E.g Hazard, Mount, Kane etc
So the question you have to ask yourself is how much is a 24 year old Mbappe worth.
I never said he wasn't over valued @300m I questioned it.

What exactly is the point of him going there for one year then leaving to Real on a free? For him and Real I can see the merit as it’s an easy solution to the PSG problem for both of them, but where is the merit for the SA club in having him there for a year, picking up an insane salary and knowing he’s leaving in a year. He’s hardly going to put in any serious effort there so they won’t even see him at his best. Would it just be to have the name on the team sheet? I don’t see the benefit to them.

Be exiled at PSG for a season or go to Saudi for a nice kick about and earn bonkers money. The thing is though, can see him stay there for a number of years, even if they agree to him leaving for Madrid on a free after one season, will he be happy to take a 95% pay cut when the Saudi's offer him the same again?

Where this all ends up? Possibly like the golf, Premier League/Uefa end up selling to the Saudi's and we end up with a World Super League thing, very possible I feel
If it does then it does. The likes of FIFA and UEFA have made daft amounts of money at the expense of the players and clubs who participate in competitions they put their name on. There’s no reason European leagues couldn’t pay the players close or the same to what they’re getting over in Saudi but greedy corrupt cnuts will never change.

Think about the seismic shift that will happen if he goes there. IT opens the door for any talented player to move. If the best player int he world can play there then anyone can.

He is priceless at this point.
It opens up the door IF you pay 20 times more than any other European team is willing to pay. It is in no way sustainable.

Kane’s last big contract he’d be insane not to head there before some suits at FIFA try to take the money stream for themselves.

As much as i would like to see Mbappe in a red United shirt, i would not hold my breath cause Castles have not been right about anything United related since Mourinho was the manager.

And second thing is that i do not think Ten Hag would like a player wich could potentially bring that much attention with him to unsettle the squad and their focus.

They would hope to convince him with another contract next summer, obviously.

Not entirely true but to some degree he has lost some inside information channels. But it's him who gave the exclusive of a board meeting to sack Ole

True, but would they be able to develop to the standards many have without playing in Europe?

These signings by Saudi teams are all good for PR but I don't think there's any guarantee it will massively raise the quality of the league, and I'm sure many will be surprised by the standard of training facility/stadiums. Also, they're all there for a pay day. Are we really going to see them at their best?

I think Europe - EPL included - does probably need to come up with a mechanism for ensuring that homegrown players remain homegrown, and that clubs in return have a duty to develop and play their youth players. I think that's the best way of competing with projects that flair up such as we're seeing now in Saudi.

Also - I'm not sure how long-term their league plan is. I think much of this is done with their WC bid in mind, and a few years of crazy investment pledges may just convince FIFA to chuck it their way.

Do you have any insights/knowledge on this or are you guessing? I dont know, But I would like to think a country that is willing to pay the money they are paying for players, will have a few bob leftover to make sure they have the latest and greatest facilities.

Thats only for special players, the rest of the players are getting maybe 3/4 times what the European clubs would pay them. I think if players had to chose between 100k in Europe vs 250k over there, more often than not they would go over there. Scale that down for younger players to say 10k in Europe vs 25k over there, again most would take the extra money. Dont forget the tax incentives too.

Because they can?

The Athletic had a pretty good rundown on the hopes and timeframes for the SPL's development.

Basically, they know they're able to attract the headline/attention players with crazy wages but that infrastructure of the game - facility and player development wise will take around a decade. It's a league that is currently ranked 54th in the world for a reason.

But Europe will need to be warry of this, and coming up with plans for big clubs to not be reliant on their signings/having clubs be able to affectively buy their way to success would be a pretty wise move imo. But again, it would mean money being lost from the game - so fat chance.

Isn't the Euros next summer?

Is Mbappe really going to warm up for that tournament in a league like that?

In an alternate universe.......we sell him the dream, sign for United for 5 years but we include a clause that he can leave for Madrid (Only Madrid) after 3 years for X price. He will still only be 27 in 3 years time.

One can dream

I think the Saudi offer is all bluster, otherwise why are other clubs offering player swaps and whatnot?

However the figures are absolutely mad and it sort of gives you an idea what an established Newcastle set up is going to resemble in the next decade. As long as they keep their finances in order no-one will be touching them.

If we could get him on loan we absolutely should. Not sure I follow the logic on PSG's part though as surely he would still leave for free next year.

I have no idea how someone can be so tasteless with their language, especially on a board that children roam.

People keep saying that the world has gone mad, and other such things, but where is the line drawn? £50m is no longer referred to as 'mad' for mediocre players.

it’s just shagging. i didn’t go into the detail, like how at the back of a sheraton hotel in saudi arabia, there’s a dimly lit room. inside, the corpse of football is being held hostage. the door opens and bin salman strides in. he hoiks his thobe to the side, revealing his chub. he groans as an arch of golden piss leaves it and splashes on the lifeless face of football. “mmm. i’ve been waiting for this all day,” he moans breathlessly as he shakes himself off. “i bought mbappe for a billion today. he’ll leave in 6 months. you like that, you piece of shit?” he grunts as he slaps the motionless side of football. “you’ll like this even less.” he says as he summoned his tumescence and started going to town on its valve.

Clearly Mbappe wants to go to Real Madrid in 12 months time, so any club coming in is only getting him for a year. He won't sign a long term contract with anyone else.

No other club is going to pay anything remotely close to 300m Euros for a 1 year stint, so PSG are going to reject every offer except this one.

That leaves Mbappe with either sitting on the PSG bench for a year or playing in the Saudi league for a year, then getting his dream move. He's gonna go to Saudi right!?

Wouldn’t blame if he took the Saudi deal. Its insane money, for a year as well. Secure that bag and move to Madrid a year later its a perfect deal. PSG happy as well. Win-win.

Al Hilal can offer 3000M € that if Mbappé doesn't want to go there, PSG will have to check other offers.

I thought there was a chance Mbappé ended in Madrid this year but 700M€ a year is so crazy that if it's true, I really think Mbappé could be the first top talent in his prime going to the Saudi League...

He would be another Paul Pogba and displace Rashford. The signing makes no sense and I'm sure it would never happen anyway. If our new wage structure is to be believed there is no chance we'd sign him.

Win-win how?

Its a win from the money-perspective, but its a terrible deal for him footballing/legacy-wise, also, Euros coming up in a year.
