Is having Martial gonna be an asset or a hindrance for us? They must be pretty good mates, right? But will Martial's struggles this year gonna be a turn off for Mbappe?
They're not necessarily good mates. Martial strikes me as a bit of a weirdo loner in the Anelka mould.

So I see Sergio Ramos has said Real would welcome Mbappe with "open arms" if he was to consider moving there.

There's just a sense of inevitability about him going to Real tbh, just like there was when they were linked with Benzema. Would be great if we could pull it off though.
There's no inevitability about anything unless he specifically pushes for a move to Madrid and Madrid stump the necessary astronomical fee, which will probably be comfortably more than the Martial fee.

I remember Neymar making similar comments about Pogba a couple of years ago. Didn't matter. Woody has the biggest dick in Europe.

There's no way we sign both Griezmann and Mbappe. It's one or the other for the simple facts that such transfer would stretch even United's finances and you can't really shoehorn both into an effective side. The team you listed would be far too open imo, as Herrera would effectively be playing as a one midfield at times due to Pogba's attacking tendencies.
Pep Guardiola would approve it. His fanboys wouldn't mind it either.

Jokes aside, yes, we are a rich club but we just can't spend 200 mil on two attacking players and ignore other important areas of the squad. Backup RB, LB, CDM are priorities too!

I'm not so sure I can see the English teams obliterating the Spanish, Italian and German teams in the transfer market this year. I think there will be clubs that bypass the £200m transfer mark this forthcoming summer. Us Chelsea and City being the ones I really mean.

You're probably right in that a few English clubs will smash the £200m mark this summer, but if we sign both Griezmann and Mbappe, that's already close to £200m on just two players. Considering that there are other areas of the team whichshould be addressed this summer, and considering that even average players cost more than £20m these days, I don't think United will buy both unless we spend close to £300m which probably won't happen.

I believe we hit the buffers last year at 150m, so no, not likely to hit 300m

Can't we just buy France? Surely it must be cheaper than spending world record fees on single players.

I think in the long run it would pay divident to just buy AS Monaco, let they do their things but transfer their best players to us, give them some of our reject and young talents so they can develop them again etc, but we cant play CL/EL at the same time then.

Mbappé answered about a potential Madrid move yesterday after the game:
"Today I'm in Monaco, we'll see about Real later."
"In order to sign at Real you must be at the peak of your game and I'm not there yet. I still have a lot to learn."

The kid seems to have his head in the right place.

He says players join Madrid at the peak of their careers and that he's not there yet. Looks like he really does have his head set in Madrid.

Thing is, with the way the money is flowing in the PL in general and to us specifically, I really think the genuinely best players at Utd will be priced out even for Real Madrid in few year's time.

No he doesn't. He was specifically asked about a move to real madrid so he answered.

This is like sergio ramos being asked about madrid signing mbappé and him answering "i have nothing to do with transfers, if we sign him he'll be welcome but i don't want to talk about players that don't play for us, it's disrespectfull" and people taking the he'd be welcome part out of context and running with it

Mourinho isn't the only fella who's bewitched by Mbappé :).

He looks a lovely player but I agree getting him and Griezmann seems unlikely and would unbalance our starting XI.

How are we going to fit Mbappe, Griezeman, Neymar and Zlatan in the same team?? Ah well, it's going to be fun finding out.

Mbappé looks like a big, strong, athletic, fast and hugely promising young striker.
Don't we already have two of those?

Yes, but with the right coaching, imagine a floating front 3 consisting of these players. For the right price, I'd take it. I'd say 40m pounds + add-ons is reasonable.

Does a title change mean I should get excited now?

With Ibra staying on now, I'm not so sure we'll get him and Griezmann. It'll probably be Griezmann, but Mourinho being "bewitched" could be a positive thing. I'd love both, but Martial and Rashford would suffer greatly if we did. Especially with Ibra staying on.

That's exactly what I've been trying to make people on this forum understand. It's not about being scared of Madrid poaching our players but I want there to be some sort of loyalty towards the club especially since we don't have many senior players left at the club. And why wouldn't Mbappe want to go to Madrid, his idol plays there at the moment. The weather is much much better than Manchester. And Madrid are taking interest in him for sure. He's not the finished article yet. Once he's been firing 30-40 goals a season, that's when they'll start poaching.

I dunno how true it is but Fabinho said that Mbappe would want to leave Monaco for clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid

On a side note, I would prefer Dembele as well but we already have Martial and Rashford who play on the wings.
Mbappe has already turned down Madrid once. They invited him over showed him around, whipped out Zidanne to give him the tour and he opted to stay at Monaco. So he clearly has a brain. Also his idol played and was mounded in Manchester.
I do agree that as time goes on I would say the life style in Spain is going to appeal to him. That's why we rushed the Martial deal as others showed interest and we figured we needed to lock it in early. I imagine the same thought process would go with Mbappe if we were to move for him.

Another thing to take in to account this is the new Galactico united. It's very likely that from here on out we are going to start throwing the money weight around and great players attract great players.

Personally I think another year for him at Monaco maybe 2 is best for him.but can we afford to wait that long. Also Monaco want him to be the first 100mil player. It's a huge risk and investment to take him now. But if he continues in this vane of form what is he going to be worth in 2 seasons.

Watch us get both.

If Mourinho wants him, the board will get it done.

The fee will be high but the wages shouldn't be more than, say, Martial's.

Griezmann will get top whack wages when he comes.

If you understand how football clubs record transfers in their accounting books, you will know that United could spend a mammoth amount this summer with ease.

Let's say he costs £80m for illustrative purposes. Deprecated over five years and that is £16m a year.

£150k wages would seem reasonable. That's £7.8m per year.

Total cost per year in the accounts would be around £24m a year for five years.

That is roughly the annual wages of Rooney and Schweinsteger combined if the report numbers are remotely accurate.

We are gonna splash big this summer.

We won't get him for 40 mill though.Besides who's going to make the chances for this front 3?

Would prefer Dembele.
Me too but not a hope he is moving anytime soon. He is at the perfect club and league to develop, he personally choose Dortmund last year. Just can't see him move this summer, 2018 at the earliest.

We'll see, if he keeps advancing at this rate someone will go in big in the fear of missing out. Not sure BVB can resist record offers or Demble a huge wage hike.

Interest in Mbappe probably comes from the realization that Griezmann doesn't want to move to England. Not so sure Mbappe wants to either, mind.
