Kylian Mbappé joins PSG on one year loan with option to buy

There are more logical reasons for him to join PSG than Real Madrid. They've been talked about to death (family, friends, country, better salary, a guarantee of titles, a guarantee of playing time, bigger wages and a team that is one of the favorite for the CL).

PSG has been put forward as a dark horse favorite for CL literally from the time their project started, at least where i'm from. Up until now, Manchester City (who have rightfully been considered a joke in Europe) managed one CL semi final appearance, PSG still stands at zero. They need to do at least something in Europe before being branded a favorite, as simple as that.

I said one of the favorite and this by virtue of their squad and adding Neymar. You don't believe, just check the bookies. Being among the favorite can mean a lot just as it can mean feck all. It depends what you wanna believe.
Man United is one of the favorite for the PL despite being nowhere near any serious title challenge for a while.

Seems to be a caf favourite to use Owen to downplay Mbappé. And yes, anything could go wrong quickly. Pogba could slip in the shower and shatter his leg, would United have been stupid to splash all that cash on him?
No, cos Pogba had been consistently brilliant for a while, not an 18 year old with half a season behind him. Do you see?

You do know that Owen won the Ballon d'Or and also scored 40 times for England. If not for his persistent injuries, he could have broken the England scroing record as well. If Mbappe does as well as Owen, he will be doing very well for himself.
Yeah I'm well aware of it being an English Liverpool fan.

Injuries being the pertinent point here, hence how it can all go pear shaped fast. If Mbappé went to Real, had an average season or two then spent his time after at Newcastle, Uniteds bench and Stoke city I pretty much think he'd be disappointed tbh.

I saw him play and I can tell you if is worth the 200 million then Messi would be worth 1 billion, they can't even compare the 2 players, I wouldn't trade him for Isco or asencio for example
You're making a very normal point about Mbappe's reported valuation being far too unreasonable.

But then you're ruining your creditibilty by massively undervaluing him at 30m. I genuinely thought you missed the '1' before the 30.

Then you compare him to a bit part Madrid squad player in Asensio who has scored something like 6 goals last season compared to Mbappe's 21 in league and CL. Not to mention Mbappe is three years younger than Asensio. There's not a comparison to be made there.

Injuries can happen to any player at any time. Owen's injuries happened when he was quite young (because Liverpool overplayed him at such a young age). You cannot judge another player based on Owen. Watch him in a few more games and watch his movement and finishing. He is the closest player I have seen to Theirry Henry. If he avoids injury, he and Neymar will be the world's best 2 players after Ronaldo and Messi are done.

Yes, but the point is anything could go wrong at any time, to anyone. That shouldn't stop teams from investing big money in big players. Mbappé is a risk, but no nearly as much as you seem to make him out to be. And Owen is entirely the wrong comparison to make

£150m or so that is being quoted for him is a ridiculous price. The boy has plenty of talent but as been said a lot over the last few pages, he's only been playing this well for a few months. You don't pay that sort of money for a player who still has so much to prove. He did score nearly 30 goals last season at 18 but that's too short of a timespan to be able to judge a player properly. You'd have paid £80m for Michu a few years ago with that sort of logic.

On the other hand PSG do not care about the money. They could write off £500m of signings just like that, so from their perspective it's a good idea to pay £150m for a young player who appears to have the potential to be one of the top 5 players in the world, especially as they already have someone who is top 5 at the moment and still so young that he could play at such high level for another 5-7 years. At one point they will have Mbappe and Neymar at their peak/close to their peak which could potentially work out as having Messi and Ronaldo at the same time (even if Mbappe doesn't hit Messi/Ronaldo levels, he could still be a top, top player in a world where Messi and Ronaldo don't play anymore).

Monaco ultras think Mbappé wants too much money for a renewal considering what he has proven and shouldn't be above the institution.

They trust the board to take the appropriate decision and don't want to reinforce the competition.

Quite a bit of hypocrisy in this communiqué in my opinion.

Edit: Indirectly the Monaco ultras are pressing their board to sell Mbappé but not to Paris.

And they base their opinion on rumors. Sometimes it's best to say nothing.

I mean, if you are going to claim to be Ultras, maybe don't have your publications headed using disco font?

Someone new will probably have come along by then.

£163m gamble. Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. You can somewhat see the logic in the exorbinant amount PSG paid for Neymar, a proven, once off talent, but this.

This is a farce.

Martial is the closest thing to Thierry Henry in terms.of style.

Mbappe for me reminds me bit of the Fat Ronaldo.

The money is irrelevant. Is he a great player, yes. Would you want him in your team, yes.

Either way, hand it to their fans - I'd take the same approach if it were my club, a big reason I wanted to see Barcelona cash in on Neymar now. This sort of valuation of players cannot possibly continue and while Kylian is a terrific talent - it's a ridiculous sum of money being discussed.

Strange events in European football

Insane price if true. Luckily for him, it will be overshadowed by Neymar to an extent, lessening the pressure a bit. He could be a prodigy and its probably best he's staying in the french league. I could regret saying this long-term, but I'm glad it's not us paying this much. The pressure would be astronomical for a young guy switching leagues and country's at 18 and would be immediately asked to be a top 10 player in the league. Just think of the pressure people put on Martial, and he went for peanuts compared to the rumored Mbappe fee. I get Mbappe is slightly younger and more proven, but even ignoring inflation, he's about to become the 2nd most expensive player in the world, and the 2nd most expensive from this window. Martial's fee was big but still behind KDB, Sterling, and Di Maria from that window, and cheaper than Suarez, Luiz, James, and Di Maria again from the previous window. Mbappe's fee is going to blow everyone but Neymar's fee out of the water. It's notably ahead of more proven guys like Pogba, Lukaku, Higuain, and Lacazette who are significantly more proven and have only moved in the last two summer transfer windows.

Now, he easily has the talent to make it look foolish, and if he plays like Michael Owen did from 18 to 24 or so, he'll be worth this ridiculous fee, and who knows if he breaks down like Owen's did. I wonder if these fees are the new benchmark or an aberration caused by the Neymar fee. I have trouble believing one summer has made Mbappe worth 80 million more than Pogba. I understand the ridiculous Neymar fee, he's a ready-made top 5 player in the world, with a strong chance of becoming the top as his competitors' age. He's also a massive commercial property.

If he reaches his potential they will never let him leave, he may end up playing his entire career in the french league.

- We are the Ultras since 1994
- We have to comment the news regarding Mbappé
- We are shocked by the amounts we see in the press and his salary expectations
- Nobody worth these amounts, especially a player who played dozens of games in his career
- We believe in the values of a popular football
- Nobody is above the institution/club

Monaco Ultras....

What a joke

Monaco has ultras?

Between 7 and 24 guys IMO

Going against what everyone else probably will say, but I'd happily have Mbappe at that price.

He will go on to be the next Brazilian Ronaldo. In 5 years time that price will be looked at like how Pogbas is now.

The man had spoken

Humor #PSG: increasingly near #Mbappè. It also insists for over 200 million

Fabinho
Pastore - Verrati
Mbappe - Cavani - Neymar

Feck me, that's a hell of a team.

No excuses for them for not challenging for CL this year.

Psg are literally mocking Ffp now.

And Monaco gonna struggle. Though Moura is going to be a good acquisition.

It is becoming another Bayern and Dortmund situation here.

You can build stadiums for what they spent on two players. I hope UEFA are thorough in their investigations.
