Koeman: "If Rooney ever becomes an option for Everton, I would be very pleased."

Denis law played for city and scored a back heel that confirmed united to relegation

I see this comparison quite a bit.

First difference, United let Law go.

Second difference, Dennis Law wasn't a multi millionaire set for the rest of his life. With only a year or two of his career left he had to earn a living. Mortgage to pay, kids to feed.

You make it sound like the choices the two men had are identical when I fact they were completely opposite. Law was in a needs must situation. Rooney was an extremely rich man who used his status to earn even more money.

It's a terrible comparison.

Wouldn't this be the first time an England captain has ever been bought midseason by a blond Dutch manager on Merseyside? It's never gonna happen.

Giving him away free to them might offset the wages. They can afford 1-2 years of his silly wages if they get him for free, will do them a world of good marketing wise. They won't distort their wage structure either since it will be pretty clear for the rest of the squad that it is a special case.

They were different economic times, different market places and a different Manchester United. They cannot be compared on those terms.

In pure footballing terms Rooney is about to become the all time top scorer at this club. He has also contributed to the most successful period in this clubs history. If that doesn't make him a club legend then I don't know what does.

I get it that people harbour bad feeling towards Rooney especially since his form has dropped off but the same people will be remembering him with misty eyes in 10 years

I understand the opinion behind Rooney being a legend but using Law to support that argument is badly flawed. It's irrelevant. As you say, everything was different back then.

Actually having just read up and refreshed my memory on Denis law they have a lot in common.law told busby that if he didn't get a pay rise in his new contract he'd leave. In early 70s his form declined, he was put up for sale and no takers. He was then given a free transfer to city and came back to haunt united with that goal

A lot in common? Mate come on you must be kidding. Law HAD to make a living. He was at the end of his career.

Rooney was just using the threat of a move to squeeze out even more obscene wealth.

Koeman just mentioned Rooney again in his post match interview -

"How likely is it? I don't know, we can hope. Maybe if it happens in the future I don't know. Rooney is very welcome at Everton."

The big difference is that Rooney's form declined in his late 20's.

Koeman: "He is a great player and he still hasn’t finished his career.

I don’t know his situation, I need to respect that.

If there is a possibility of Rooney at Everton, I would be very pleased."

We need to get this deal signed and delivered asap.
Do it before he spends a few minutes thinking about it and then tries to change his mind!!!!

Fergie 100% knew that Rooney did not look after himself enough to still perform into his 30's like Giggs/Scholes etc and was desperate to get rid of him. A mid-table manager like Moyes would never have the experience or know-how to figure out something like that as he only knows how to grind out mid-table finishes with players like Osman/Fellaini/Yakubu. Rooney would have been shipped off to PSG in 2013 had Fergie stuck around another season or two.

We need to get Rooney out of this club as quickly as possibly. He's dragging his heels hoping that the club will continue to pay him £300,000 a week for as long as possible despite being on the bench. Rooney has been a brilliant servant over the years but he was finished as an elite footballer over 2 years ago. The club has been very fair with him and it's time he showed us a little respect back by taking his overweight arse to a club like LA Galaxy or Everton pronto

at least 3OM mil pounds.. that's what they should get if they sign him

If he is really a bad influence in the club we should loan him out for a season or two. We're unlikely to get anyone to come close to his wages so ordinarily I would say leave him on the bench and see what happens but if he is going to the newspapers then even on the bench is a problem.
