Koeman: "If Rooney ever becomes an option for Everton, I would be very pleased."

Rooney said recently that Kai is a huge Barkley fan. Therefore, this has legs for sure.

It would be like us signing Ronaldo back off Real when he's 40, spending his best years at another club and coming back when he knows he ain't good enough!

I would laugh to hell and back, if he goes there and somehow manages to regain some form. Highly, highly unlikely, but I'd laugh.

Why is it good PR to say that?
Well he can't exactly say Rooney is shit so doesn't want him. He's an experienced manager and knows how these sort of questions can be tricky.

Just look at how everyone from media to Mou himself have to sugarcoat everything about Rooney's performances instead of simply saying he's shit.

Of course he has to say that. Not because Rooney is a good player, cos everyone knows he aint but imagine how much revenue the brand Rooney will bring for them. Rooney is only useful as commercial commodity to anyone!

Rooney's a goner for sure. If not in Jan then in the summer.

Everton have been great at taking on our deadwood over the years: Tim Howard, Phil Neville, Tom Cleverley, Darron Gibson...

Come on Ronald, you know you want to

In fact, we'll give you Rooney + £15 million for Lukaku. Cheers.

Money would possibly be a problem but from a marketing point of view he would be a huge asset for Everton.

We'd obviously let him go on a free but he has 2 years left after this season on huge money, he probably stands to earn around £25m over the next 2 years in wages from the club. Everton could probably justify paying him around £18m over a 2 year period bearing in mind he'd be a free and and he'd raise the profile of the club.

I'd bite their hand off for even 10m if they'd offer it. Thats £250k off our wage bill too!

Can't see Everton buying Rooney now. That would be like us signing a, I don't know, a 34 year old Zlatan Ibrahimovich.

One coming off his best season of his career, and the other one coming off his worst season. Yupp, quite similar.

This would strengthen us and weaken a smaller rival team's squad and finances. Would drive him to Liverpool myself.

Everton have a new rich owner, I am sure they could afford Rooney. Even if it's a 2 year contract it would be worth it for them to raise their profile abroad.

I don't think much of this though - if Rooney wanted to actually to leave United it would only be for an equal or more pay check (ie MLS).

I suppose returning for Everton allows him to play himself into the England's team but he's only going to get worse in a years time imo.

Well throw in free gift wrap and postage too if that helps!

When did Everton fans become more tolerant of Rooney? Always thought they couldn't stand him.

He's going nowhere until he gets the record.

*If* he ever gets the record.

When you start as a striker against Northampton and struggle to find the target, let alone the net, it doesn't look too promising.

Watch what you wish for...that'll be nice for Wayne to go back. He isn't good enough to crack their starting XI as the primary CF. He'll score goals, but he's no longer a player that you can rely on for 10 months to challenge for the title. Get that wage off United's book and redistribute it for someone(s) else.

wonder if i can apply anywhere to be a chauffeur for united/everton/whoever would be responsible for getting him out of old trafford and driving him down to liverpool. I'd do it pro bono and in record time.

Clearly Kai is the next coming of Diego and they want to sweeten up White Pele.

Seriously, Rooney'll have to decide if it's more important to make more money, or to maintain his chances of being in the England squad. Can't have both.
More money means the China option
England Squad means taking the possible option of either Everton or another team like them - if he agreed to a massive pay cut.

In any case, I doubt Koeman is serious:lol:

I'd be pleased for Wayne if he returned to the club that has his heart, so to speak. I think he'd make a special effort, and do well there. However, didn't he say recently that he wouldn't play for another PL club (other than United, that is)?

They clearly haven't been watching his performances for the last three years.

Who is Everton's highest paid player? I think the best they could offer is 150k per week but even that is a 100k pay cut although I think Rooney would accept it. His family are settled in the north west and I definitely don't think he will go to China. If he ever does leave England it will probably be to the MLS.
Read something on ESPN the other day about how Rooney might be a possibility for the LA Galaxy when/if Gerrard leaves. Let me see if I could dig it up. Guess the writer at ESPN got this from the Sun so not holding my breath. Plus, apparently Gerrard only makes a quarter of what Rooney is currently on.

Rooney to replace Gerrard in MLS
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard could play a key role in Wayne Rooneyswapping Manchester United for Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy, according to the Sun.

They reckon Rooney, who was out of favour under Jose Mourinho at United before being injured, could move to MLS, with the Galaxy already enquiring as to how much the England captain would cost.

The move would only be allowed if Gerrard departs the Galaxy, something that has been reported as a possibility, freeing up space for a new designated player to arrive. But one stumbling block could be Rooney's salary, with Gerrard said to only earn a quarter of what his former Premier League colleague takes home.

I might be in the minority but I find the treatment of Rooney by our fans a joke, I hope he stays and breaks the clubs goal scoring record atleast and I am sure he will.

Everyone who are wanting him out are probably the same ones who cheered like little school kids when RVP scored against us last week, a guy who blames Fergies departure on his 2 year spell of doing nothing for us. Or the same ones who are in love with Ronaldo despite him having his best years at another club.

Would anyone be happy if tried to get Lukaku and add Rooney in any part of the deal, or just straight up Rooney to Everton for cash?
Straight up cash for me. Lukaku is too inconsistent - which we don't need. We have Martial, whom Jose needs to guide and play him when fit. Martial has the talent and our resources should be going into developing him and Rash imo.

Nope.

He's only 31 ffs not 99. If united give him a free then surely Everton could come to an agreement with him.

Tell you what, lukaku-Rooney would be a good front line for them. Rooney might have lost his pace and a bit Iof sharpness but he can still do a job in this league. Just united look better without him now

Why is it good PR to say that?
Apart from not wanting to be controversial by saying the national captain of the country in which he's managing is shit, Everton being in the market for a player of Rooney's standing in the game, does actually reflect well for Everton's image.

He'd have to take a wage cut, or we'd have to work out a deal where the transfer fee is so small that his wages are covered. Maybe a free transfer?
