Very good today. Ugarte is a beat but Kobbie's ability off the ball is also miles ahead of Casemiro and Eriksen and is a bit underrated.

Excellent again today. Glad he'll have a week to rest now, his stamina still needs work but he's physically so strong and so good on the ball.

He played very well in the last game and continued with that today. He's starting to form a good understanding with Ugarte. Much better. His stamina is still a concern for me as it looks like we'll always need to sub him off at the hour mark.

Was very pleasantly surprised how good he was with his pressing and general defending today, one time he let Gravenberch go where maybe Ugarte would have stopped him but it wasn't really a defensive lapse, more good attacking play. And on the ball he looked as good as I've seen him this season. Have always thought he ideally needs to be in a midfield 3 to get the best out if him by helping to hide his lack if elite athleticism and be able to play off another midfielder close to him, but maybe him and Ugarte could be a good pairing after all.

Some dodgy passing at the start of the game but then started to grow into the game and came out with the ball in some very tight spaces. Was also getting stuck in whenever required.

Fantastic to see him play well and bring the fight. With Ugarte our only peak midfielder we desperately need Mainoo to elevate himself beyond his years and as well just not let the games past you by be too casual while developing.

The kid's alright. Mainoo's looked a little lost this season but over the last week he's stepped it up. Hard to judge how much he improved us last Monday, cos Newcastle dropped off. No questions about what he did this evening.

Good midfield performance today, brave on the ball. Needs to become better at tackling, gets ran past so easily, though

Very good on the ball and good when he needed to win the ball back. Yet, off the ball he was the weak link in our system, Liverpool constantly found a way to play around him.

Not sure what's going on with his pace. He was always on the slow side but it feels like he's playing at x0,8 speed this season. I can only hope that it's the match fitness issue.

He's still the best partner for Ugarte in our squad though, don't get me wrong.

I'm surprised about how highly he's being praised today. I actually thought he was probably the worst player on the pitch in the first half, although second half he got his shit together and was good. Hopefully that good form continues going forward.
Up and down game. Lots of time he was getting swarmed. Some he got out of well, some he turned it over. To be expected really. Considering his age a pretty good showing against title leaders right now

I’m not that happy with him today. Without Ugarte saving him over and over again it could have been more open through the middle.

I still think he is a diamond. What is big, big problem is him going to play for England last summer. It brought him backwards in development. Southgate shouldn’t have taken him.

2nd performance in a row where he's back to being a ball winner in the middle, having not done it when he first came back from injury

4 tackles, 1 interception makes it 1 more interception and the same tackles as Ugarte

My thoughts exactly. He has some good moments, but Liverpool have consistently found a way past him with ease in the 1st half (minus that sliding tackle he won). He Is a bit of a liability in our defensive shape as he lacks the core fundamentals for the CM role IMO but we don’t have anyone better right now.

Played well today. He needs to be better at cross field passing, his role should be to dictate the tempo of the game and I don’t think he is as influential as I think he can be.

I hate when these stats guys pull selective stats to suit their agenda. Mainoo wasn't poor, but it wasn't the flawless performance Neville kept trying to make out. He was a 7/10 at best.

A real picture of performance of his game is:

44 touches
22/29 passes completed (76%)
1/1 long balls completed
0 key passes
6/11 ground duels won
0/5 aerial duels won
1/2 dribbles completed
4 tackles
1 interception
1 foul
Dribbled past - 3 times
Was fouled - Once

Can't believe this guy is only 19 years old, I think people forget that. He is also playing in one of the most technically challenging roles out there. I agree he needs to work on his stamina, but that's easy to fix for a young lad.

Great game today, miles ahead of Casemiro and Erikson.

I think he's getting better and better since returning from injury. When he does make the odd mistake they are far better covered in this system (and by Ugarte).

He is still learning but his poise is really something.

We really do need another solid Premier League level midfielder of a decent age to avoid running him and Ugarte into the ground.

People tend to forget he's played 62 professional games in his life and is only 19. He's an absolute joke for his experience at the top level. He was excellent today. He's a slam dunk to be one of Europe's best players in the next 10 years.

Bouncing back well after his horror show against Wolves, good to see. If he had a better engine on him he'd be world class.

Really don't understand what game people were watching who said he was a weak spot today.

People convince themselves of something and just run with it.
Our players aren't allowed to have a bad run of games.
Kobbie was immense yesterday, him and Ugarte were the base for the whole performance.

Once shit, always shit. Look how difficult it is for fans to say that Maguire is doing so much better. Took forever

Thought that was probably his most well-rounded performance of the season. He was very good. Did many of the same things that Ugarte did, although not quite to the same level. Especially liked the intensity he played with, and that he wasn' trying unnecessary flicks and stuff. Seems clear that him and Ugarte is the partnership to go with.

He has the skills to take it to the next level. Just needs patience and hard work. I’m hoping he also has good coaches who can help him with that.

It’s very easy to see that these 2 should be our starting midfielders. They complement each other and have lots of potential to grow into a solid partnership

Thats been clear from day one. The issue is that Amorim was rotating the squad to try and allow himself some time to coach and allow the players a little bit of rest. The replacement for the two of them are massive step downs and Amorim knows that but he also knows that he needs to try and keep these two fit and firing for the important games because a long term injury to either of them would be a very big problem.

There's been a weird growing current of people who seem intent on downplaying his talent and quality as a midfielder. In reality, he's a gem of footballer and one that we've been crying out for for years. He's the type of player I'm willing to give so much time for him to develop his game, since technically he has the required level for a man utd player.

If managed and coached correctly he's going to be a top player, fans need to give our young players breaks, they are going to go through rough patches and shouldn't be written off immediately.
