Exactly. So keep Mount well away, as he was chief culprit in our first few dire performances; being by far the worst midfielder of the lot. Just play Mainoo. Scrap this Mason Mount bollocks. Just have Mount sit on the bench and come on for Bruno when he needs a rest. Or something. Keep him well away from the first choice starting XI.
Not sure if serious.

Nice. In my head Mainoo - Amrabat is already better midfield than current Casemiro and what is left from Eriksen.

I was really hoping Casemiro would do the job for 2-3 years when we signed him but he's fallen off quite a bit :(

I know people are annoyed with our current window given our start to the season but the real crime was Ten Hag's first window - the whole FdJ chase, paying too much for Antony / Casemiro.

100% serious. Complete waste of money. We spent 55m on a player in the final year of his contract who has been shite for club and country for the past 18 months. And nothing has changed since he come to United. His pre-season performances and first few games tells you everything about the level of player he is. A complete nothing player. Does he even have a preferred position? 10? We got Bruno - miles better. 8? He's already shown us how good of an 8 he is. . . 55m on a player that runs around. Fred did that. And Fred averaged 40 something passes a game, while Mount pulled out a big 14 passes in his last outing. He's shite.

:wenger:

I am actually of the opinion it's not exactly Mount's fault. I think he's been used badly. He needs to play deeper as part of the midfield. He was part of the attacking formation more than anything else. This makes us unbalanced.

I agree. He's not an 8, has never been an 8, and will never be an 8. Also, he's not of the quality of player that we should be spending 55m on - especially in the final year of his contract. He's been shite for the past 18 months for club and country - and that hasn't changed since he came to United.

Ghaaaa you just broke my phone

If you think 14 passes in 85 minutes, 0 tackles, etc. from a central midfield position isn't indicative of a dog-shit performance, I don't know what is.
Oh so you are one of those, the stats only Andy, now it makes sense, no use arguing then if you see football only through numbers.

Mount is obviously not a CM as such but he may play on the right with Antony otherwise engaged, or Bruno on the right with Mount playing the Bruno role

So you think Mount was the better of our midfielders when he amassed a total of 14 passes, 0 tackles, 0 key passes, lost 75% of his duels, (the list goes on), in his most recent performance?

Nah, that's absolute wank for a central midfielders. For context, the much derided Fred, McTominay and Van De Beek, NEVER had less than 14 passes in a match that they started. ANd this is our marquee signing. The one we chased above all others. Our new number #7.

Please, he's fecking wank, and has been for the past 18 months or so.

I think extrapolating from one and a half games is the epitome of stupidity.

He's played 2 games for his new club. Get a fecking grip.

No. I'm not at all. But you don't have to be into stats to realise that's a horrendous return from a central midfielder. He's been shite to the eye, too.

He's been in the premier league how long?

He's fecking shit, mate. It's not like he was performing for Chelsea, either. He has been shite for them for the past season and a half, too. Any more excuses for this fella stealing a living at United?

He's been good for Chelsea for the past 18 months? Nope. Wank there, too.

If you're going to say something is the 'epitome' of stupidity, at least spell it correctly. Jesus.

Who fecking cares how long he is in PL, going into whole different system can take time to get used to, use fecking common sense for once. This isn't FIFA.

 own goal on the damn auto correct but you have gaping holes in your argument. It's a different position from Chelsea and last year their entire squad was a circus. Not comparable is it?

I ask you. Without making a million excuses, has he been good at Chelsea and the National team for the past 18 months?

Yes / No.

Well, it is.

The only information I have to go off on is his performances for United, and his performances for Chelsea and the national team.

All of which have been dire.

Recency is a thing in football. And recently, he's been rubbish. Dele Alli was once good, too, you know? There's a plethora of players who have had a decent season or two, but overall, massively failed to live up to expectations. Until Mount starts performing, he's in that bucket.

Tbf nobody was good at Chelsea for last 18 months.

So you decided to cherry pick stats and confirm your recency bias?

Good logic. Really superb stuff.

Honestly what sort of a shit fan classes a player as some failure 1.5 games in

What possesses somebody to sign up for a United forum, post nowt for 15 years, then of all the shit that has happened to the club in that time... the burning issue that causes you to finally post is that you need to bang on about how a lad who has played 2 games for us is the new Dele Alli across half the threads on the board?

Did Mount shag your missus or something?

Deeper than what? He’s always been an advanced midfielder, and has often been part of the front trio for Chelsea.

He was injured half the time, other half he was playing in dysfunctional Chelsea team where no one was good, again, common sense. Not only stats and numbers.

Yes / No.

He was injured and played in a destabilized Chelsea side that had 3 different managers and was in complete chaos that season.

Did you also want Rashford gone after his terrible 21/22 season?

He's been good for Chelsea for the past 18 months? Nope. Wank there, too.

You mean the time where he was carrying an injury and then the time he was out after having an operation on the injury he was carrying?

Good to read we've turned the mainoo performance thread into a Mount shitting on thread, way to go guys.

Came in here for some much needed optimism, and it's a shitshow about Mason Mount. Come on boys, let us have something.

This is why I questioned this transfer in the first place. Like I said, I think we need to take a hit and play him deeper. Probably out of position, but this setup with Mount/Bruno in advanced position and Casemiro as the connector is never going to work. It's flawed.

To be fair the Chelsea fans predicted Mount would split fans. He's probably always going to have a certain amount of defenders that praise his "tactical ability" and pressing. Probably not his quality mind.

Personally I don't think he's ever been that good so it's not as if the fact he's played 2 games means I need to wait until all the evidence comes in because that's an opinion already formed based on PL and international appearances. I don't think theres much mystery. He's had a good season or two, it doesn't make an overall top player. Okay at best, and maybe not even okay in a central midfield position which is a key issue. I'm not writing him totally off as a United player because that's where the 2 games does come into it, but I'm writing off that he's anything better than decent.

Much more excited about Mainoo as an actual midfield player. Wants the ball. I'd sooner play him in that position any day than Mason Mount. He will give more control.

Is this the Mason Mount thread or the Kobbie Mainoo thread? Happy to see he's back in training, one of the few things left looking forward to when it comes to this team.

I think we have a number of better suited players for that role.

I can't wait to have him back, he is so incredibly talented and he absolutely has to play. If he was promoted from La Masia, he'd be playing regularly for Barcelona by now.

The level of expectation around Mainoo is absolutely unbelievable. I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it at Utd before. The closest I can think is Januzaj. I really wonder how many competitive matches people have seen him in to come to this conclusion.

Atleast you gave Mount 2 whole games before you wrote him off, fair play.
