Klopp to leave Liverpool at the end of the season

Surprising, but good news.

But why announce these news now? Why not wait few more weeks?
Ye i would have waited. Their top of the league and it could have an affect on his team or it could go the other way and he could use it as motivation to win the league before he leaves.

When he announced that he would leave Dortmund his team really got a push, so he has experience in how to turn such an announcement into extra motivation.

Wanted Klopp at United when Moyes was there. Was gutted when he went to them and I have been proved right as he's been outstanding.

I genuinely believe he's a better manager than Pep. Klopp could do everything Pep has done if he had been in his shoes. I don't believe Pep would have done anything near what Klopp did with the finances he had at Liverpool.

Saying that I can't stand the cnut and am glad he has decided to leave. Let's hope they mess up the next manager like we did.

Great news, though it was bound to happen sooner or later. All that “pashun” takes its toll. It was never sustainable and he’s jumped before being tasked on a new rebuild.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up back at Dortmund. They’re not exactly flying at the minute. Has Mourinho been linked as his replacement yet?

Won’t be Pep.

All the staff are leaving too
I was banking on Lijnders. He says he wants to be a mgr himself. So either they have lined up someone already or he might think the job is too big. I don’t efn know. Christ this came out of the blue. Feck

Just hope they don't get Alonso as a replacement. Come on Madrid, do your thing. Let them take a punt on some up and coming manager like Ten Hag and run into trouble.

Great news.

I assume that the choice of timing has to be because:

1) He thinks that this will spur them on in the latter stages of the season (in the sense that they will all want to win another trophy for him); and

2) Because they have got Alonso lined up already.

Wow, lots of respect for Klopp. Going to be tough for them going forward. Not a fan of a lot of his 'antics', but have to admire the job he has done. Would love for United to somehow have gotten strong enough again and beaten Pool with Klopp. Glad he's gone ofcourse.

I think it’s safe to assume both those things are false

Will the news spur the team on or feck them up mentally? Could be a fun collapse ahead if it's the latter.

More likely a paper had got wind of it.

Did very good at Liverpool and can win a lot this season.

But there are lack of trophies. That is the fact.

A CL, EPL (after 30 yr drought), FA cup, League Cup, Super Cup. I wouldnt call that a lack of trophies.
Some hard fought 92 and 97 points 2nd place finishes. I think Liverpool would be very pleased with the way he managed to be the only real contender to pep era despite spending a lot less

Looking for funny memes etc to rip into mates over this…

TBH if City weren't cheating bastards, Pool would've been the most dominant team in the league the past decade. Just the fact that he pushed Guardiola all the way with a much smaller budget and after inheriting a worse team says it all.

Tears in my eyes. I used to pray for times like this. Its finally happening.

Good manager and I’m glad he’s going. I reckon they’ll struggle to keep hold of some of their bigger names, many of whom are being paid below market value so they can play for him.

Some of the smoke being blown up his arse is a bit much through. People saying he’s the best manager in the world and that he’s such a great guy! Give it a rest.

He’s won 1 league title and 1 CL. Yes he came up against Ped Guardiola and Corruption FC, but he also lost out to Raineri’s Leicester and Conte’s Chelsea, as well as finishing below Ole and Eric’s United, Howe’s Newcastle and Lego Peps Arsenal. It wasn’t City winning European Cups ahead of him in 8 of the 9 seasons he was there.

He’s also a bully and a thug. There will be assistant refs and 4th officials up and down the country breathing a sigh of relief at today’s news. Same can’t be said for some the of the pharmacists though.

He’s been good for Liverpool and they’ll miss him. But I wouldn’t want him here, not now when he’s spent and can’t hack it anymore.

It just goes to show the man Fergie was, having the stamina and endurance to keep rebuilding great teams and the energy to keep motivating them for so long.

Hopefully Alonso goes to Madrid instead of replacing Klopp as I can see him doing great.
Even if Alonso joins Liverpool, its laughable to think he will get anywhere near what Klopp did for them. That is an all-time great manager.

Wow, the top 10% can choose when or when not to work. Klopp is no different by quitting this summer.

Whereas, majority nowadays work paycheck to paycheck, and cannot take a break even when they need or want.

1 league title though with absolute shit show seasons slotted in between mostly failed title challenges. Not laughable to think somebody else could do that. Although I guess nobody else did for 25 years before Klopp.

To be fair I'd never say a United manager had failed if we lost the title with 97 and 92 points, that's just not managing to win it. It's certainly an extremely successful league season by any standards anywhere.

That's a shame. He's the perfect fit for them, and turned them into a worthy competitor. Personally I'd much rather see Pep go instead.

As much as its good for us, the PL wont be the same.

I think Pep's last season is 2024/25. I'm getting this weird feeling that he's also making plans to leave City with the rebuilding he's doing.

Klopp was competing with the City and Guardiola. That's not easy for any manager.

Hopefully Liverpool returns to the mediocrity era they were in before Klopp. Today is a good day.
