Klopp Confirmed Liverpool Manager

Don't get me wrong, I think Klopp is an excellent manager, and he very may well be the second coming - but I'm not gonna join the end of the world train just yet. I'm not saying Klopp is going to have them fighting in the top four come the end of the season, but Liverpool are stuck with that squad until January at least. I'm also aware that Klopp won back-to-back Bundesliga titles, and guided them to the UCL final, but the Bundesliga has been such a 2 horse race in recent years. Again, not knocking the strength of foreign teams - for all I know, Darmstadt may be able to tear us a new one - but this is a new territory for him, in a league where you have more than the same one or two teams fighting you for the title every year.

Who knows, he might be the scousers' Jose, he might be their Moyes. He's still got a fair bit of work to do to get that squad to the same calibre of a title-winning team, and in the mean time, those rivals are only going to buy and get stronger. Worst case scenario is he has the Simeone effect and shits all over the world class players/squads in the league.

tl;dr - I don't see how this is the end of our title hopes. He's achieved greatness with Dortmund, but this is a whole other scenario.

Klopp said himself it takes a team at least a year to adapt to his ideas and tactics. Added to the fact that a lot of the players in that team don't suit his profile of a player, lots of the team is imbalanced and he will need to bring in and allow the new players to adjust, I am positive that Liverpool will not hit top form for at least a year.

Even when they do, I suspect with the nature of the Premier League, his tactics will be figured out much quicker then at Dortmund. When that happens, he will need to adapt, which until now he hasn't been able to.

Why does he elicit hard-ons in so many poeple? Is it his floppy hair? His nauseating smile? His dickhead glasses? His douchebag fashion sense?

I don't get it at all. How is there even such a thing as a 'favourite manager'? It's plain weird.

His plane landed safely. It's inevitably gonna happen.

I have to admit that I'm getting a bit excited, too, because I was wondering for some time how he would do in the Premier League. Liverpool seems a good fit to me as I see his strengths in (re-)building and not in refining, and I would have been very surprised if he ended up signing for an oil or Sheikh club like Chelsea or City.

This is going to be so odd. I like him a lot. Pretty much the perfect character for club like ours.

I hope he fails miserably.
He seems like such as awesome guy but same as, I want him to fail :)

He's a nutter though. This could be entertaining. Yes he could get it very, very right for them. But last season was horrific from him, so I don't think he represents any sort of guarantee.
I agree. His style leaves them exposed at the back. He needs to get it just right or this may not go well for them.

One thing I am worried about is the type of players he'll be able to bring in.......Reus, Gundogan etc

He also cant break down a defence when a team sits back. Bundesliga teams figured that out and sat back more. This left his team without ideas as they weren't comfortable with loads of possession and lead to sloppy mistakes which lead to opposition chances. I'm sure his tactics will work for a while before teams sit back more and he is back facing the same problems at Dortmund.

Gutted..just gutted...The lift this will give that club is immeasurable..he'll attract top players because in all honesty he is a top top manager, we can mock Liverpool to sooth the pain, but deep down the majority know that this isnt good.

I wish him the worst in his tenure the obviously, and hope its a job he regrets, but It will be gutting to watch every step. I am not particularly convinced that LVG will win us a trophy( even before the Klopp move). I could take us not doing well, but that and them doing well is just too much.

These players will be chasedby the biggest names in Europe when they become available. They won't be joining Liverpool just for Klopp.

Way to show faith. He has not even joined them and people here are crying as if Messi has signed for them.

Jesus. Some of you should be put on suicide watch. Do you have Klopp posters on your wall as well?

I don't think he will bring any of those.

Maybe Subotic. Maybe even Gotze. Gundogan, Hummels, Reus et al i can't see.

Klopp will need some top quality players that can play his style to make this work and I don't think Liverpool can afford them these days. May not be all rosey for the scousers after all. :D

Yeah, true.

Gotze royally screwed Klopp over in his move. No way he will go back to work under him again.

I can't believe this is a reality. They don't deserve a manager this good.

Long term, it's quite worrying.

Don't expect miracles this season from Klopp. He didn't even have any preparation time for the season and not his wished squad.

Its not that, Its a done deal, he's a great manager joining the club I despise more than any other. This doesnt exactly leave me jumping for joy.
But that was not your point. You pointed out that he will do better than us. That is some real lack of faith in a team which is just two points off the top.

I can't believe this is a reality.

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Klopp in a landfill
He'll be eighth in reality

Also must be remembered, Pool hired another 'top class' manager ten years ago in Benitez. Liverpool back then were in a better state then they are now, with less teams at the top to compete against and more money comparatively then they do now.

Let's get this seemingly popular myth out of the world once and for all. Reus will not be joining us just because Klopp is our manager now. He's not a youngster anymore, he's come to a point in his career where he should be challenging for trophies both domestically and in Europe, and Liverpool doesn't quite fullfil those criteria at the moment. If he leaves Dortmund next summer, it'll be for a team that does offer him that opportunity. And even if he did want to join us, he has recently signed a new contract and probably costs around €60m right now, which means we should have to fork out almost our entire summer budget to get him.

All in all, it's never going to happen. Someone like Götze is a far more likely possibility and even that is pushing it. He might be for sale though, hopefully on the cheap if he has another average/bad season at Bayern but I've got no idea how he's kicking on there tbf.

I have reread my statement again just to make sure, and no..still didnt say that..at no point did I ...all I said about Liverpool and Klopp is that he will be able to attract top players..The LVG part has nothing to do with Liverpool, and I doubt from my exact words you can show me such a link and the impression that Liverpool will do better than us. You are getting wound by something I didnt say, obviously having been wound up by what someone else said.

I do not think that especially his former players are keen on joining Liverpool but his name will attract some high quality players. He has a very good standing and seems to be an easier character than most of the other top managers.

:wenger: How can my post remind you of Liverpool fans on RAWK as the bolded part is exactly what I was saying in the post you quoted? If anything, United fans proclaiming he won't achieve anything at Liverpool are way too premature to draw such conclusions. But you can't ever say something about an incoming transfer if you look at it that way, because no one can predict the future. Fact is, fans will get excited if their club signs a top player/manager (I'll refrain from using the term 'world class' before I start another discussion that leads to nowhere) and they have every right to be excited because chances they'll succeed are higher than chances they'll fail. Just like United fans with Di Maria and Falcao for example, we're just very happy our club has been able to pull off what's probably our biggest transfer since a very long time. And no, there are no guarantees he'll do well for us, but we literally could not have signed any manager better suited for the job (bar Guardiola maybe) and you'd be insane to deny that. If that doesn't allow us to be enthousiast (without getting carried away too much, but that's just the fickle nature of football fans), I don't know what does.
Err, I was agreeing with you mate.

Can just speak for myself. For me it is plain and simple his playing style and footballing philosophy. His Dortmund side was always more fun to watch than e.g. Bayern even when they did not play that well and lost.

These players will be chased by bigger clubs than Liverpool, even if they could ward off other clubs I doubt they would smash their wage structure to match their demands.

I'd love a Champions league and Fa Cup to get us started.

Just guessing but it may have to do with Klopp's opinion that it is unacceptable to play boring football in front of many thousands fans. Granted, not all Dortmund games during his spell delivered 100% entertainment, but a good majority did. "Full throttle football" (in German: "Vollgasfußball") is what he's after, and he prefers a hard fought 5-4 to a boring 1-0. That music to the ears of many football lovers.

Kind of ironic that a German is the one who kills our schadenfreude.
