This is a no brainer. He is South Korean and will give us a huge ROI commercially too.

know that Spurs stadium is filled with 5,000 Korean fans every home game.

know that Spurs made the net profit of few millions from their preseason tour in Korea one-off.

Spurs made multi millions from sponsors from South Korea year in year out.

Considering Kim's reselling values and the abovementioned commercial expected revenues. We can offer him a top tier wage that Sancho receives.

Having Sancho wont recover the investment, having Kim will.

Absolute no brainer - to those who think we have enough CBs and this and that. Buying Kim means we are making more margin on top after breakeven - if you disagree, you dont know business.

Di Marzio is still pretty reliable for Italian news I think.

Not looking good for us. I'm not sure if we are even interested.

It only makes sense if we are selling Lindelof. Kim is a right footed centre back. We already have two of those, three if you include Maguire. A left footed centre back would make far more sense. As for putting him on Sancho level wages - completely unnecessary.

His release clause cannot be activated for another 2 weeks, unless Bayern are offering more money and a better footballing project, I can't see how anyone is in the driving seat.
Sometimes a club showing how much they value a player helps. Everyone knows that Utd are a joke when it comes to dealing with agents or in transfer market in general.

We best not lose out on this to Bayern! If they trigger his release clause and we do then I guess it’s up to the player who he chooses…

Imagine if Maguire's last gift to us is that we miss out on a player who looks like he can be Varane's successor because the club can't move him on

We are just interested. We never do more than that.
We’ve “registered” our interest with the Transfers Registry. We are now monitoring the situation and have asked to be kept informed of anything that happens in his life for the foreseeable future.

Would he be first choice at Bayern? I can see him going to whoever promises him the most game time. In that sense we're probably not the most attractive option.

We being reactionary again???

It’s a release clause people… theirs is nothing to negotiate.

If he picks Bayern over us it’s because he’d rather play there.

It’s pretty simple. We will just have to wait and see. If we don’t get him we can get Pavard and he won’t cost more than Kim.

I think the concern is that we won't be able to activate his release clause at all unless Captain Marvel agrees to move to West Ham or Everton and we reinvest the funds. It's possible that he'll choose to stay put.

The problem is that this transfer makes too much sense for us that I'd bet against it from happening.

His release clause is for two weeks. This would already of been factored in.

We aren’t going to leave a two week window on the reliability of a CB leaving.

Considering he has a release clause it'll come down to who he wants to join.

Bayern will have the guaranteed success of another domestic title to add to his accolades, but we have the best stage for him. Hopefully agent Park can also whisper sweet nothings about us into his ear too.

We will miss out. We don't have the money as we have other priorities. We will only make a move once we can ship Harry out.

Just don't see us winning the race against Bayern. Always fecking around.
Exactly why we will remain shit. This was a no brainer but we’ve conspired to cock it up.

When will we ever get our house in order and become a serious club?

I don't think that we need to have actually sold Maguire before we activate Kim's clause, but I do think that we need to have had internal discussions with 'Arry and gotten assurances from him that he would be amenable to a move before the summer window closes. Otherwise we are throwing a large percentage of our summer budget at a position that we are already strong in (relative to other positions) without it getting heavily subsidised by moving out the guy Kim would be replacing.

Going into the 23/24 season with Licha, Varane, Lindelof, Maguire, and Kim as CB options with Shaw able to cover excellently as well would be overkill to say the least, especially given our constrained budget to address real problem positions.

Maguire wanting to stay could scupper the whole thing I reckon.

Highly rated Serie A defenders who join the Premier League tend to disappoint, Koulibaly being the most recent dud that comes to mind, so I won't be bothered if he chooses Bayern.

Reckon we needed to have moved on players in that position before committing here, and we've been too slow as a result.

Can't really blame the likes of Bailly/Maguire sitting on current contracts. They'll likely never get better offers.

Spinning every transfer saga into a race never ever gets dull does it. Gullible joe public just keep lapping it up.

His release clause price is very reasonable for a player of his quality - there will inevitably be a few interested parties. Nobody can do very much until the release clause becomes active - until then, it's a matter of convincing the player, which Bayern are unfortunately probably better placed to do than United, given the relative success of the two clubs in the past 10 years. We're not out of it, but he'll be a difficult player to sign, simply because he's very good and relatively cheap.

Not sure about this criticism of United. His release clause is not active yet, is it? What more are we supposed to do at this point? If he chooses another club, it doesn't mean we fecked up.

Also, who knows where these leaks are coming from. It's in his interest to drive up a bidding war. He "leans" this and that way - according to is agent?

We won’t be able to trigger anything if the ownership situation is not materially resolved by then.

I don’t see him going to Bayern when they’d pay less in wages and bonuses than us whilst also having De Ligt, Hernandez, Upamecano, Pavard and Blind already on the books.

Even if Bayern manage to move a couple on that’s still three other centre backs for Kim to compete with whereas he’d be at worst first choice back up and possibly first choice along with Martinez by the end of the season depending on Varane fitness wise.

It could just be a brief from Napoli to potentially negotiate with them now instead of the release clause in July so Napoli get more money or Kim’s agent so we pay higher wages, don’t usually hear of Bayern being after players either as they just swoop in stealth mode and sign players which is probably their way of avoiding bidding wars.

What if we offer above the release clause before 1st July?
It's probably not in Kim's interest to agree a deal with anyone before the release clause kicks in because he gets to negotiate with multiple suitors when that happens. Even if he is adamant that he wants to come here and we move for him before July, he is better off waiting because he will have more leverage in contract negotiations with us if he can speak to other teams.

suggests there may be some truth to the Hernandez to PSG stories, thought he was long term injured

TBH I do not see the point in waiting for the release clause to trigger, just make the offer now, it is not like Napoli are not aware of it! they may well accept it regardless if it gives them more time to use the money to fund their own window.... they know they will have to accept it in X days time anyway, if they do not accept it then we offer again once the release clause has triggered, I do not see what we have to lose

 Exactly, alot of people on here just lap that shite up and end up having a meltdown. No one knows what the feck is going on until it is actually offical. The amount of times I've read' we are still leading the race' is unreal. Just chancers on Twitter doing their thing for clicks. Maybe the posting rules on accounts on the Twitter threads should be introduced to all threads.

If Bayern are interested, he'll go there, quite simply because they know how to negotiate and sort out transfers. Lets see how it plays out.

not sure judging a player who went to chelsea is a solid barometer.... esp a 31yr old. no one that moves there looks good anymore.

i know thiago silva came directly from paris, but he was at his best at Milan. can't think of too many "top" defenders that made the move either tbf.
