Kim Min-jae | signed for Bayern

Kim Min-Jae is the one player we must get this summer.

I wouldn't go that far, I mean we have more need in other positions but he would be a good signing and would expand our options during play greatly. I think Costa and a top striker would be more essential though.

How is that a breaking news story? It's legit a nothing story really

Interesting! You’d have him over a CF or GK?

Not that we need a CB the most. But he is the one player I think we simply cannot afford to miss.

I think he is a world class CB who is very strong, fast, and very good in defending, passing and progressive carries. And usually we don't get to sign such caliber of player who is good at almost everything, let alone for just a price of 40m.

He will be the perfect player in ETH system.

From the logic of best price for mix of age/quality/suitability to manager, yeah.

From logic of team need... Definitely not. CF is a requirement, though there isn't an obvious target relative to a fair price. CM, same thing when you take into account the full package. Mount is a good fit and if he's below 50m, it'd be a fair price. But he's not a perfect fit, but a decent fit all the same. Goalkeeper Diogo Costa has a lot to prove, but has high potential, but is 65m. So again, not a "no brainer".

People were complaining that none of the usual UK sources had reported on this earlier this week, just Italian sources. Most of them have as well now

Yep felt all along like one of those where United's name was just being used. United have bigger priorities

But it was probably just obvious to me because i'm an old virgin who never leaves bed and studies transfers all year

Being used for what exactly? There is no benefit to anyone by having him linked to us.

Definitely agree with this, but I would argue the same of Costa too, other than the bargain price I guess.

Like all our other targets we'll have to hope he’s still available once the ownership situation is clarified.

Between Newcastle going for him and this, I hate to say it but like... Come on obviously it was just our name being used, is this everybody's first transfer window?

If a clause exists in his contract, and it has been widely reported a clause does exist, why would our name 'be used'? Napoli won't be driving his price up as a consequence of United's interest, and Kim's played an important part in them winning their first Serie A title in 30 years - his team leaking a story to the press about Man Utd being interested is hardly going to be the driving force behind Napoli offering him a new contract.

People seriously lose their minds during the transfer window. It's hyperbolic nonsense.

We won't sign him until Maguire leaves is my guess and his release clause has a deadline. Don't see it happening.

Either to get other clubs to jump in before they miss out or his own agent doing things with Napoli to get them to up his deal. It happens every summer. We'll see, I don't buy it but wouldn't be upset if we get him, he's quality, I just don't think he's a need for this summer given our other issues and having Varane/Lindelof for RCB, and don't think we will sign players outside of the urgent need positions (because we have 3 starters in that category and 1 depth).

Come on, man. There's several eventualities why we might not end up signing him but this isn't one of them.

This season with Napoli would've got Kim all the credit in the bank he needed to secure a new contract, especially if it's easy for other clubs to take him away. Kim's release clause is well publicised, the teams who are interested aren't going to be swayed by our potential interest. There's not some wild conspiracy at play here.

It's not a conspiracy, but every summer United's name gets linked with over 100 players. Literally well over 100. We end up signing 5 or fewer. Sure, there are hundreds of names on the lists at United who we ask for information on. Very few of them do we actually make offers for, and obviously even fewer do we sign them. I'm just giving my opinion on what I think this rumor is compared to some other more legit ones.

The Mount one makes sense from the perspective of he is in a position of need (the way ten hag will use him), he is at a good age so makes sense to balance our other mids, he has 1 year left on his deal so should be able to get him in more reasonably and he wants to come. Kane interest is obviously real for obvious reasons, but then I also think we have a miniscule chance of actually getting him, but no doubt we'll at least make an offer. Kim Min Jae, not doubting that we like him as a potential option. Don't think he'll make his way up the priority list for us to even offer for him though, given we have no idea where the ownership is at, have 4 other priorities, and would in all likelihood function just fine without doing anything in that position next season.

Oh and to add - Italian transfer rumors are arguably a tier below Portuguese ones in reliability...

I'd assume he'll be our best signing pound for pound this summer if we make it happen (we better). Elite CB with the perfect profile to deputize and eventually overtake Rafa at a bargain price. Getting top players for great value > chasing overpriced players at positions of "need"

Really Disagree with the last sentence. Addressing positions of need even if you overspend is how you improve ultimately. Kim min Jae vs Varane at RCB won't be a big difference, because we already have a world class player there. Addressing position of need means getting someone better than weghorst to be our center forward.... It's gonna have a much bigger impact.

He's been dreamimg of the EPL for years. I am pretty sure if there is serious interest, he will love to join United.

€47m is roughly £40m at today's exchange rate.

That's a insanely good deal. Napoli wouldn't be considering anything less than €100m otherwise

Next week Kaveh will announce that there is interest from United in Kim min Jae

I have it. On. Good. Authority. That. Manchester United. Are. Interested. In the player.

The guy really is difficult to listen to

How come Liverpool and Arsenal aren't interested
Several PL clubs are interested in Kim according to Mike McGrath, but United's name is the only one that's been mentioned thanks to Il Mattino and them constantly using United's name in their reports.

Surely Harry or Victor will have to be sold before we bring another CB in.

Harry is done here. We played our LB at CB because we didnt trust him enough to do the job. We need someone like Kim and Shaw needs to play at LB even when he did great as CB.

 So the french journalist thinks the english club is leading the race, and the english journalist thinks the french club is leading the race! I don't think either knows anything.
Sport journalist must be one of the easiest jobs in the world. You can make up shit as you like and you never really be hold accountable. Any random poster on here could write an article like that. And if you are wrong there are plenty of easy excuses you can come up with.
