Hopefully for the sake of all the fans and media crying and raving about Liverpool’s deal for Mac Allister, we get this done.

This would be a bigger coup, hands down.

I have very little confidence that we will do a deal for Kim, given the way this club is run.

We did manage to do better business last summer albeit paying United tax in most cases but this transfer just makes too much sense. World class CB, decent price in today's market and would no doubt improve us.

Yet I can't help think we'll fumble around trying to shift Maguire for £30million, miss out on Kim and end up selling Maguire in the final week of the window for about £10million and his replacement will be rushed through, overpriced and ultimately not good enough.

We always see clubs do great deals for top players, see Liverpool and Mcallister for one, this is our chance to have a bit of that action, I hope history doesn't repeat itself.
McAllister wasn't done overnight either - background work started during WC already if not earlier.

But I agree, we are notoriously slow.

We need a good 1 on 1 CB. Martinez is great at anticipating danger but I'm not convinced by his 1 v 1s especially when the opponent has a free run at him.
Kim also frees up the RB position for a more attacking minded player. Varane we all know is injury prone, so I'd welcome this signing especially since we need to see the back of Harry Maguire.

Whitwell seems to think this is fully dependent on what happens with Maguire

Nah. Talksport are fairly reliable these days when it comes to news they publish on their official Twitter. It’s been that way for a couple of years now.

Yeah this could be another slipping away,no wonder Erik is getting frustrated and will cause some friction with those leeches

Well the pissing around we are currently doing that's very likely to happen unfortunately

Based on what? 1 Newcastle link we've known about for months. We have 3 plus weeks. On previous page Laurie said this is probably down to us finding a buyer for Maguire first. This is has always been the case, you can't have all Varane, Martinez, Maguire, Lindelof and Bailly in the squad. If you add KMJ to that and you can't move the others rest of our spending suffers.

Well need to be sensible on Maguire price, not put out some dumb ass OTT valuation

The rumour is KMJ is desperate to join Utd as he and his family are Utd fans. But as we know money talks in this game. If Newcastle did offer more money than the release clause right now, KMJ could still refuse to accept it and wait till the 1st. Newcastle would then have to offer silly wages to push it through. I can’t imagine they’d be offering much more than we would offer contract wise.

Yeah there is that as well

After a couple of lets say not great seasons, he also just turned 30, which is fine get a good few years out of him but not the 10 we thought we'd get. I think your looking at 15 to 20mil which will seem low to people considering the market.

Not their sources that's usually quite good and explains links appearing to this Disasi

Regardless, Newcastle have been linked with him for months as well. The links for Disai also surfaced ages ago originally, so they're nothing new either.

I don't know why you're getting so upset, the report hasn't said he's about to sign for Newcastle or anything like that. It just says they want to sign him too, which isn't breaking news at all.

They'll have to wait until July to sign him, just like everyone else.

ffs...it's a release clause so anyone can be willing to activate it and most will want to consider it is low and this guy was the serie A defender of the year. Lucky for him though as he will have plenty of options to choose his next destination

Between Newcastle going for him and this, I hate to say it but like... Come on obviously it was just our name being used, is this everybody's first transfer window?

Yep felt all along like one of those where United's name was just being used. United have bigger priorities

But it was probably just obvious to me because i'm an old virgin who never leaves bed and studies transfers all year

United do have bigger priorities at Striker...however it's a massive priority it seems like to EtH b/c he can't implement his style of football if they don't have CB's who are worth a fuk on the ball

Is this what it’s gonna be like everytime we get linked with a player who *may* go elsewhere? Oh “our name was being used to drum up interest”

Come on guys what is it? Our name being used or our negotiation team are shite?

It was reported earlier this month that we'd even be willing to buy him out for 10M if we can't find a suitable buyer

I think that referred to a loyalty bonus we'd have to pay him if we sell him before his contract runs out. Nothing to do with a potential fee if we decide to sell him.

I'm sure they want him to renew, so at the very least they can sell him for what he's actually worth to them.

Doesn't mean he'll actually sign it though.

Jesus you guys are stupid at times.
  • We cannot buy him until his realise clause is activated in July.
  • If another club wants to offer and negotiate a higher price before then good on them
  • If he signs a new contract then we will have to negotiate with Napoli or move on to other targets like maybe Pavard.
Hardly worth crying about, which ever way it happens it wouldn’t be the clubs fault like some are making it out.
