Well now this is dead and even if De Gea goes next summer I think we can rule him out as he never wanted to come here according to most reports as we had to negotiate with him to even convince him which was part of the hold up.
his father doesn't seem to be impressed.
fecking hell, scrolling through this thread and seeing that picture without reading the text, my first thought was that last night really affected the poor guy.

He could always ask his agent. I'd say he'd be privy to the finer details of what happened. It's not a question of what I believe about this transfer farce. It's a question as to what de Gea will believe, whether it's this or some other United-blaming explanation ... such as the one put forward in the last few minutes in RM's official statement.
And de Gea is far more likely to believe what RM say as compared to what United say, for very obvious reasons: he's the one who wanted to go and United are the ones who didn't want him to go.
Considering his father calls Navas "quiet and humble" we've probably dodged a bullet ... quiet and humble isn't exactly what you need on a windy, rain-soaked Saturday afternoon at Stoke.
Someone post the tweet by Jamie Jackson about him being angry at Real and wanting to come to us yesterday. I'm on my phone .
Much has been made of the survey of Madrid fans who preferred Navas over DDG. It'll be interesting to see their reaction if Keylor goes through a bad spell.
He's probably not very happy, is he?
Very understandable. I wouldn't be happy at Real if I were him.
What the hell did he expect when he joined Real? I don't really feel sorry for any player who gets caught up in their drama. That's what you get for joining them - Did he not see how they treated Casillas? If that's how they treat a Spanish international and club legend and captain, how can he be surprised that they throw some nobody from Costa Rica under the bus at first opportunity?
Would be awesome if they have to offer up Navas an improved contract now.. Maybe the salary offered by us has turned his head!!

Perez showed up at a Real training session to apologise to Navas for the debacle and supposedly talked with him for two hours.
That's a very kind gesture and not something I'd have expected off Perez.

Doesnt really make up for how they treated him in the first place..Intentionally at that tooThat's a very kind gesture and not something I'd have expected off Perez.
Does anyone think we'll go back in for him next summer or are our bridges with Real Madrid burnt?

I wonder if the words "We are still flogging you next summer" were part of the apology.
I agree. Every player who joins that POS club should know what they're walking into
We offered him twice what he's making now. They don't even take care of their players. De Gea won't even get half what we offered him.
In an ideal world, de Gea would sign a fecking contract and stay here, while Navas stays there. Who knows, maybe he has a world class season and they see no reason to offer 40m for De Gea (if he signs the contract).

They want a Spanish goalie and DDG is the best around. If Navas was even Spanish born he'd be their undisputed number one
Looney van Gaal hasn't trusted to him to play so far, and the player would be furious if this deal hasn't gone through ... so the basis of trust would be even less than before. And the idea that de Gea would sign a new contract with a club that, in his eyes, had shafted him so royally, is ludicrous.
