Kevin De Bruyne

We bought one Europe best attackers last year and see where it got us.
Di Maria took us as a step down...Madrid to United. I think it will be different for De Bruyne as City are a genuine title challenger compared to Wolfsburg with Bayern around. I have no idea why we didn't try to sign him.

And as much as I think the hype is getting ridiculous there's no doubt whatsoever that Memphis was one of Europe's best last season.

You cannot blame the glazers after the money we have spent the last two years.
Well who do I blame for our shitty transfer business this summer? We need an elite attacker but there's zero inclination that we will go after one.

There's a big difference in performing in the Dutch league compared to the bundesliga

I still think their MF can be dominated and their defence exposed. KDB also won't do the leg work that Navas does and that's more cause for concern.

Their attack is frightening, but they have to worry about going the other way to.

I think they'll have to play differently. Toure deeper, Zabaleta pushed up a bit and whichever of De Bruyne or Silva is nominally on the right basically in a free role.

Kind of like us now with Sterling as their Memphis/Ronaldo pushed up like a striker out wide. Madrid did this last year. An asymmetrical 4-4-2.

We're obviously not going to try and sign every good player who City are after, especially if LvG is satisfied with the current group we have.

Yeah. I think the result will be CL failure and PL glory. When they get counter-ed to death in the Prem, it will be surrounded by 2 or 3 wins by multiple goals, and that's fine. In the CL, against organized talented teams, it will be too much.

Look at the passes that Carrick and Schweinsteiger made to start counters in the last 30 minutes against Brugge today. When Citeh are camped out on the other team's box in the CL and the ball is lost, the counters will be devastating. Even forgetting the Bayern/Barca/Real trio, the 2nd tier CL contenders with players like Thiago Motta, Marchisio, Tiago, Matic, Schweinsteiger will be able to ignite counters and then 2 of the 6 deepest players are Kolarov and Yaya and that's trouble, even if everyone is healthy.

I know...but considering the lack of creativity we have up front you would think we would go after the likes of De Bruyne

If you think the current squad is going to compete for the title..well we have a huge difference in opinion

The current squad are capable of competing for the title. Its all about getting the players you have to play as a team rather than randomly throwing money at new players.

That's a nice thought but I'm sure we can both agree that City's attack is considerably better than ours. And that is where the title lies.

Look at the price they paid for de Bruyne. I just do not think that it is policy from United or especially van Gaal to push so much money on an unproven player. And that is what he is.

On paper yes, but they still have to prove it. There are no guarantees as to how they will perform and they are always a Sergio Aguero injury away from getting derailed.

Was De Bruyne the creator of Wolfsbergs attacks this season?

United have spent 60m on Di Maria so yes the policy is to spend big on players who will improve us. £55m isn't even that much for us tbh. Our attack is far behind Europe's elite and we need some quality like De Bruyne

And we are a Rooney injury from being derailed? I would take Bony over Hernandez

Di Maria didn't improve us much though did he, which sort of calls into question this idea of randomly throwing big money at feel good transfers. You can't guarantee whether or not a player will work out.

Compare the system of Wolfsburg to yours. De Bruyne is very similar to Mata - maybe slightly faster. Put Mata in de Bruyne's position at Wolfsburg and he will deliver as good

De Bruyne is the major reason that Wolfsburg got second place. He is apparently the focal point of all their attacks and a marvellous player. He creates goals and scores them himself it seems. He's only turned 24 and he will only get better. Our attack is so stale which is why I find it a bit strange that we aren't after him

I was hoping we would have a look as well but we are already dealing with a glut of current players who can play a 10 including the likes of Rooney, Mata, Fellaini, Memphis, Herrera etc. I wouldn't mind have a look at Griezmann if he's available.

What's your definition of unproven  He's 24 now with 33 national caps and a total of 223 competitive fixtures under his belt. He's just won the Bundesliga POTY. Ok, he isn't proven in England and it's certainly possible he flops, however I cannot see how he can be labelled an unproven player by any stretch of the imagination.

I think he will be very good in England. He seems to have a high football IQ.

You work in a different system. You have to take that into account, too.

Podolski in his last season at Cologne scored 18 goals and made 9 assists in 27 matches... No - he was not a better player than he has been at Munich or Arsenal... But he was the big fish in the small pond...

Yeah I was hoping that we would go after Griezmann and Zlatan. It seems we arent going after anyone though :(

City the dominant power in Manchester, what a time to be alive -_-

But considering how United can't create any chances surely you agree that De Bruyne is better than Januzaj or Mata in the formation we play. Our attack is a joke.

How do you know ? We've only played a handful of games so far. For all we know, the goals could start flowing and this obsession with buying more players will go away.

I hope so, I haven't been this excited about a signing since Aguero. He looks perfect for City's current system and I can't wait to see how he links up with Silva.

Ehm I'm just assuming.

Aguero > Rooney
Sterling > Depay
De Bruyne > Januzaj
Silva > Mata
Toure > Herrera

Well that's my opinion

I highly doubt that. De Bruyne had a freak season which wouldn't be duplicated by a lot of players, certainly not by Mata if his form last season was anything to go by.

Nobody says that De Bruyne is not a really good player. But Mata is similar to him. And the price is 80m...

I talked about value.

Nobody told that he would not be able to improve your attack. But - would he be able to improve it in such way that it would be valid the price tag?

Take Mata's form of 12/13...
Competiton - goals - assists ---- last number minutes

Money isn't really a problem for City or United....we have plenty of money. It's all about improving the squad and De Bruyne > Mata. Value is a shitty fecking metric for the Glazer days. I don't want to hear about Value ever again...fecking signing Young and Bebe and not Hazard (Value)
