Kevin De Bruyne

He's a 10/ right winger. Would fix everything.. Boy Wonda (Rooney) will get balls placed to his head whilst he would add pace Mata does not have.

I just can't see him being signed to play on the wing. Would hardly be disappointed if we signed him but passing on a world class winger like Pedro for 22m doesn't make sense if we spend 50m on De Bruyne.

Hmm, I'm trying to imagine how many people on here would have been putting Pedro in a "best in the workd XI" a few months ago. Feck all I imagine...

Agent or club just talking up other interest (us and Bayern) to hurry the deal to City along

Well considering hes played about 300 times for one of the best club sides of all time over the past six years, contributing fairly significantly, hes got to be close to World Class.

But yet every year for the past 3 years they have been signing players to replace him....

He is not world class. A very good player been utilised by a very good team.

Of course, Griezmann. Though Griezmann may not be open to leaving Atletico, he did just sign a new contract.

If we sign KDB, surely we're going to play him as a #10, his favourable position. Him and Mata could interchange, it would be wonderful.

de bruyne or griezmann?
Griezmann 100%. We need more of a player who will make the runs in behind and who will score goals. De Bruyne is a great creator, but he's not really a goalscorer who makes the runs in behind which is what we need to stretch teams and make our attack work IMO. Though De Bruyne would be a huge improvement anyway. We just need more of a pacey wide forward type and not another creator. There's no point in having attacking mids and creative players if you have nobody to make the runs, and all we have is Memphis for those runs.

Because we really need another attacking midfielder.
Considering Januzaj, as promising as he is, is part of our strongest 11 either in the hole or on the right if you want to put Mata there... Then yeah, we need another one.

Why we not playing Valdes going by that reasoning....

Would love this to be true....sadly, it has all the hallmarks of the agent using Utd to get more £££
We are be of the biggest football power houses and time and time again we're getting used by others. We should quash rumours asap

I dont think that is unrealistic that we would be interested. Everyone dismissed Schweinsteiger too, and when Sport1 report it, i would be surprised if we werent interested at all. Bild broke the Schweini news, but Sport1 were spot on throughout the move also. I would be happy if we could bring him in, at this point we arent interested in Griezmann and the Neymar talk is a bit silly. KDB would be great, even though not a proper winger like Mane, but his quality is undeniable.

De Bruyne is fantastic and deservedly won the Bundesliga POTY last season, but he's quite dependent on being the main man and I'm not sure if he'll get that here, or at City for that matter. The fees touted about definitely makes him a risk.

Valdes played over 300 times for one of the best club sides of all time over the past six years, contributing fairly significantly. Is he a WC keeper?

He was certainly up there at the time. Hes not played much for over a year after a horrendous injury so now he's not. Plus he seems to have attitude issues.

I didn't actually say Pedro was world class if you read my post. I said he's close to being world class though. I'm hardly wrong. Just because Neymar is better it doesn't make him crap, or even average.

It's not black and white. Either a player is WC or he's crap or average.. He's a very good winger but not a WC one, that's all.

The fact he was the main man, why is that necessarily bad? You can't just discredit 10 goals and 20 assists(!) in 34 games like that. He also had great performances against the German topclubs including some great goals against Bayern. I feel he's very good and would seriously take City's offensive play to a higher level.

I'm pretty sure we're agreeing here as yet again i didn't say he was world class, so no idea what your point is to be honest.

I think you've tried to be clever and its all gone wrong. Shame...

I do not know if it is right. But it tells that there was an agreement between City and Wolfsburg and that de Bruyne is travelling to Manchester tomorrow.

Missed close in close to WC earlier and in the 2nd post I just meant that if he isn't better than Neymar he's not crap cause of that so we basically agreed on that.

What I don't get though is why we are letting this go without a fight? If he's good enough for city to pay all that money then he's good enough for us? They won't be paying the kind of figures quoted for a squad player. So why aren't we moving in?

PSG paid 50m for Luiz, we should have fought them for him too then?

Maybe we don't believe he is worth 50m or whatever price he is going for.

I've not really seen him that much but this place seemed to rate him very highly, are people just downplaying him now it looks like he's going to City?

Letting our opponents strengthen as per Pedro and then complaining there's no one available doesn't sound the best strategy

OK... But every man and their dog could see that PSG were being ridiculous. That's not so much the case with City here.

Also, in this day and age we've got to accept that players will be over priced. But at the end of the day if they make a real difference then who cares.

Stephane Pauwels is appearantly a well informed journalist when it comes to the Benelux football, so this information is probably legit.

Replacement is appearantly Dennis Praet from Anderlecht. Now, Praet is an exciting talent, whom we were also linked with before. I rate him a lot, but I highly doubt that he is ready to even beginn to fill the void De Bruyne left behind. On top of that they also might lose Ivan Perisic, who is their biggest goal threat from the flanks, to Inter.

Unless they use the money to really strengthen all over the pitch in the next days, I see them having a lot of trouble to get in the top 4 again let alone pose any kind of danger to Bayern Munich. Harsh how fast they might fall apart again.

After Sterling, Firmino etc. we do not even have to talk about his price. That just seems to be normal now for top players.

But - there can be doubts that he is the right player for United. He is not an easy player in the dressing room. He needs special handling. And whereas he has star status in Wolfsburg - he would not have it at United. If he behaved like he sometimes did at Wolfsburg in Munich - he would sit permanently in the stands with Guardiola...

And I do not think LvG is different. And do not underestimate LvG's knowledge about the player - not just on the pitch. His longtime assistant (at Bayern and in Barcelona) was assistant coach in Wolfsburg last season...
