I'd rather buy Cillissen than Kepa to be honest. Kepa is all about potential and what if he flops like Karius? 80M wasted. Just buy an experienced keeper for now and spend the big money later.

Not sure. They have already signed players this summer, so this will have blindsided them a bit.
Courtois has properly dicked over Chelsea to be fair. Quick recap:
- After the Nou Camp fiasco he said he's close to signing a new contract
- Delay delay delay end of the season and he still hasn't signed the new contract, a lot of noise in the media about Chelsea looking to sell him, he plays the stupid victim card saying he has no idea why the club would look to move on from him despite his antics and open pining for Madrid
- Excellent World Cup, in an interview he said even if he doesn't sign a new contract Chelsea wont bench him because he thinks he's too good & that he'd be willing to play out the last year of his deal
- Understandably Chelsea got complacent about getting a new GK, knowing there's an option to just let Courtois run down his contract. Liverpool sign Alisson without serious competition from Chelsea.
- Now he's pulled this crap & gone AWOL, leaving the club in a horrendous negotiating position for a new goalkeeper with less than 3 days left in the window
We definitely don't have a "shambles of a defense." Our defense was not really any worse than those around us last season. With Sarri playing a much more possession oriented style we won't face as many shots on target either.
Makes you wonder what De Gea would go for in today's market. Over 100 million Euro's surely?

He's got the potential but unclear whether he'll achieve it. Probably was about the 3rd best keeper in Spain last year after Oblak & Ter Stegen (given Navas' patchy league form & Asenjo not having a brilliant season).
For what it's worth, Sarri has apparently focused on the GK situation of late, identifying a number of candidates and supposedly calling Kepa "the perfect modern goalkeeper" and his first choice replacement (from Pedulla so take with a feck tonne of salt):

If you can get both, you go for it which is Real Madrid option. Yes. It's an excuse to the public but doesn't make it wrong. Football is a lesser scaled political play. You don't let him leave then in the future you would have trouble signing players as they would consider Chelsea unreasonable when they need to gear toward something else in their personal life. There may be still sincere players (I hope)

Along the same vein - Courtois is a bit of a skeezeball and this is actually the reason why he and KdB don't like each other. Courtois slept with KdB's girlfriend whilst both were at Chelsea and as a result KdB dumped her.
Cillisen is crap.
But buying an experienced keeper as a stop gap wouldn't be such a bad idea.
Even our Romero is a decent option .

To be honest, you can be an excellent and caring father and a womanizing scoundrel at the same time.
Back to Kepa though, he's a very good keeper. I don't know if he's 80k good, but after he's had a season to adapt to English football, he'll be the business for you. You have a keeper for a decade there.
They are sustaining it well enough so far.

Oblak is in the perfect situation at the perfect club right now. No reason for him to want to leave. Quite simple, really. I'm sure we inquired about him but were probably quickly told he's not interested.
