Music Kendrick Lamar

Definitely gonna take some listens. Cant really get the full picture first time round. Wonder what GNX stands for?

It's clearly the Pakistani railway station.

No but he put a Buick GNX in the promo video on youtube. Guessing it's a car he had or whatever.

Ah fair. I don’t know cars.

It's also noticeably photograped from the same side and a similar angle as the Good Kid Maad City alt cover.
(the deluxe edition). Pretty sure it's a care that matters to him, likely through ownership, and other than SZA, I think all featured artists are west coast artists.
AzChike, Deyra Barrera, Dody 6, Wallie the Sensei ,Hitta J, Siete and Young Threat
---

Also, he never puts the The Heart songs on albums. I've been through this 4 times already, and it would be his weakest album yet imo.
tv off, peekaboo and gnx are all week in my opinion. Some of the other songs are excellent. I can't find a clear single, and with Super Bowl coming up, that's the best ever promo opportunity, and there's no video yet. I think there's another album coming.

Hilariously different from what I was listening to directly before putting this on, but I'm liking it so far. Will take a few listens

Got the message just over an hour ago from a mate to let me know that there was a new Kendrick album. We've been messaging all even, giving our verdict track by track.

Reincarnated and Heart Pt. 6 are my two favourites, but that may change. I'm on my second listen.

Gnx, peekaboo and hey now I could do without. But hey now is probably the one I need to relisten to.

I really like dodger blue

Gave it a couple of rounds at the gym and i love the whole album. Not one song i dont like.
Dodger Blue is my favorite i think, could almost hear Nate Dogg on it.
Love the west coast feel on the whole album, 2024 is the wests year.

Great album - some really incredible highs.

Only song I'll likely not revisit is "Peekaboo"

called Black Hippy a failure but him and Ab Soul have dropped two of the best albums of the year

Did he actually? That’s fecking huge. That mixtape is elite.

Yep, The Come Up was cleared last week for DSP's. The Warm Up yesterday and it seems Friday Night Lights next week to coincide with the podcasts Cole is releasing.

Seems like this was a big ambition of his for the rollout of The Fall Off. Friday Night Lights will break spotify.

It just made me really miss Nate Dogg. Hooks ain't been the same

If I ever spend time in the clink, I want wacced out murals to be my theme music as I plan to shank my enemies on the inside, before I eventually end up on death row.

Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg have both commented on the lines about them on wacced out murals

Kendrick's line on Lil Wayne:
"Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud
Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down
Whatever, though, call me crazy, everybody questionable
Turn me to an eskimo, I drew the line and decimals"

Lil Wayne comment:

-------
Lines on Snoop Dogg:
"Snoop posted "Taylor Made," I prayed it was the edibles
I couldn't believe it, it was only right for me to let it go"

Snoop's comment

'it was the edibles'

I feel fairly sure there's another album coming.

* Super Bowl promo period too good to pass up
* Said previously there's no clear single, and no MV, now there's a MV, but that MV @horsechoker just posted is one of the worst MVs I've seen.
* Song in the GNX video isn't on the GNX album
* Heart songs are never on the albums, they're on mixtape or released separately before the albums
* GNX have 5 songs that are quite similar to Not Like Us, and likely were among the song he had ready for drake with new lyrics
* Personal opinion, but GNX would be his weakest album yet. Lots of bops in there, but also his first non-concept album

*DJ Hed (inner-circle) replying the side (side-yes) emoji about something happening in Inglewood, CA days before the drop, then side-eyes for the pre-release video, and side-eye in reply to someone speculating it wasn't the only album dropping.
* Deats who produced Gloria posted the Kobe video from game 2 saying the 'job's not finished.' on his story
* Hitta J3, featured on 'GNX', posted 'It's not over yet, get ready for curfew'

I think this is the drake extra songs, and the cutaways from the actual album, and that there's another one coming in January or sometime shortly before the super bowl, with a single to promote. Super Bowl performance is the most lucrative chance to do a promo run for a wider audience. Maybe I'm just crazy, but GNX feels like untitled unmastered to me more than an album. There are some serious bops on it, but as an album, it would be his weakest yet, by a long shot. Maybe I'm delulu, quote me after the super bowl or something.

On my third full listen, definitely growing on me but for sure it won't be close to his best stuff. Stuff like wacced out murals and man at the garden whilst good won't be in my regular rotation.

tv off is so good, squabble up grew on me like mad and dodger blue as well. Peekaboo too. It sonically sounds like that would've been on the Black Panther album.

This has slid into third spot for me after TPAB and GKMC.

I can just play it whilst I'm in the gym or driving etc and bop along to it, something I struggle to do with most of his albums.
