Music Kendrick Lamar

I'd think the tickets for Copenhagen would be gone in < 10 minutes once the sale opens this friday. At least I hope there are no exclusive preorders for AmEx customers like back in the US.

They’ll go very quickly everywhere, presale is probably the best bet - but I’m struggling on that front. If anyone gets a code and it’s not unique per customer, then I’d appreciate a share!

Is there a way to keep track of these things other than scrawl across forums and reddit every other minute?

Kendrick Lamar and James Blake on tour together?!

Shame I probably can't go :(

Having been to Kendrick's concert myself I can vouch for it, he's a great entertainer and the concert is pure energy. Shame he isn't re-visiting Poland on that tour as I'm currently tight on budget so cannot really make a trip anywhere, would love to go again.

Yeah, definitely being sold on o2 priority on Wednesday 9am.
Anyone know how many you can typically get at once?

I had no luck on o2. It wouldn't accept any of my cards. It's a pretty spendy gig too, about £65 for the worst seating tickets. I'm going to try again when they go on general sale.

Ha, thank god I saw him back in 2012 when tickets were less than £30 because I sure as shit won't be paying the prices they're demanding.

Anything above £40 is stupid when your demographic is students, so above £50 is obscene.

The people who'll go will have a great night because he's fantastic live and to them it'll be worth what they pay, but their love for him is being exploited by these prices.

Yeah 80 for a standing tickets is a bit ott, but I'm a huge James Blake fan so I'm telling myself it's 40 to see each of them.

Saw James Blake back in 2013 as well so I just couldn't justify that kinda money. feck them both for charging that much, to be honest.

Feck. Should have taken a look in that thread more often. Missed the whole ticket thing. And feck Berlin, Frankfurt and Köln. Why no Munich?

Got me and my brother a ticket each for when he's in Manchester for £70 a ticket. Cannot wait, absolutely buzzing! It's going to be only the 2nd gig I've been to (if I don't go to any before this) and the 1st one was The Game (I thought he was great, got the crowd pumped too).

Tickets to Copenhagen show are still available in case you can't get any in the UK or Germany. You can make a nice weekend out of it.

Got some shitty seats for this in Copenhagen. You won't get the chance to see him often, so it's worth it.

Just bought two shitty seats for Berlin. My girlfriend wanted to visit the city anyway since she's never been there so two birds with one stone.

I just couldn't justify the cost. Hopefully I can pick one up nearer the time when my finances are better.

A guy at work just proclaimed Kendrick Lamar to be the best ever. I said he'd struggle to make Top 10.

Maybe i had a rush of blood to the head, but where do you pitch him against the all time greats, and who are clearly better?

2Pac / Biggie / Nas / Snoop / Dre / Ice Cube / Eminem / Jay-Z / Ghostface Killah / Rakim - all better than Kendrick Lamar? Any others....

I'd have to listen to your colleague rap for me to proclaim him as the best ever.

He's got 4/5 good to GOAT-tier albums though, most of those don't.

He absolutely spins this track. He's got so many different styles of spitting. Definitely one of the best ever.

EDIT: It's a bit arbitrary anyway though, trying to reduce it to just ten. Andre 3000, Kanye West, Method Man, Q-tip. Too many get unfairly left out that it becomes self-defeating.

I'm not particularly well versed with Ice Cube, Snoop or Ghostface so I won't comment there. As for the rest...

2Pac - Kendrick is a better rapper from a technical standpoint, but so is everyone else. For me it's Pac's ability to communicate emotion through rap that sets him head and shoulders above everyone else for me. That continues to be the case.

Biggie - Controversial, but I'll give this one to Kendrick. Biggie is always the guy I knock from the traditional top 5 (Pac, Big, Nas, Em, Hov) in favour of an Andre 3K or Rakim. Body of work is a big one for me here, Kendrick has had such a solid streak of incredible albums to me that Biggie, for reasons beyond his control obviously, can't touch.

Nas - I have a soft spot because stylistically he's my favourite of all time. Nas > Kdot

Dre - Amazing producer but as a rapper I don't think he's in this conversation despite two classic albums.

Eminem - Despite his significant decline, his peak still above Kendrick for me. But the longer one continues to put out subpar albums while the other puts out classic after classic, the greater the chance this changes. Em is crazy though, that's a tough one for me.

Jay-Z - Kendrick well above, Hov is the other guy I'll bounce from a top 5 for the aforementioned two. He's got a handful of great albums and Reasonable Doubt is incredibly underrated, but the overall strength of Kendrick's 4 studio albums wins out

Rakim - Tough one again since Rakim was a) incredible, b) basically laid the path for every good rapper after him. I'm gonna cop out and call it a draw

The only Eminem album I go back to is the Slim Shady LP. Had some good songs with D-12.

He's a better rapper than 2Pac, Snoop, Dre, Ghostface & Cube. Not even sure how you can have Ghostface as top 10 personally, I don't think he'd make my top 25.

Has a better discography than most of them too, bar Nas & Jay-Z (beats Biggie purely because he was taken so early into his career)

I'm not an Eminem fan but I can respect his influence and talent, though I wouldn't put him in my personal Top 10 - I think it's obvious that he's definitely one of the best rappers of all time.

So while your guy at work may have been steadfast in calling him the best ever, it's perfectly reasonable to say he's top 10.

A guy at work was correct.

EDIT: Oh, best ever? He was wrong. Top 10 is fine.

Not the best ever. Wouldn’t be in my top ten but top 20? Yeah why not. But even then there’s a lot of rappers that can be placed in the top 20.

Yeah approximately 19 others.
