Keir Starmer Labour Leader

No, you're not. I actually like safety nets in society. I like the idea of knowing I could get a doctor's appointment if and when I need one.
Exactly. Even schools. People brought into the we are doing austerity for the sake of the children. The best thing we can do for our children is give them a decent education, and have decent health service for when they are sick.

Great end to the week for Starmer as the ICJ specifically cites the very thing he said Israel had the right to do.
My guess is he's not yet read the ruling. Too busy plotting to rid the basement dwelling redditors of their Katanas and nunchucks.

I don't get this. Is he saying nobody's allowed to have an opinion on anything except the health service? Or if it's actuallly a comment on ninja swords that would be fair enough but why link it to the health service? I'm not tempted to follow macarthur-boyd I must admit.

It's just a joke mate.

Transphobic NHS spending my is very on brand for Starmer Labour.

If it wasn't for the trans community, there would be no violence against men or women. There would be no violence, no war, no conflict. If only the trans community could go away forever, Starmer would be able to support a Palestinian state.

So trans men treating trans women?
It’s one of these Labour policies which hasn’t been thought out but instead just made up for bigotry reasons.

Apparently for trans people to get dignity they need to be shut out from the rest of society. Streeting really playing into the terf view that trans people existing is someone a threat to women.

'Shaking off the fleas' update

It's not only Muslim voters they're losing.
As a black person, he lost me (and plenty others) after the Forde Report; their position on Israel/Gaza only reaffirms the lack of humanity.

They've learnt nothing from the issues faced under Blair. They so heavily want to champion it as a way of politics that they're ignoring all the findings on mistakes.

Being focus group led, untrustworthy, flip flopping, and spin were the key negatives associated with Blair. Labour back then knew these issues existed so why are they being ignored now.

Thank god the Tories are even shitter.

This country hasn't been far enough to the left for any proper lefties to win for some time and I don't think it will be sufficiently to the left for about 20 years when enough boomers die out and nobody owns a house.

They'll lose a decent chunk of left voters but will also gain a lot of middle leaning Tories. I can't stomach voting for this Labour and Starmer.
And they'll quickly lose those votes too if the Tories decide to pivot back from being a bunch of incompetent crypto-fascists. And then they'll be in the wilderness again.

Starmer won't care though, he'll have his 15 minutes as PM, as would his cabinet as ministers. Enough for them to secure cushy jobs post-Westminster where they can virtue signal about 'important global causes' for £1000 an hour.

Who will you be voting for instead?

Shy Tory?
This argument that irrespective of Labour's actual positions or policies you have to vote for them anyway because otherwise you're ipso facto supporting the Tories is one of the key enablers of this country's decent into a proxy of the Republican Democratic right wing dichotomy from hell seen in the US.

It was a question. I did not insinuate that, but I do find it strange that someone would proudly announce they are not voting for a party but then not give the other part of the equation.

If they are voting green or lib Dems or whatever great. Just weird not to mention it and often means one thing.

Because a very left agenda won't win in this country, in my soon to be 42 years in this country 29 of them have been ruled by The Tories and you hear people lefy and right say the country has gone to the dogs etc and yet they still vote for the same people over and again and the only time they didnt vote for them they voted for Tory Light instead in New Labour, this country is by and large a right to centre right leaning country and I say this as someone who would vote for a more left party but I'll never see a party like that elected in my lifetime it's about time some people accepted that rather than moan about Labour not doing x or y, Labour want to win and its been proved over a long time this is the only way unless you have some dewey eyed fantasy of an actual socialist party winning enough votes to form a government I mean Corbyn was closet and he wasn't even as radical as I imagine he wanted to be and he still lost but won the argument or some nonsense

Exactly, before Blair the last Labour government was in the 70s, if the Wilson-Callaghan years count as socialist enough then it's been 50 years since a proper lefty government in power.

I'm a little optimistic with the changing demographics of the UK, discontent with the tory party and the reduction of people owning their own homes that a left-leaning government becomes a reality. Still too many boomers though and Gen X might just be sliding toward Tory too.
