Keane on Haaland

To let it happen once was is excusable, to let it happen twice isn't. He's now subject to an FA investigation, and possible civil action by Haaland. Personally I think its stupid, because he's already been punished for it, he was sent off. Whats the difference between this and someone headbutting someone and being sent off for that? Both are clearly trying to hurt the opponent, are violent, and red card offenses. That should be the end of it. However admitting it seems to be a second offense, which is crazy. Any one who saw that tackle could see it wasn't a fair tackle, and was a sending off offense - so why should admitting that be so controversial and bring the game into disrepute? You'd have to charge everyone who's sent off, and all those who have been injured could sue. Should Keano sue Haaland for his cruciate injury??</strong><hr></blockquote>

Keane couldn't sue for his injury because he did it himself whilst trying to cripple another player. The guy has obviously got some sort of mental problems if he blames haaland for that injury.
The problem from where I see it is the fact that it wasn't a heat of the moment thing, but a pre-meditated attack, which is quite different from the normal foul.
Duncan ferguson got jailed in scotland for an on the field incident where he headbutted someone.

This wasn't smart admitting it while still active. Keane can probably pay and law suit but the problem is the FA, wonder what they will do and will they make an example out of him, i.e. a lengthy ban.

Keane has shown himself to be a coward..

Hurt himself whilst trying to foul Haaland in the first place, then tried to get "revenge" by going OTT on him at the end of the game...

Why is he so scared of the Norwegian?

Sue him...

Haaland is a twat and deserved everything he got, but the problem is Keane admitting it was deliberate while still active. These fecking biographies should be written when the career is over.

Haaland didn't deserve the cowardly tackle Keane resorted to..

The whole "fued" ( Keane getting himself in a lickle mood ) started by a bad tackle by Keane...

I hope Haaland ends it in court...that would another bonus from his amusing book

Why is Haaland a twat exactly?

<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

What would the rest of the footballing owrld talk about if it hadn't been for Man United..?

I wonder how the well balanced Roy Keane would handle the pressure of a court case and the FA acting on his words..

Pretty well I'd have thought..

Nice

He was banging on before both the derby games the season before last how much he hates Man United etc. That's not exactly something you expect from an opponent's captain.

Gary Neville has never been shy in coming forward with his hatred for Liverpool...

Does that make him a twat too?

Well then a good beating (i.e. a defeat at the hands of United) should be enough. feck's sake, who gives a feck if he hates United and says so. It's more indicative of him being a true bitter prick and he should be left to his bitter views. What Keane did and has now said just play into his hands.

Keano's in trouble now. The powers that be (FA) will use this as a way of making an example of him. Anyone who's read my post about Roy knows how highly I think of him but I'm worried about his future now. No matter how highly Fergie thinks of him there will only be so much controversy that the club captain can take. Hope I'm wrong. :(

I agree - I was just explaining to you why so many thinks he's a twat

I've never seen or heard Gary say he hates Liverpool - but if he does, it's just of course justified ;)

Still, that's Keano.</strong><hr></blockquote>

But he is aware of it which helps and he isn't proud of it. Some are.

Great response...

Hopefully Keane will be made to pay for his actions, and his stupidity in admitting to them..

In which case please follow the thread more carefully because my question was directed at Ahmed who had said that Haaland was a twat and deserved everything he got.

Very true

And also, re this book - it's nothing really new in it. Apart from the quit threat, that is

There will be hell to pay.
Hope the FAI and the English FA aren't on good terms.

him taking the piss out of munich 58 on his web site makes him a twat dont you think

2 lessons to be learned here...as Marcus says footballers should not be allowed release these books and as Haaland(the scum) and mccarthy(the fool) found out DON'T EVER tell Keano he's faking an injury...

I didn't know that. That does make him a twat. Keane is still a twat for saying what he has though.

I know - that's why he hasn't got a leg to stand on

Haaland is milking this in the press

Never understand people who write autobiographies while they're still only half way through their career. Why not write it after you've given up playing, coaching, managing etc. I suppose the answer to that is money - but Keano's a multi-millionaire so that doesn't make sense. I think their contracts should have a clause in them preventing them releasing autobiographies while still with the club.

The press are blowing this up out of all proportion it seems. I had a look at the back pages today, and at the actual quotes, and Haaland hasn't said he will sue (he made a joke about looking for his studs in his leg), nor has the FA said they will charge him with bringing the game into disrepute rather they will wait to read it in its full context. Since he's already served his ban from the red-card, its probably going to be a storm in a tea-cup, to sell papers.

"These comments have been used in newspaper serialisations of Roy Keane's forthcoming autobiography. Having read the comments we would like to see the book in its full context before making any decision.
"However we clearly would never expect any one individual to set out to physically hurt an opponent at any level of the game."<hr></blockquote>

Keano's a legend but this is crazy. I can't back him over this one, and do you seriously think United are going to want Keane in an executive position at the club (whether Coach or whatever) when he's going to say and do things which potentially bring the club into disrepute?

Where has he taken the piss out of Munich? Actually done it mind, not just interpretation...

Haaland has clearly got a case to sue, it doesn't matter that his current injury was not caused by Keane's lunge...Keane has admitted that he set out to get Haaland..and the incident is there for all to see..

This would not have been brought up but for Keane's "boasts"..so its not a great shock that Haaland is talking about the incident..he's been given a chance to get at Keane again..

Well done Roy

Sir Alex, when he started his managerial career, was player-manager for for some minor Scottish club, and they were abroad on a pre-season toru in which one opponent player was a right filthy thug. After getting one of Sir Alex' players injured, Sir Alex put himself on with one sole purpose - to get that player. This is a story from his own book - didn't stop the club keeping him on as a manager..

Keano was red-carded for the tackle, so he's been punished already. No one thought that tackle was accidental now did they?

And Haaland can't sue for damages if his damage is actually on the other leg. This is just silly. But I know you're gagging for a Leeds like episode to happen to us. I don't think you're going to get it though.

Keane was defended on here after the incident with claims that the tackle wasn't pre-meditated..it clearly was. Therefore he can be sued...if you plan to attack someone, go and do it, and then admit it afterwards there is clearly a case..

It won't be anything like the Leeds incident if it happens, no charges have been issued..but it will put pressure on your stupid captain, pressure that I reckon he may react badly to...

He deserves it IMO

He can't sue for damages unless the damage has been caused by that tackle.
