To let it happen once was is excusable, to let it happen twice isn't. He's now subject to an FA investigation, and possible civil action by Haaland. Personally I think its stupid, because he's already been punished for it, he was sent off. Whats the difference between this and someone headbutting someone and being sent off for that? Both are clearly trying to hurt the opponent, are violent, and red card offenses. That should be the end of it. However admitting it seems to be a second offense, which is crazy. Any one who saw that tackle could see it wasn't a fair tackle, and was a sending off offense - so why should admitting that be so controversial and bring the game into disrepute? You'd have to charge everyone who's sent off, and all those who have been injured could sue. Should Keano sue Haaland for his cruciate injury??</strong><hr></blockquote>
Keane couldn't sue for his injury because he did it himself whilst trying to cripple another player. The guy has obviously got some sort of mental problems if he blames haaland for that injury.
The problem from where I see it is the fact that it wasn't a heat of the moment thing, but a pre-meditated attack, which is quite different from the normal foul.
Duncan ferguson got jailed in scotland for an on the field incident where he headbutted someone.
