Music Kanye West

If you listen to the original songs he has used over the years it definitely looks like he at least messed up as many songs as he enhanced. Being a bit of an Otis Redding fan, 'Otis' with Jay-Z really gives me the creeps for example.

At the same time I have to say when 'It's too late' comes on and that bass doesn't kick in after ten seconds I feel like I'm genuinely missing something. So I guess I'd say 'Gone' is an example of Kanye song with an Otis Redding sample done quite well.

It f*cks me off that this megalomaniacal moron 'raps' all over great soul songs like Move On Up. It's like amateur karaoke hour at the Phoenix Club.
I just heard both songs. This is the perfect description of it. I have no idea why he'd do it. He'd basically ruining a good song by blabbering around it.

He has started to changed some of the songs streaming on Tidal now. Some of the lyrics, and Rihanna's mix is changed on "Famous".

Don't think he has fixed "Wolves" yet.

What is he, Windows 95?

Toss up between Graduation and TLOP as his worst album. Don't like Stronger either.

He has. Have you heard it yet?

Just seen his new music video for Famous on Twitter... WTF?!

Naked wax versions of himself, Kim, Donald Trump, Caitlyn Jenner, Rihanna and Amber Rose all sleeping on a massive bed together?! :wenger:

No paedophile or rape jokes before anyone thinks of posting one. Should go without saying really but have to post it as I know what some are like.

he is such a contrived piece of shit. i cannot wait until he disappears.

I certainly think his "outrageous" public and lyrical persona is (mostly) very contrived and deliberately provocative.

I mean this guy is a middle class son of a photojournalist and university English professor who won an art school scholarship before switching to studying English himself. Ill-educated ignorant Kanye is (mostly) as believable as working class cockney scruff Damon Albarn.

To me he seems like the typical Art School kid.

More cretinous bullshit.

Kanye West is fashion’s smallpox. He’s highly contagious. He leads to blindness. (I assume editors have supported him for this long because some desperate obsession with fame and relevance has impared their vision.) His clothes are like lumpy, bumpy, fabric rashes that plague the body. (Speaking of which, there were clothes at this “fashion show,” kind of, but they’re really not worth mentioning, unless you want to go into the poor fit, the tired, too tight or uninventively oversized silhouettes, or the fact that the shoes were so poorly made that they broke, and about a third of West’s street-cast models couldn’t walk down the runway. One had to be scooped up by Bergdorf Goodman men’s style director Bruce Pask to avoid a tumble.) He’s a veritable pandemic. (Damn you, social media!) And you know what? He’s also easily stopped by the vaccination that is integrity, common sense, and reality.

Come on, fashion. This pseudo performance piece (models stood still, and then sat down, and then stood up again) was embarrassing. The clothes were objectively unremarkable, if not cheap-looking and ill-conceived, and the whole two-and-a-half-hour affair was a fantastic waste of time, unless, of course, you live to catch an IRL glimpse of the Kardashian clan. Can everyone please, please crawl out of this man’s ass? The fact that Anna Wintour hit up Yeezy’s masturbatory disaster and took no interest in what Parsons’ students—the future of New York fashion—had to offer is incredibly disappointing. For the love of god, just stop the madness!

Apparently some of the shoes started disintegrating as the models were walking in them, too.

I know people in the fashion industry, and they fecking hate him. Precisely because important people keep giving him oceans of time and indulgence, that he simply doesn't deserve.

I know nothing about fashion, so this won't be the best post but couldn't you easily just say(When talking about the journalist comparison of Kanye and Trump), that Kanye like Trump their seer selfishness is exposing the emptiness of the ''system''(In Kayne case it's, to outsider anyway the complete emptiness of the fashion industry).

I can't but feel the fashion industry like the video game industry is at the best of time incredibly silly and anyone who get's angry about it, needs a bit of a reality check. Just be thankful Kanye's make crappy clothes and not trying to be President.

It's probably some kind of ego-driven statement.

Kanye: "Walk a mile in my shoes."

Everyone: "We can't."

Kanye: "Exactly!"

To counter the wave on this page, I saw him live at MSG on Monday and he was excellent. He did many songs off Pablo but he went deep into his catalog, all the way from College Dropout.

He closed out with Ultralight Beam, and for a second I thought he was going to bring out Chance. If he did that I wouldn't have even.

As for the fashion piece, feck the entire industry. They've been getting way with and hiding shady practices for years. Now that Kanye comes along, he's the bad guy? Classic Trumpism.

Edit: Also...

The thing is, Love him or hate him he is a style icon to a lot of people. Just look at Adidas for example, Kanye is one of the main reasons that Adidas is considered cool again and probably for the first time in years (well in my lifetime probably) it's considered cooler then Nike. I think his fashion line is garbage personally but his Yeezy trainers are awesome.

I'm still waiting for him to announce a Euro leg of the Pablo tour but it's not looking likely now unfortunately.

He's brilliant live,

I saw him & Jay-Z on the WTT tour at the o2 a few years back, then I saw him at the Apollo in Feb/March of the following year just before Yeezus was released
His performance solo was better than with Jay-z.
He really can put on a great show, it's one of the best concerts I've been to.

Hopefully he brings Pablo to the UK but i'm not holding my breath.

I'm pretty indifferent to Kanye and his music (Yeezuz is a brilliant album though, by far his best imo), but I do enjoy how much seethe he creates and he just feeds from it.
