We've rattled you so much you're resorting to bigging up one of your rivals

What next a passionate defense of Leeds United? :wenger:

Dearie me. Reading comprehension not your strong suit then?

Lets not derail the topic now. Wheres havertz going to play? In goal?

Whats going to happen the next england star hudson odoi? fat frank giving up on him already after his rape allegations? Would think thats the norm at the club after years of john terry, ashley cole and the like?

What exactly is this thread about now?

The renties trying to sign some overrated german kid but struggling to do so despite no competition.

We're trying to figure out what fat frank is going to do with hudson-odoi, abraham and the rest of the english lads after he spends millions to replace them. Disgraceful.

Always has been a club filled with mercenaries and rent-a-players. No youth has come through there in fecking decades.

What exactly is this thread about now?
Some guy that's got anger issue's over our club so badly he didn't even realize he was responding to a Levekusen fan :wenger:

He must have started supporting United in 2013.

So Havertz plays his last game for Leverkusen. He ends the season with 18 goals in all comps - 38 goals in 86 games in the past 2 seasons. Those are Lampard-esque numbers.

Need to get a mega bid in now, given the situation with Sancho. Chelsea seem a bit hesitant to go the full £90m. We could jump in but Woodward is still thinking about paying a fiver for a kid he saw doing five keepie-uppies in a back garden the other day

I mean, Zehner has been accused of a lot of things in this thread, but being a Chelsea fan is a new one.

Only noticed that now. Yeah, that's a new one, but I'd say it probably doesn't make my top 5 absurd allegations in this thread.

Anyway, I'm curious what happens in the next days now that we're out of the EL. Suppose this saga will gather some pace now.

Suddenly the Havertz rumours have gone quiet.

If Chelsea have finally realised that they need to buy two/three defenders/GK instead of another attacker, it isn't good news for us!

Chelsea board are an embarrassment for dragging this out for so long. They're a laughing stock.

My sources are telling me this will be done by Weds.

Interesting, they seem to be playing hard ball on the fee according to reports, if they're asking really asking £90m we should walk. If another club wants pay that let them. Take the risk and try get much cheaper next summer when he's in last 12 months of contract.

I doubt this. Looks like we are rightfully playing hardball. We hold all the cards and I don't mind taking this all the way to deadline or walking if they don't budge on the price. They'll be lucky to get €35m from Bayern next summer.

This is as much in the balance as the Sancho transfer is. We just dont follow this closely enough to get antsy over it

Dortmund in the CL, financially don't need to sell, owners been firm in saying Sancho isn't leaving. Leverkusen in the Europa League, financially worse off than Dortmund, sources always said Havertz would play out the Europa League but nothing else. Not as firm about price tag as Dortmund.

Its a decently big difference.

How are they not as firm? They havent moved an inch on their asking price?

We are very firm on the prize tag, I suppose that´s the reason why this whole thing takes so long and doesn´t really move forward at the moment. Our sporting director said numerous times, that there will be no corona discount.

According to multiple sources. We don't know how things go behind the scenes, all we can go off of is the sources. All sources for Dortmund regarding Sancho said they don't need to sell but would if €120m was bid, and now are saying they won't sell due to the deadline (remains to be seen if that's true). Thats it. For Havertz, it was never as firm as they only ever explicitly stated he would stay until the end of the eurola league, and sources then say they are in a worse financial position so are more likely to compromise on the fee, compared to Dortmund who have an all or nothing stance.

Main difference is the players contracts, Sancho is signed till 2023, Havertz deal is till June 2022. Once get to the last 12 months selling club will get worried about a Bosman, we can sign a pre contract with Havertz for free transfer at end of his deal in Winter window 2021, 6 months before end of contract.

For me, we're better concentrating on value, not copying Barcelona, Utd, or even look at Real with Hazard.... paying hugely inflated fees for players. We have loads of AMs in our squad anyway and most of them are home grown players we want to give minutes to. If we can get Havertz for €60m max I would do a deal, if not walk and keep our powder dry, hoping we can get him for zero at the end of his contract anyway.

But you are only in pole position because of Covid. If he waits another year he has Madrid and Bayern waiting since thats what theyre asking him to do anyway.

Madrid have James and Bale to shift, plus the Bernabeau to pay for, doubt they'd be interested for big money. Bayern maybe, though they have a stacked squad, have Musiala to bring through .... and have just signed Sane.

For me Covid impact hasn't even hit yet, if we can get for a reasonable fee now ok, my idea of reasonable is €60m total deal cost including add ons. If not sit on cash and wait is the smart move I think.

I think €60 is too low for a player of his quality, age , position and attributes. €80m after easy add-ons would be fair IMO. We should walk if they want anything more than that and even if Havertz wouldn't mind waiting and choosing Real or Bayern over Chelsea next summer, Leverkusen know they won't get anywhere close to €80m then.
We should bid our time and take this closer to deadline. They will relent and probably sell for even less than €80m.

Does Chelsea have the money to additionally strengthen their defense and goalkeeper? Or would Havertz for ~100 millions be the last big transfer?
If its the latter, I really don't understand your approach. Your offense war already good this season (especially with Pulisic in form) and you already bought Ziyech and Werner.

What do Chelsea fans think? Would your money be wisely spent on another attacking midfielder?

We definitely won´t sell for under 80 million €. I urge people to not just listen to "sources" on the internet, but actually listen to the things the people in charge have to say. We don´t have a problem with Havertz staying for another season and we don´t have a problem letting him go for less next year when big clubs like Bayern or Real come into the picture.

I mean we have been heavily linked with a bunch of players in various positions, not just Havertz. Romano has repeated told us Havertz and Chilwell are both priorities for Chelsea. Then the rumours linking players like Rice, Dunk, any keeper of your choosing (Oblak, Onana, Pope, Henderson etc). As I have understood it, once the Havertz and Chilwell deals are concluded, Chelsea would need to sell to add further players to the squad.

That's where players like Emerson (to Inter £25-30m), Bakayoko (to Milan £20-25m), Batshuayi, Barkley Jorginho, Kante etc come in. I don't know if we'll flog all the players we want to get rid of, but that's the lay of the land at the moment.

For the price mentioned, it would be wise Chelsea uses the resource to improve the defense first. That should be the priority.

On paper we should have signed a CM of signing Hazard.

When talents like this become so openly available you jump in and ask questions later.

I remember 2016 we were at a similar stage in the Morata saga as the Sancho saga. "Personal terms fine, can't agree fee" - Lukaku, I thought, was practically a Chelsea player. Then out of nowhere, we've got Lukaku.

Maybe we can swing a parallel and get Havertz out of nowhere? A few signs that Leverkusen aren't loving doing business with them, judging by that managers press conferences.

In that comparison, we would then end up with Sancho. Hardly a disastrous consolation prize.

I hear it’s still looking very likely to happen.

Doubt anyone really knows, unless Leverkusen cave and just accept our bid.

Will be up to Mr A, if he wants to raise our offer (when there are potentially cheaper alternatives on the market) will he risk the reported €25-30m they're demanding over what we offered to to get the deal done this window. Given he'll be covering our losses if things go pear shaped for football finances, due to the covid crisis.

I wouldn't bother, what we actually need is a LB. Better to walk if they insist on €90m or so.
