45-50 million Euros to a club that just sold its prized CM prospect to Bayern for 19 +7% sell on is taking the piss.
I think Gravenberch had less time on his contract which contributed to the low fee.

I'm not sayin I'm a fan of my midfielder or winger or striker to be a giant, but the CB in PL needs to be at least 186-7+ in order to not get killed every game.

Which is fair enough. Apart from Silva, Azpilicueta, Romero, Soyuncu, Konsa, Guehi, White, Holgate, Veltman, Tanganga...

No way we're paying 45-50million euros. I don't see us paying more than £30million

As others said, Gravenberch had 1 yr left. It also was 19 + potential 5m bonus.

However I agree 45-50 is a bit high at the moment. I think the deal will be around 35-40m euro's or maybe just over 40.

They're losing many players this year, maybe if we did this a bit earlier we could've had a better deal.

If we truly do have a transfer budget of £120 million, then 3 deals would be the max, we could do.

If the likes of Timber are going to cost 40-50 million however, then us signing any good striker, is extremely unlikely.

Yes we have to factor potential sales into it, but how many can we actually sell and not loan?

Henderson
Jones
Bailly
Martial
AWB
Pereira

Those come to mind, but I think bar maybe 1, most would leave on loan deals.

If Timber doesn't come here this summer, does he go elsewhere? Or does he just stay at Ajax for another year?

Not that I am aware, but that's why I said developing.
I think I've read before he plays as an inverted RB that acts as a DM. So maybe he has plans to fully transition him to that DM role in the future. It could make sense with the Kante rumors. Kante is a short-term solution, but he and Timber would be our DM upgrade this summer.

I think the Timber rumors are real, but what his role going forward is being kept close to ETH and the staff.

Think he either joins us or signs another contract at Ajax this summer

Hmm.

So if it's a case of signing just one of Timber or Torres this summer, we could conceivably opt for Torres while still having Timber in mind as a longer term target. Say if Lindelof leaves next summer or something. So the deal not making financial sense for us this summer wouldn't neccesarily mean the end of our interest in him or chances of signing him.

I agree. Timber should not really leave Ajax yet. However with EtH he might see this as a big opportunity to make a move to a big club in a big league with a v good chance of getting into the team. I think with most other big clubs in big leagues Timber wouldnt be challenging for a starting spot yet, but with EtH he could really fancy his chances.

Nevertheless it's still early for him. He has enough time to make a move to a big league and Ajax is active in CL as well. One or two more years at Ajax in which he becomes captain and grows as a player and leader before moving abroad would be a more logical move in normal circumstances. But EtH could be a gamechanger here. Hence he'll either sign a new deal or make the move imo.

Given all the rumours I kind of expect the deal to happen. I think EtH really tries to pursuade him to join as Timber's versality would give him a lot of extra options. Not only on the pitch, but also in the transferwindow from now on as Timber could fill more gaps in the team sheet.

That's true, but I don't really fancy our chances of signing him next year if he stays at Ajax. There's a big chance of more interesting options for him by that time and he's the type of player many fans will be heartbroken about if they fail to acquire him, like with Thiago back in the day. Every transfer will always be a gamble, but I really, really think we should get this one done this year.

Ajax want €50m, we'll probably settle at around €35-40 plus bonuses. I imagine it'll be a fairly straightforward deal to get done. Ajax always come across as a fair and efficient club to deal with.

Anything above 20m for this kid will be a joke and a sign that things haven't changed a bit at United.

20 million doesn't even get you Tyrone Mings, your talking about a top level talent in europe. I understand it's the done thing to be negative about United at the moment but that's just ridiculous

What do you think of Rashford? Otherwise you could also try to sell him to create more budget.

No but it gives other clubs a chance to sneak in and sign him. For that to work we’d have to get some kind of pre agreement with him and his club that we’ll sign him next season but then that’s just like signing him and loaning him out for a season back to them.
