Van Piorsing
Lost his light sabre
Not making my mind but just found it interesting
Inexperience mistakes.
This is exactly why he'll be under huge pressure in United, especially if Maguire & Linde will have another disaster class season.

How do you know it's a fraud account?Hope this is true but this is a fraud account.
Yeah but Chris Wood and the like. I have a feeling we’ll have Maguire and Varane* as our starting pairing and Timber rotating in and out, maybe even playing right back for the next season or so. He’s very young and the physicality might be a shock to the system. We’re going to need someone to attack headers and deal with the more physical players. Wouldn’t surprise me if we even looked to bring in two centre backs.Cannavaro and Baresi were both 5ft 9. They managed ok.

It'll be timber at right back anyway for next season if we actually sign him. Timber can adapt to the club and league there, and gradually move centrally if/when he adapts and needs to replace whoever, or he just stays at RB and that's where he develops to make use of his on ball ability.Yeah but Chris Wood and the like. *Lindelof if we’re being honest with ourselves
Because a lot of the ball is in the air in the premier league.

How often has he actually played RB? It would be a bit bizarre for a manager to play him as a centre back, immediately buy him at his next club and immediately change his position to full back. And how has he performed there? It'll be timber at right back anyway for next season if we actually sign him. So is Van Dijk. See how that panned out.Maguires a but towerring unit, see how that panned out.
We won’t be short. Laird, Williams, Dalot for the RB spot if AWB leaves. How often has he actually played RB? It would be a bit bizarre for a manager to play him as a centre back, immediately buy him at his next club and immediately change his position to full back. And how has he performed there?
This idea also puts us in an awkward position in terms of depth.
If we let go of AWB, Bailly, Jones and Tuanzebe and only brought in Timber then we're suddenly short on numbers in defence.
It would leave us with 3 CBs, 1 RB + Timber covering both positions. Not great.
Bit of an outdated theory that the stats no longer support - and probably haven't done for almost 10 years.
La Liga has more tedency for long arial balls than the EPL now. It would be better to remove a susepctible defender against Burnley and play him against the other teams who actual play football.
If Varane gets injured again and Lindelof with Maguire proceed doing their usual stuff, Ten Hag could simply have no choice. If he comes, he’ll play at right back instead? He won’t be displacing Varane and Maguire/Lindelof in his debut year I think
Still feels short. We won’t be short. Laird, Williams, Dalot for the RB spot if AWB leaves.
Timber, Varane, Maguire, Lindelof, Mengi for the CB spots if Jones and Bailly leave.
Shaw, Telles, and Williams again for the LB spot.
De Ligt is on his way to singing an extension with Chielleini on his way out. He's not going anywhere soon just yetI still think we should go for DeLigt instead of this kid. If we really want to sign a young CB, go all in for Ndicka.
Yes, I would rather we sign Ndicka and a proper CDM. This kid needs more experience. He will do fine in Bundesliga though.De Ligt is on his way to singing an extension with Chielleini on his way out. He's not going anywhere soon just yet
Agreed. I'd worry more about our footballing ability first rather than trying to head it.Fans are worried about anything nowadays. He might not be an aerial monster but who is in our squad? If he is a top talent, we should buy him
Pretty certain that's how ETH is approaching it as well.Agreed. I'd worry more about our footballing ability first rather than trying to head it.

We've had one of the tallest teams and physically stout teams overall for years now and where has that brought is in terms of the quality of football and results on the pitch?
Would be good having a squad of competent and intelligent footballers at every position again like our rivals who've been running the league have...
Cannavaro and Baresi were both 5ft 9. They managed ok.
Good post and fair play for introducing a new counterpoint rather than just naming short players that were either good aerially or play in a three or for possession heavy sides even though none of this would be relevant to Timber at United in its current guiseBit of an outdated theory that the stats no longer support - and probably haven't done for almost 10 years.

Most likely around 30-45m, I’d expect. How much are we talking? (Not that it’s our money)
If he can cover CB and RB, young, knows ETH, not super expensive transfer or wages…then he ticks a few boxes.
It’s not a zero sum calculation you know. There are players above six foot that can play football. Van Dijk, Laporte, Alderweireld, Bonucci are all excellent passers. It’s not Jurrien Timber or Shane Duffy.Might as well sign Dan Burn instead if folk are fixated with how tall he is rather than looking at the ability of the player which is way more important than height.
He’s a very good highly rated young player and if ETH thinks he can come in and do a job then that’s all that matters in the end.

Had a suspicion the argument that aerial ability was particularly vital in the PL was being overplayed somewhat, nice to see some data backing the point.
Is this what we're calling him these days? Surely part of the problem. A centre half partnership of Vicky and Maggy was doomed from the start. His signing will help us clear out the dead wood like Maggy.
Not making my mind but just found it interesting
According to an Ajax fan on here, he used to be a RB in their academy before being promoted to the first teamThis sounds an even worse idea if he's actually a centre back.
The days of getting by with a centre back at right back have surely long long gone. They need to have a proper attacking gene now.
