Hate to see him finally winning trophies with Liverpool.
Another trophy for 'Klippity Klopp the final flop'
So we're including that glorified friendly among Klopp's list of cup final victories.
Reaching a bit, aren't you?
It's still a trophy and one that you only get if you're good enough to win a preceding one. Also, if he hadn't won it, the narrative would have been about Klopp losing finals again and reverting to not winning trophies within his grasp. Nice to win, not a massively important one but it is still one nonethelessSo we're including that glorified friendly among Klopp's list of cup final victories.

Yes we are. Cause sure as hell you would love to let us know it would have been another failure for him had we not won.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that game was nothing more than a European charity shield. It's not a recognised trophy.

Uh, what?
It is. An official UEFA trophy.

Not in terms of significance. It was nothing more than a glorified friendly.
Klopp lost a glorified friendly 10 days ago, no mention of it in this thread. Klopp wins a glorified friendly tonight, all of a sudden the dippers are out in full force. Classical deluded dippers.

No, if you gave Pep the resources of Poch and Klopp he would be nowhere near where these 2 are

It's sad as feck.
I can't believe they are openly celebrating this tinpot 'trophy'.
Well, plenty of posters here on the Caf were including the Community Shield as a trophy in 2016/17 when Utd won it. Can't really fault Liverpool fans for including the Super Cup as a trophy as well.So we're including that glorified friendly among Klopp's list of cup final victories.

I agree. This "trophy" means nothing to me. Would be happier if these one off game wankpot trophies were stopped. There are currently 5 "real" trophies. Used to be 6 with the Cup Winners Cup.
This will be forgotten very quickly, and if we don't beat Saints I think it will be viewed as a contributing factor. 120 mins in extreme heat, with travel involved. Load of bollocks.
When the teeth were running in slow motion it looked like an advert for Baywatch
Exactly. It is not about United or Liverpool fans. Fans are not a monolithic group. Some United fans count the Community Shield as a trophy, some don't. Same with Liverpool fans for Super Cup.Well, plenty of posters here on the Caf were including the Community Shield as a trophy in 2016/17 when Utd won it. You scousers are funny. Considering the lack of silverwire after 2005. The replica of tonight's cup will end up in your museum. Carpe diem.

Here we go again. It's not a friendly. It might be a glorified summer trophy, but it is silverware, UEFA silverware on top of that. It has to be won. Losing it raises questions and eyebrows if the opposition was a weak EL-level club.
It sure would have felt good winning it in 2017, right? Or 1999. You can't win a "sextete" if you lose the Supercup final.
There's our fans whom want to win (any) a trophy and there's the fans that have the mentality of "well it's meaningless anyway, lets go out of league cup, fa cup the in early rounds so we can concentrate on european final/ PL in the long run" yeah because that worked well for us in 2014,2016, 2018 which ended in utter disappointment.
The UEFA Super Cup and the Community Shield are not the same thing though. The Super Cup, like the UCL and UEL, is a recognized UEFA competition. There is nothing embarassing about recognizing it for what it is. What is actually embarassing is lumping the Super Cup with the Charity Shield or Audi Cup...United fans who counted the community shield as a trophy were embarrassing and Liverpool fans who are counting the Super Cup as a trophy are also embarrassing.
And yes, before someone says it .. counting the Audi Cup would be even worse.

It's a two-team competition, the same way the UCL is a 32-team competition. Like the UCL too, you qualify by the virtue of what you did the preceding season. The final follows the rules of every other UEFA club competition, and you get a trophy and medals at the end of the game. If you consider the UCL a genuine competition, then the UEFA Super Cup is one too. Objectively, it is a complete and official UEFA competition, and it's nothing like the Charity Shield or other pre-season cups.Whatever UEFA call it, it's a 'cup' that you go immediately to the final of by virtue of what you did last season. Thus I simply don't/can't view it as a genuine trophy.
I'd say exactly the same if we somehow managed to win it, and most Liverpool fans I know in real life feel the same way after winning it.

The Super Cup goes straight to the final because there's two teams. You go through the group stage and play multiple knockout games in the UCL because it's a 32-team competition, and the 32 teams has to be brought down to two teams in order for them to contest the final. An English team qualifies for the UCL by finishing top four in the preceding BPL season and an English team qualifies for the UEFA Super Cup by winning the UCL or UEL in the preceding season. Teams aren't just picked from a hat as is the case in friendlies, and you have to achieve something specific to qualify for it the next season. There aren't much difference between the three UEFA club comps except the fact that some are more prestigious than the others.Uh .. you qualify for the CL via what you did the previous season, and then you go through a groups stage and multiple knockout games to reach the final. You don't get to just play a one off game to win a trophy.
The super cup is a one off game you get to by virtue of winning another trophy. Hence why a vast majority of fans don't take it seriously as a proper cup, regardless of what UEFA brand it in order to make it more attractive.
It's a nice European season opener, nothing more and nothing less.
