Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

£66m for Alisson is all add-ons included. Keita ended up £53m and will not rise anymore. Salah was £34m which is an absolute steal no matter how you look at it, same for Mane which was a similar amount.

I don't see the problem. Actually, we still have more than enough money left to buy other players.

It wasn't the case of there being a problem of you guys spending. You'll never find that argument from me, or any United fan in their right mind.

The whole issue was that Klopp openly spoke against expensive transfers and used Pogba as a reference point, and said even if he had money he wouldn't do it.
Yet he is.
Yes Mane & Salah are steals, but that doesn't negate the fact that VVD & Alisson are record fee's for players in their positions - that goes against exactly what he was saying.

If you have aspirations to win the best trophies, you have to spend, which is what United, Chelsea & City fans have been saying for years, but Liverpool (& Spurs) fans have held this idea of being morally superior because you don't spend a lot of money. Even though you have.

To be fair, those comments does sound holier than thou right now. Liverpool fans shouldn't give a feck ofcourse but don't embarrass yourself by defending him atleast.

The pressure is on him this season though, he has spent quite a lot of money now, can't play the plucky underdog card.

You're wrong, it was £59m for CL, £53m for EL and £48m if no Europe.

BBC reported Salah at £34m, but I know Roma has said it was more than that. I just preferred to chose a source which suited my arguments, as did you.

I don't care how much we paid. We have a stronger starting XI than United at the moment, and for a large part that's down to Klopp.

Re bold part

FFS, I'm taking official figure, not some journalist report

Re Keita, I would believe foreign media who are more than good enough, rather than English ones, especially Liverpool ones whose only job is to do PR stunt.

You'll be looking at about £460m of Klopp signings if Fekir joins too, and a £600m squad. I'll bet that surprises a few.

Interesting!
£460m in under 3 years? Isn't that more than Mourinho?
Assuming we don't sign someone for 70m+ this season.

It's been discussed to death by now though. It's getting tiresome to see every Liverpool-related thread full of "hypocrite!!!" after every signing we make, although I don't blame you.

We should just all get a "We know Klopp is a hypocrite" tagline if that means you'd ever shut up about it. We know it by now.

Well if Liverpool fans stop with their laughable excuses, don't think there will be more posts discussing about it.

Alright done.

Don't think I've defended him about it, merely played devil's advocate sometimes. I'd be interested to know what he'd reply if he's asked about that quote now though, he should just admit it was a stupid thing to say so we can all move on.

Alright done.
Cheers.

No, they aren't.
Actually they have Miki transfer as 44m Euros which seems excessive.

Yes £450m in under 3 years, £240m odd of which this summer (assuming Alisson and Fekir are done, which they basically are).

Think Jose has spent £330m as of now.

I'd like to think he would be honest about it. Something like this:

I was wrong. I was wrong to believe my own hype, to believe I was a cut above your average football manager. I was wrong to believe I could build a premier league title-winning outfit on a shoestring budget. I was wrong and I know that now. Forgive me, that I may forgive myself.

But in reality, we should expect something alone the lines of:

It's all your fault. Thank you for the interview.

How much have they spent this window?
Keita £53m
Fabinho £43m
Shaqiri £13m
Alisson £66m (including add-ons)

= £175m. I expect one more signing, possibly/hopefully Fékir, and a few more outgoings (a few of Ings, Origi, Mignolet, Sturridge, Moreno, ...).

Wasn't Keita signed last year just to arrive this year?

This pretty much. Pool fans are stupid in trying to defend Klopp from his comments, they were hypocritical and make him look a bit silly.

Instead of being so worried about defending those comments you should just accept the fact you have strengthened your squad the most so far out of the top 6 teams.

Wasn't Keita signed last year just to arrive this year?
Yes, but most of us didn't include him in our spending last year because he'd only arrive now, so it's only fair to include him this time. I think the payments will only start from now on as well so.

Some big coin that.

Some big coin that.

And as united have shown over the last five years, it guarantees you very little.

Players don't always settle our adjust to English football. Add in the pressure of trying to end a 28 year drought plus the assistant manager having left and there's every chance they do worse not better than last season.

Doesn't really need to give out any excuses right. Fans wouldn't mind a top 3 finish again. And the media are busy dissing Jose, don't really go after Klopp.

He's very salty, as one would be of a club that won nothing and finished lower than his...

I'm not salty though we both won nothing and enter the UCL at the same stage. I was happy with last season and now we're addressing our weaknesses, midfield and GK. I don't care if Klopp is being hypocritical as long as he addresses our weaknesses. The fact it's pissing off a lot of United fans means we're moving the right way.

First Press Conference

Reporter : Jurgen £175m spent in the transfer windows some excellent additions, you must be chuffed.
Jurgen : Ah yes!! But we can still lose the game on an offside decision

I don't know why Liverpool fans are so happy at spending big.

As a result of all these immoral spending, Klopp' gonna retire anyyyy day now.

Typical. Lost the CL-final and blames the goalkeeper completely. Now he is found bouncing around throwing money at the problem.

Well you would have to concede that they have spent their money much better than we have. Very impressed by their signings, underwhelmed by ours especially as we had more work needed

Have they. Keita, Fabinho, Shaquiri, Allison and Fekir (if he signs) have played zero competitive games for Liverpool yet. They could all turn out to be bad buys. They could also be great, but my point is that they will be going into the new season bedding in a fair number of new players.

Plenty of united fans thought that Bailly, Zlatan, Pogba and Mikhi were going to turn us into title contenders that year. I was one of them. We finished outside the top four and drew about fifteen games.

Nah that is the thing, I haven't rubbished anything on the United front. I am on the fence there, I only truly gave a proper opinion regarding Liverpool

So still a double standard then...just a different double standard.

There is a chance that might be true but they have targeted weakness and brought in players that at least on paper address that. I guess we will have to wait and see

What exactly did he mean by that?

I've always thought he meant he would not spend all his budget on one star player because it would unbalance the team, and make them over reliant on the star player. He would prefer to build a team to be able to play together where one player being injured or simply not playing well does not impact on the overall performance.

Where he said if football became this way he would be out of a job, I believe he was saying an over reliance on 1 team member would make the coach almost irrelevant compare to the star player, like messi/sampaoli at Argentina.

I think the whole quote is long winded way of saying if he had a £100 million pound budget, he would spend it multiple very good players and not 1 star player.
I could be wrong of course, but that's my view.

Easy there Sarah Sanders.

Oh Dear, Oh Dear!

So Jurgen "Doesn't need to spend as much as Jose" Klopp, has now spent more than Mourinho, owns the worlds most expensive defender and could wrap up a deal for the worlds most expensive goal keeper.

For years blind Kloppites insisted he did things "The right way" and would "Focus on developing young players" at Dortmund and when he first came to LFC. It turns out he wasn't spending like Mourinho because.......He couldn't. Now he has some money burning a hole in his pocket he cant spend it quick enough

P.s Don't get me started Pep "The football purest who also doesn't need to spend large amounts of money to achieve things" Guardiola.
