Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

His latest quotes aren't wrong. A lot posters here seem happy enough with our approach to the game today. Quite bizarre really. A year later and we should be going for them, especially in their poor form.

We are defending him because he's our manager. Liverpool supporters defend Klopp too, and he's miles worse than José.

There are some things you shouldn’t defend in my opinion. You do not have to agree with everything he does.

"You could not play this way at Liverpool, but it's okay for Man Utd"

Because playing the Liverpool way has been a) very successful the last 8 games and b) also meant that they still couldnt beat us today
.

there's an awful lot of drivel being spouted on here - & projection forward based on a poor 2nd half of footy from Utd, let's continue in numbered easy to misunderstand soundbites

1 - the 1st half was OK
1a - the narrative about Mourinho's style of play is very believable (cos it's partially true?)
2 - the awesomely attractive Liverpool didn't score today either, Klopp is starting to sound a bit desperate
2a - one very poor half - overreaction thereto = 'bedwetting'' some would say
3 - Utd are unbeaten in the League 6-2-0, goals 21/2, LFC are 7th, 13/12
4 - not every game features 5 or 6 goals
5 - Klopp is a whining bellend, this is the ''Klopp is a whining bellend'' thread
6 - something something.. sounding like Klopp
7 - something else about other posters that might get me banned

we need to lighten up

I don’t understand why United fans say this. Mourinho always parks the bus against any big team. I’m serious, I can’t recall a game where Mourinho has played a big side and not sat deep and look for a counter attack. The players he has is irrelevant, he will still play the same way and to be fair it works for him.At Madrid he would play a midfield three of Diarra, Khedira and Pepe.

Jose tends to adopt a defensive approach when playing away from home against the top 6 teams, at home things are very different. When your lot come to OT later in the season, he will set us up in a far more attacking system and the goals will flow. He is the ultimate pragmatist and yet remains the most highly decorated manager in the premier league. You call him defensive or a coward until you're blue in the face but one thing remains absolutely certain, Jose Mourinho knows exactly what it takes to build a title winning football club.

Klopp on the otherhand is absolutely clueless, rather taking a sly dig at Jose's tactics in the media, because his team simply were not good enough to break us down, perhaps he should be taking a leaf out of Jose's book on how to win a league title.

José was probably banking on that.
This is exactly it, and he alluded to this in the post-match interview. Not that many will take notice. Klopp could've gone for the jugular in the final third of the game and bottled it.

Guess Klopp isn't the gung-ho risk-averse rock metal football manager that he's made out to of be after all.

I think Klopp is right. Mourinho plays winning football - strong powerful tactically negative away from home in big games and he wins trophies.

I'd have preferred Klopp or Pep myself. All about personal preferences.

And win nothing?

To be honest, I'm finding it difficult to be mad at Klopp.
Mourinho recently made the same comments about Stoke.

I'm in agreement with Jose on this. For all the criticism of Jose, Klopp persisted with three in midfield against our two. And then he replaced forwards with forwards. That's not how a home team looks to win a match.

You know whats also unacceptable at Manchester United? Not winning trophies.

klopp has lost the plot a bit. Clearly feeling the pressure. Has a worse record than rodgers ffs.

Maybe if Klopp adopted a more conservative approach from time to time he may have won a few more finals.

If Klopp could manage his team to stifle opponents and gain useful away points then maybe he'd have more success.

Klopp is that pastor or politician that does things in plain sight but blames others and the followers blindly follow along.

He knew if he took off a central midfielder that United would surge right past that lightweight two-man con of a midfield and win the match. So he grinded out a home draw, subbing off attackers/forwards for attackers/forwards instead of going out in a blaze of glory. He always had that ace in the hole to satisfy the fanbase in the event of a draw or loss - just bitch about the opponent's game plan.

What I don't understand - we are playing against a mediocre back-5. Still we don't try to put them under pressure. If Mourinho notices that his main plan isn't working. Why not try playing longer balls - win corners, put them under pressure.

Not really. It made sense in a lot of ways. Uniteds always been shit at anfield, with or without mourinho. In great form, but a few key injuries, and liverpool were desperate for a win while we've been on a run. Coming away with a clean sheet is excellent for us.

That is not correct. The best performance I have seen from us at Anfield in many years were with van Gaal when Mata scored 2. We haven't Always been shit at Anfield.

stevie G got sent off in his last match against us. Lets not forget that they played with 10 men for the second half.

That quote buys him a lot of time with Liverpool fans. A bit like Rafa quoting YAWN.

I'm sure RAWK are eating it up right now

We were actually a lot better in the first half in that one.

They didn't play back 5...

They outnumbered us in midfield. We tried to go long. Problem was we didn't support Lukaku well and didn't have a feel for second ball. One player which seemed to be the key weakness is Mkhi. Invisiable d fensively while couldn't support Lukaku in any form of tactic. Fellaini would at least offer a better chance at getting the second ball.

By back 5 I thought the GK as well - was being a bite inaccurate there

What I can’t understand is Mourinho saying he couldn’t be more positive due to not having more midfield options. Does he really believe having Fellaini in midfield would of helped you mount more counter attacks? You can’t counter attack teams if your wingers are playing as secondary full backs. The old Mourinho used to kill teams on the counter attack but he just doesn’t anymore.

He really believes that if we had three fully fit midfielders (he mentioned Carrick and Pogba as well as Fellaini) we'd have been able to hold possession, frustrate your fans and starve your forwards. And thereby force you to do something stupid, like actually commit another body to attack to try and win the game. As it was, we were giving you enough opportunities just by losing the ball, to make you imagine that you had a chance of winning without taking any risks.

Our subs were to set the team up to counterattack. Yours were Klopp hoping that by replacing your first choice forwards with your second string forwards you could change the game.

Yeah that was literally the only year we actually played well there and dominated. And what good did it do for the season? Performances in certain big games like this one dont say much about a team. Some games, sure, but away to liverpool? Always a struggle. We didnt even play that well when they had fecking hodgson in charge if memory serves. Or dalglish.

Exactly

The justification for Jose s tactics here is hysterical. I'd understand if we were a team with a smaller budget etc but we've spent a bloody fortune on some great attacking players. For me it's demoralising .

Couldn’t agree more. Depressing that one of the biggest clubs in the world is purely relying on nicking a goal and never looking to control or dominate the opposition. City have the mentality to football we should have. We are playing as a plucky underdog, doesn’t suit us or sit well with me in any way.

Yup embarrassing

it feels like people having a go at Jose because they don't like Jose to me (which I understand to a reasonable extent)

but this amount of stick based on 45mins of (very) poor footy at Anfield is not fair for me - in the context of how the season is going

We should aspire to be like City.
