Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

If the premiership was a 2 horse race between United and Liverpool, i'd have no problem playing this way at Anfield.

But when you know Mourinho is going to play this way against all of the top 6\7 teams in the league then you are in big trouble. You simply cannot setup to play for a draw against every rival and expect to win the league at the end of the season.

What I can’t understand is Mourinho saying he couldn’t be more positive due to not having more midfield options. Does he really believe having Fellaini in midfield would of helped you mount more counter attacks? You can’t counter attack teams if your wingers are playing as secondary full backs. The old Mourinho used to kill teams on the counter attack but he just doesn’t anymore.

Basically Gerard Houllier tactics.

silly Klopp, im sure Liverpool would forgive an away draw if it means you top the league.

No but Pogba would’ve helped.

  the obsession continues. Can't set a team up to defend, can't break down teams that play defensively, seems Jurgen wants to just play school yard stuff.

Speaking of styles of play, I wonder would he address questions on his teams exhibition of diving,

Sad, failure of a man

He's playing the percentages. Set out to draw. Draw most, knick a win here and there and take the odd loss on the chin. I do believe we will play like this in most of the "big" away fixtures. To be fair under Fergie we used to soak up lots of pressure away from home but we were devastating on the counter too. Absolutely none of that today.

Exactly. You're giving away 12 points before you even start.

Except that's exactly what he did at Chelsea a few seasons ago and they walked the league.

I hate how Mourinho plays these games but Klopp is such a pandering asshole, he is coming out with this shit to satiate the baying Anfield Hyenna's, he needs to worry about his toothless fannies and his ever diminishing record, cnut.

He has a point - I don't know what we tried to do that, but it had Little to do with football. This is the part of Mourinho I just can't stand. We have impressed, played brilliant football....and first sign of problems, we decide to stop playing football and put 10 men behind the ball.
Winning points has a lot to do with football. Last season none of the big teams managed more than a point at Anfield. Our title rivals lost.

We would have been able to match you up in midfield and someone like Matic would have been able to exert more control on our play. I don't think our wingers were playing as secondary fullbacks, that may have been the case in the fixture last season but not really today.

What I don't understand is why Klopp didn't sacrifice a midfielder and go for the kill, he likes to talk the talk.

This. Don’t know why people want to defend him. It’s not right and will cost us long term.

I actually agree with him for once. Liverpool fans would accept them playing like that, United fans seems fairly content. But maybe thats why they are the deluded bunch and our fans a bit more realistic.

I wouldn’t want us to play like that even at Old Trafford. I watch football for entertainment and I like to see my team attack, I would hate to see Mane and Salah playing as secondary full backs given their talent, the same applies to you with Martial and Rashford, you want them higher up the pitch running at defenders or into space.

You're also limiting the opposition from picking up points too. It's something that's hard to see right now but hopefully, we see it pay off.

Not sure i can bare 6 games a season where we just look so negative. This was a liverpool side in bad form and with real defensive issues. We should have at least had a go. Im happy with a point, but not happy with the way we went about getting it. I know Anfield is a difficult place for us. I felt so confident we could make a statement today :(.

Jose was right, Klopp could have gone for it and taken one of his midfielders off but he bottled it and didn't risk a thing, even though they're 7 points behind and at home.

I do, and we are not even talking Pogba.

When your midfield is Herrera and Matic you can only hope to grind it out, not run the show.

At times we looked marginally better than last year, but I suspect the most important thing Jose found out today was that he may have some good players that can follow orders, but he's short on 'big match' players who can 'steal' you victories in games like this. The movement outside the box that lead to Lukaku's chance in the first half was the only really good piece of play, from us today, except of course for David De Gea!

 Exactly

Klopp is moaning about it but knows the second he took one of his midfield 3 off they would fold

Yes I do, but most United fans are quite pleased, mainly because we didnt lose. I find it terribly negative and dont agree with such sentiments. However I can understand some prioritizing results above style.

Yes you can if you go and thump the bottom 12/13 teams in the league in the rest of the games.
I don't understand this logic that is being spouted by the media and people are buying into it.
Imagine we beat bottom 12 twice that's 72 points. Then we average a point in the remaining 14 games. That's 86 points.
That's gonna go pretty damn close to winning the league any year

Correct. Klopp just has no self accountability and their fans feed off excuses. He's not dumb. Well, tactically he is, but he knows how to keep in the fans good books.

Hopefully we show more cajones in the home games.

I understand both sides of the comments on here. A point at Anfield is always a good result, regardless of any circumstance. On the other hand, personally I would have liked to see United be slightly more adventurous and get Martial a bit more 1 on 1 against Gomez but I'm still happy with a draw all the same.

Case of glass half empty, half full I'd say!

I wouldn't worry just yet, Liverpool and Klopp have a cracking record against the top 6 for a reason, their style of play suits it. We'll play like this at Anfield and Etihad, but I expect us to be much more expansive in the other away games.

José was probably banking on that.

Both teams (or managers anyway) are scared of losing.

I always feel this first game between Utd and Liverpool always comes too early in the season, whether its at Anfield or Old Trafford, the visitors take few risks and whilst the home side takes the initiative its not a decent spectacle, it should be round about 13th or fourteenth game of the season not 8 or 9, that's computers for you!

Klopp can complain all he wants, the fact he isn't capable of taking advantage and winning the game reflects more on him than anything. Add to the fact his substitutions were bizarre, why would you take off your two most dangerous players?

I mean his words there are what everyone said would be a problem with Jose and eventually which has caused him to be moved on from clubs because he just doesn’t get it.
His approach you have to admire him for sticking to his guns when everyone will be screaming for some excitement and for him to give it a go. Willling to just play for draws in games he thinks he might lose is arguably what wins him titles.
Personally I prefer Pep and Klopps approach, but the war ship needed a patch job on it and Jose can do that.

Exactly this. Fans have seen the "style at all costs, only one way to play" rubbish from Klopp which hasn't won Liverpool anything. Yet keep criticising our Mourinho who adapts as the situation calls for and plays the probabilities.

Seems incredibly obtuse.

You're asking a lot for United to win home and away at every club outside the top 6...why not have a go at beating a rival?

Plus a few loses against a title contender and United are looking at a top 4 finish again.

I'm not buying into any logic spouted by the media and I've not been getting carried away with the incredible easy fixture list United have had so far either.

Today's tactics will never turn me on and whatever way you want to look at it, I will always expect better from a United side.

But I'm getting off topic!

Klopp is a twat and is perfect for a club like Liverpool...always has an excuse!

feck off klopp! if we have Pogba and Fellaini, I'm sure Jose wont set his team so defensive like today to face your team.

I don’t understand why United fans say this. Mourinho always parks the bus against any big team. I’m serious, I can’t recall a game where Mourinho has played a big side and not sat deep and look for a counter attack. The players he has is irrelevant, he will still play the same way and to be fair it works for him.At Madrid he would play a midfield three of Diarra, Khedira and Pepe.

We won't win them all but we also won't average a point against the remaining top 7 I would be pretty confident we will get pretty close to full points against them at home. It balances out.
But this is the formula to win the league. It's the formula fergie used for years.
We frequently went and played defensively at Liverpool with butt coming in to midfield for a striker for example but pretty much never did that against bottom half teams.
We had best record in league against the top 6 under LVG but dropped against poor sides. Where did that leave us.
Even last season we drew 10 games at home mostly against fodder.

Don't worry about the big games. We will always win o lose our fair share and the losses in derbies hurt but that won't decide whether we win the league. Demolishing the bottom half consistently does that.
