Reading those quotes
Liverpool won't be bolstering their squad like I thought they would.
Liverpool won't be bolstering their squad like I thought they would.
Salah improves them, Robertson is potential. But yeah, they're a long way from challenging for the big trophies with that squad. As long as Klopp feels this way, us United fans should be happy. Their squad has not improved in the slightest.
So after a full season of ignoring Moreno, Klopp has now decided that Moreno is a better LB than Milner and has moved Milner back into midfield. Shambles.
Which he is not anyway.
Besides if Coutinho stays and Lallana is fit again, they´ll set up with
Lallana Henderson Coutinho
Salah Firmino Mane
against the bottom half of the table, so what does he need Milner in midfield. He still has Wijnaldum, Can and Grujic. Milner can do the job as well as those guys, but what is the point.
More than everything else they need to replace Lovren at CB and Moreno at LB. They can get away with Robertson/Milner no problem, if they get a commanding DM, CB or GK that adds overall stability to their backfour.
"Milner in midfield is like a transfer", oh FFS Klopp, are you kidding me?! Feck off, really pissed by that comment. He wasn't enough last year when he was moved to LB, and now he isn't good enough to start in midfield but yeaaah it's totally like a new transfer.
I agree. It's baffling that we haven't done more to improve our defence. We're an injury to Matip away from having to line up with Clyne-Klavan-Lovren-Moreno, which is mid table quality at best.
Despite all lol's and laughs I think that Millner is a quality, albeit unspectacular, EPL player. Grossly underrated.
No white text to be found.
James Milner is the absolute epitome of the term bang average. His high work rate appeals to a very specific section of football supporters - typically those with low expectations such as Liverpool fans - but for me it simply masks the fact that his overal game is drastically lacking.
That Klopp appreciates does not come as a surprise, easily pleased as he is.

The Milner comment is ridiculous but I find the Robertson one weird too. I'm pretty sure most people thought he was pretty good.
Every time there's a new quote in the the title, I think one of the mods is trying to be funny.
For me it's not even mid table quality. Especially bringing Mignolet into it as well. Mignolet is maybe just mid table, Clyne is top 4 standard or thereabouts, Lovren is just about mid table and Klavan and Moreno are not good enough for the Prem in my book. Moreno might make it in the Championship as a winger but I don't even think he'd cut it there as a LB. Alexander-Arnold looks like a bit of a baller, maybe he could fill in at LB? Or I actually quite like Robertson, think he'll become a top 6ish quality player. But still, there remains the problem of Klavan.
I think the lols are because moving him into midfield is not like a new signing!
No value in the marketKlopp is doing a Wenger.
Love it! He probably has that in his mind anyway.
Regarding this transfer, Klopp said: I know people will say who ? Milner ? the left back from liverpool ? like they did with Robertson, Everyone thought: 'Robertson? From Hull? But he showed up against Palace. And Milner will do the same.
We pushed for Keyta but theNazisRB Leipzig didn’t want to respect the big club that we are. So we turned our attention to a player that gives you Stability, Experience and a certitude that you won’t get Ebola.
Asked about Coutinho and its current situation during Milner’s presentation, Klopp said : well there's nothing new to say about coutinho for now, obviously we want to keep all our players but like the professional club that we are, in addition to not scoring offside goals, we are always prepared for every kind of situation. So we are in contact with someone that can replace coutinho. We are in discussion with James Milner to resign him again to play in attack and the discussions are going very well. We may be able to announce him before the window ends.

I don't expect us to win the same amount of points vs the Top 6/7 teams as last season, I do however expect us to pick up more points against those that finish in the bottom half of the table that we dropped silly points to last season. So that could even itself out over the course of the season and we may end up with a similar total, or maybe even slightly more. But I suspect there is little to no chance of a title challenge. The telling thing will be whether Liverpool are still able to win against the likes of Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and City like they did last season. There's this assumption that they will automatically beat these sides and they just have to work out beating the lower placed teams.
I would be astonished if they got the same amount of points v United, Spurs, City, Arsenal and Chelsea as they did last season, i.e. came out top of the top six mini-league.
All of those sides, except perhaps Arsenal, have strengthened more than Liverpool have.
Cue Liverpool 4-0 up by HT on Sunday now I've said this
Yeah, I don't know. Robertson might turn out good, but our defence is still poor. Why we haven't bought a solid CB to partner Matip I'll never understand.
Well you will do if we end up signing VVD. However if we don't I'll be jumping across into your dinghy.Yeah, I don't know. Robertson might turn out good, but our defence is still poor. Why we haven't bought a solid CB to partner Matip I'll never understand.

You're assuming that two very young CBs who have never played for an offensive minded team playing without a DM would have improved us. I'm not sure about that but time will tell. But there were other more established options. It is on Klopp not identifying alternative targets. Just off the top of my head two PL cb transfers that would have improved you this season would have been Keane and Maguire, both a lot cheaper than VVD.
As evident by your failed mega-bids for VVD and Keita FSG has put the money on the table, blame the toothy one for failing to deliver.

Lots of chatter that it will from one of the Southampton ITKs on their forum. There is nothing to stop us bidding if they show a willingness to accept bids for him, it was only agreed we wouldn't initiate. So if they are willing to look at another club's bid, or Southampton decide to get rid anyway, then that throws open the door to all clubs.I thought the whole VVD saga was put to bed after the "tapping up" incident was unearthed.
Surely there is no chance of a deal in light of what has transpired.
