Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

Liverpool fans are so strange. The draws against United and Chelsa at home were not good results. Four points dropped which will have a massive impact on whatever hope they have of a league title (and this was absolutely their target this season - no matter how much they've recently lowered expectations) and yet after both games you get some of them coming on talking about how it was a good result for Liverpool. Absolutely bizarre behaviour.

Drawing away to utd is always a good result. Drawing at home to Chelsea who are running away with the league, whilst we're in the middle of a terrible run, is also a decent/good result. Our aim before the season was top 4 and vast majority of LFC fans have consistently said this throughout the season, even when we were flying. Title talk for LFC, on here, has mostly come from oppo fans preparing themselves mentally for a possible doomsday scenario.

Do you feel like you deserve to finish top 4?

At this moment in time yes that's why we are fourth at the moment

Gerrard thinks Liverpool deserved 3 points. . Crazy

A draw was the fair result

Not sure why he's complaining about the penalty. Thought it was a nailed on penalty.

It was shame the free kick that lead to the goal wasn't.

You got a lucky deflected goal, that's about it you sweet thing you. And also you ran out of steam badly and got saved by Mignot at the death.

Deflection for the goal yes. Great free kick that never should have happend yes. That's what keepers are for

Absolutely bizarre statement since that was never our target this season. If you think it was, then obviously our campaign has been a disappointment so far. However, since top four was actually our realistic target (and even mentioning that we should aim for top four this season was met with laughing smileys all over the Caf, says enough really) we're well on course to achieve that target. Please don't set false expectations for us which we never had in the first place.

You and Chelsea were setting the pace all season, more or less until Christmas. You were clearly in a title race. Not many people tipped Chelsea to win the league in the summer but that very quickly became their target. The exact same thing happened to Liverpool.

Everyone at the club would of been looking at the title, don't be naive

Drawing at home with anyone is a bad result. Or it should be.

Well that's palpable nonsense. The absolute target was top 4 with a hope that winning it like any team. But it certainly wasn't regarded as a great chance in the context of the strength of the top 6. Klopp is at Liverpool for 6/7 years in terms of his contract. He's absolutely building with patience. Getting top 4 gives leverage in the transfer market, which he needs to buy bigger and better.

Framing home draws against the top sides as poor results is frankly overreaching.

On course for 4th by dropping down the table like a lead weight.

As you are then.

I'm talking about your home games against United/Chelsea. Four points dropped in both those fixtures and you have Liverpool fans on here calling them good results. Mental. You're deluding yourself if you don't think you were in a title race this season. You still are ffs! Those dropped points have hurt you, though.

Fair point and you are ahead of us so we can't say we are any better

Klopp is disgusting though

Roll back a month and a lot of Liverpool fans we're talking about the title. Regardless of what your expectations were on August 1st, from the position you were in it's a bit strange to be celebrating 4 points dropped.

Am I the only one who thinks Klopp's assistant looks really creepy? I don't know what it is, he just creeps me out! I bet he has some sort of freaky basement.

Klopp's behaviour was out of order and in general I do not think think he sets the right kind of example (but neither does a Mourinho or Conte, or even did Fergie). However, I think it's petty for United fans to ask for Klopp to get banned for this incident, we should be better than that.

He looks like Snape from Harry Potter.

The club isn't asking for anything. Just fans having a moan. I couldn't give a toss, personally. I think Mourinho's been harshly treated but the whole punishing managers for showing emotion stuff gets on my tits anyway. Let them rant and rave. It's all part of the entertainment.

I meant the fans of course and edited my post before I read your reply :D

We're unbeaten against Utd and Chelsea this season - thats reasonable, even if 3 were draws. We're coming from 8th last season don't forget, even if that position was slightly skewed from EL run taking priority. If you're talking about readjusting our aims because of our good run then there is no doubt some people did that, not many on here. But overall the aim was top 4 - if we do that most fans will be happy. For me, being in a title race is challenging from March onwards.

Expectations change during the season. Before the season, I would've been over the moon if we got top four. Early December, we were definitely challengers and a title challenge was on the cards, yes (although all Pool fans on here remained cautious). Right now, our ambition should be top four again since all teams in the top 6 are very close to each other.

I'm not celebrating anything at the moment... From the position we were in, we were title challengers, but we just aren't anymore. The draw away to United was a good result if you look at the circumstances, but I was still disappointed about the result if you look at how the game went. Today is just two points dropped and nothing else - we had to win this game and should be disappointed with the outcome, no two ways about it.

Regardless of the target pre season, Liverpool were in a title race four weeks ago.

Sure all the Liverpool fans have gone back to their pre season goals now it's gone awry, but the aim when you were only a point behind should have been to go on and win it.

Imagine if Leicester last season had stopped playing once they got 40 points because their pre season goal was to stay up.

Liverpool have bottled it really. Leicester should always be used as an example of just what a huge level of underperformance the last 27 seasons have been on the league.

With vastly greater resources than Leicester, Liverpool have failed 27 seasons in a row.

It's great!

So not all Liverpool fans on here have drunk the kool-aid. That's a very reasonable post.

They are still in a Title race, that's why he (they) don't mind the draw.

Winnable home fixtures - plenty of them.

So Liverpool fans on here honestly didn't think they had a chance for the title at Christmas?
I thought we had a chance but at no point did I expect or actually think we'd win the league. We'll need to be ten points clear in April before I'll be conviced we're going to win the Premier League and even then I'd still think something would go wrong.

MOTD always show more of Klopp than they do the game. Does my head in.
What does my head in is the camera panning to some well-known twat in the crowd for 30 secs whilst the game is still in play, or like today when twice they showed replays of goal attempts whilst the match was going on ! Awful awful directing.

Least they could last 5 months
United bottled it in September

Indeed we did. Things have gradually improved though. In a cup final, still in two others and still within reach of top four.

I'm cautiously optimistic that we have the right man in charge and that he'll win us more trophies over the next few seasons.

After LVG and Moyes it's all good.

This was a great chance for them make no mistake. Unfortunately for them, Chelsea had no European football this season either.

I hope Klopp thought ditching the FA Cup was worth 1 precious PL point this evening.

I agree with their fanbase. He's clearly the messiah and will lead them to the promised land.

That's fair enough.

I just don't understand some Liverpool fans banging on about top 4, when there was a huge chance for the title. Though there is still a long way to go.

To be honest I wouldn't even gloat if we got in the CL, as other than money it doesn't mean a great deal, unless you can win it, which I think both clubs are a mile away at the moment.

Edit. Any fans banging on about top 4, not just Liverpool.

Kopp is building with patience? You made two cup finals last year and will not make one this year. Top 4 is only just in your own hands and you are heading in the wrong direction.

I thought we had a chance, but I always felt like we lacked the quality to win it. Everyone else seems to have at least one top class player who can drag them out of a hole. Our defence and keeper isn't anywhere close to title winning quality.

Actually the title of the thread is misleading. There was a pure Liverpool thread but in fact this took over and became the De Facto Liverpool thread (and has been all season if you'd followed it) because of the RedCaf's obsession with Klopp.

However it started out, though, it's now a thread about Klopp. In the same way that however Liverpool started out this season, they're currently shite. ;)

It's not an obsession. Not really. It's part of the rivalry. In truth it's an ill-placed sense of injustice coupled with the usual hatred directed against any Liverpool manager.

You're more on the right track than Rafateria, but you'll find that many United fans either liked Klopp or still do like Klopp. What's beginning to wear thin is how his antics aren't being scrutinized by a media that will happily flay other managers. It's just getting old. And Klopp's lack of class on occasion has been a genuine surprise to many of us.

...that he has gone full scouse.
