Nah, it's about Liverpool.
Nah, it's about Liverpool.
What did you make of Woodburns dive?Just for the heck of it then I'm back off to building my website which is a lot more fun / interesting :
Karius - 6 - let down by defenders not defending.
Randall - 3 - simply not good enough at even this level and is a slow, defensive, FB. Should never have been picked for this game.
Gomez - 5 - he's still very young and has just come back from what 12-18 months out ? feck off if you think you can determine how good he's going to be from the few minutes he's had since returning.
Klavan - 4 - he struggles against pace and should never have been selected for this game.
Moreno 3 - please go away and never come back.
Lucas - 2 - dear fecking Christ. Why are you still here ?
Wijnaldum - 4 - really poor game from him. Shocking because he's so much better than that.
Ejaria - 6 - I think this kid has something, an improvement on Can even now.
Firmino - 4 - zero support from midfield. Why oh why play him wide left when we all know that is his worst, least effective, position.
Origi - 5 - zero support from midfield. Often dropped deep to even see some of the ball (where he did OK TBH). A goal.
Woodburn - 6 - zero support from midfield. Better in the second half but he's 17 years old FFS. He's an out and out striker and he's being played as a makeshift winger / wingback ? When we also have Ojo (who played well when brought on the other day) and Wilson (very tricky and scores a lot of goals, 19 this season for the U23's), both speed merchants with skill, even if both very young, so really Klopp ... WTF ?
Subs.
Coutinho - 6 - couldn't do it alone, though he tried to.
Can - 4 - who ? I didn't even notice him, zero affect on the team. he's gone backwards this season.
Sturridge - 4 - he's gone hasn't he. Skill is still there but pace and willingness to put in the effort aren't there any longer.
Klopp - 0 - Wrong team (though I agree with saving some players for Chelsea, they've already had a very hard month and a few are just back from injury too), wrong substitutions, wrong tactics.
Sad indictment of your squad and mentality. The warning signs were there against Plymouth.
But despite that and also an EFL semi final exit just days before, and the fact that Liverpool have only won one trophy in the last decade, Klopp still puts out a weakened team in the FA Cup.
You deserve to finish out of the top 4 for that alone. Incredibly small time.
Then again, let's see how high you are in the league next season with a CL campaign running in tandem. That'll be fun.
This is why they and Spurs haven't really progressed despite having youthful squads and main rivals going through transitions, qualifying for the CL through finishing 4th is ingrained in them like its a mission statement. Achieve that they start acting like 13 time PL champions and then you see them resting players in a CL game so as to have a fresh squad in their chase for another 4th place finish. Pathetic mentality.Sad indictment of your squad and mentality. The warning signs were there against Plymouth.

Can you imagine the whining from him if they do & he has to play more than one game a week.
Sorry but you are still guessing as to longevity, none of us know how that is going to pan out until the season's over. And our kms run per match stats don't coalesce with reality.
Liverpool team continue to run further on average each game, month on month since the start of the season.....
Average Distance Covered Per Game (km)
August 115.3
September 116.5
October 116.7
November 117.3
December 118.2
January 118.7
Also, as I've mentioned numerous times, our small squad has been hit by injuries to most of our important players (Coutinho, Milner, Clyne, Sturridge, Henderson, Lallana) and absentees (Matip, Mane, Sakho) that it simply couldn't cope with, the matches where we played kids and squaddies and came up short proves nothing in regard to the first team, only that those kids are not ready and squaddies not up to the task .. and we knew that already, or surely do know if there was any doubt before.
Yes, I still think we'll make top $ which is what it was all about. Do note also that I've said many times I'd not be surprised if we were out of the Top 4 come the end of February because of the nature of our schedule, but that with Euro matches for our competitors and our relatively easy run-in in comparison to the other Top 5 teams who will often be playing each other, we have an edge.[
Maybe you should enter an athletics competition instead of persisting with football..
What's happened to Can? Haven't watched him a whole lot this season but he seemed to be well regarded, not just by Liverpool fans but in Germany as well. Reminded me of Khedira in more aspects than one.Ejaria - 6 - I think this kid has something, an improvement on Can even now.
No, it wasn't. Sturridge only had to put a foot on the ball and it was in, for both chances. Tadic really did have to try and lift it over a keeper who was out fast and closed him down.
Still really like Klopp. The caf is very bitter about him, which is fair enough because he's a Liverpool manager, but he's still a class act in my books. Thought he did well to take responsibility in the post match presser too.
The best two chances of the match .. by far .... were those Sturridge missed. Everything else, including Coutinho's, were half chances. So no, as usual, you saw what you wanted to see.
Yep! Couldn't stand the cap and tracksuit wearing gurner at Dortmund - dislike him even more now. There's always cries of bitterness anytime someone isn't adored universally.
Fact is it's got feck all to do with bitterness, there's absolutely nothing to be bitter about, he's just a bellend.

It is indeed weird: I find it hard to understand why a team that has not won a trophy for ages would prioritise top four over progressing in a trophy. It isn't as if they have a good chance of winning the champions league when they qualify. It's a very weird mentality and I think it probably explains why Liverpool have won so little in the last ten years.
Same goes for Spurs.
This is a reasonable assessment of where we stand. Obviously United fans are hoping / praying that this trough is permanent however it is highly unlikley that when we have all of our first team back and firing that results will continue to go astray and we won't regain our form. As I've just mentioned, injuries to our key players and absentees, have cost us as our small squad, that lacks much quality outside of the top 13/14 players, simply can't cope with the heavy demand of 9 games in a month with those key players absent.
We really should have done so much better against them.
That and Klopp really knows how to play against MourinhoWe should have but there were mitigating factors I think.
This season they've beaten Arsenal and Chelsea away, beaten City at home and haven't lost to us or Spurs. They raise their game against their rivals, I don't know why. It must be a mentality thing. I fully expect them to get something from the game on Tuesday against Chelsea.
To face all those teams and be unbeaten and yet lose to Swansea and Bournemouth and Burnley and Wolves and Southampton etc is ridiculous. We still should have beat them though yeah, our performance was sloppy.
You could say the same about your two games vs Stoke, alongside Burnley and West Ham at Old Trafford. In the end it comes down to being good enough or not and too often, United haven't been good enough to turn dominance into wins.We really should have done so much better against them.

Nah the Liverpool game we just didn't play well. We had a few chances to score but we weren't dominant.
I was happy to take a point by the end.

Digest this from 2nd Jan onwards (not you personally per se, but maybe others):
Sunderland 2-2 Liverpool (D)
Liverpool 0-0 Plymouth (D)
Southampton 1-0 Liverpool (L)
Man Utd 1-1 Liverpool - Yes At Old Trafford!! (D)
Plymouth 0-1 Liverpool (W)
Liverpool 2-3 Swansea (L)
Liverpool 0-1 Southampton (L)
Liverpool 1-2 Wolves (L)
That's 8 gmes of pure tumescent shit from us. Unadulterated filth. 8 games where Swansea, Wolves, Southampton went to town on our asses. And the rest had an easy ride, including Plymouth.
And who is there slap bang in the middle of that poor run? Utd. What did they achieve against the likes of Lovren, Can, Trent Arnold and Klavan? The same thing Plymouth did. At the Threatre of Dreams. And you're happy with a point because some fans here will quote "form goes out of the window in these games, blah blah". 8 games of unrecognisable crap we have been wading through.
Have to agree with this. Especially because liverpool didn't play a worldie at OT. They were just as bad as they've been this month, united really put in an effort to not win that game

I'd argue Chelsea have been injury free for the most part. Why make out you've had some injury crisis when you really haven't. Coutinho has been missing and Mane went to AFCON. If your squad can't cope with that then perhaps Klopp should be sacked after all.
You've had no more issues than anyone else this season.
and this should make us grateful that Glazzers family is not stingy. besides I doubt that losefool can attract big name players to give immediate impact for their team. well, their fans are very happy with a player like Jordan Fecking Henderson.Plopp will continue to struggle at Liverpool whilst FSG are in charge as they won't sign the calibre of player and be able to meet his wage demands the likes of us, City, Chelsea and even Arsenal can.
When they DO find a gem like Suarez or more recently Coutinho, they usually sell for profit.
