Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

Hmmm. Klavan barely played. Matip has been outstanding - look at his record when in compared to out the team. But do go on.
Matip looked terrible vs West Brom.
As did Lovren and Karius looks worse than Simon Migde.. We have to go down to 11th place to find a defensive unit as bad a yours. Matip might be Ok but the rest of your defence isn't good enough but isn't he leaving for the CAF in the begining of next year or isn't he being picked?

What has been RAWK's reaction to this fiasco? How do they feel about Carragher?

Can't stand to check but I'd imagine it'll be something along the lines of the reaction on here to Scholesy slating us these last 3 seasons.

Well it turned out Scholesy was right, and shut up lots of our fans who wanted him to toe the club line. I think Carragher may be right too but 'Pool fans don't want to hear it.

Matip has the odd bad game, but has been mostly excellent tbf, and IIRC he's declined going to the cup of nations.

I assume you mean West Ham but Matip didn't really look terrible in my opinion. Misjudged the flight of a deflected ball for Antonio's goal but apart from that I thought he was as he's been all season which is a very solid CB.

He isn't going to the ACON. He was asked to go by Cameroon's manager but decided not to.

The paranoia is in full flow again!
What with United roaring back into the title race as well, this is really the last thing we needed

Wish he'd just kept his mouth shut.

Wouldnt be surprised if this is Jose advising the wise Nevilles. Mindgaming the feck out of everyone.

I like these ones
The Neville brothers are horrible and failed managers/coaches. And I have never liked Carragher and his views on foreign players if I am honest. An average footballer but hard working who was made to look good by a brilliant Rafa.
I stopped having any respect for him or Gerrard when they had no respect for Rafa, also when they said feck all against the two cancers who nearly killed our club.

I don't know man, Carra and Neville just seem like two bitter English players ganging up on the young foreign upstart. I'd like to see them being as critical on someone like Stones for example, as they've been with Karius.

Karius has been woeful, and his reaction to Neville's criticism was ill advised, but the tradeoffs since then have been unnecessary.

What's with all these 'objective' comments defending Klopp/Liverpool? Gary is a pundit, it is within his right to criticize current players. He maybe bias but who's not and what's wrong with it? He is not a referee. The reality is, Gary commented on a player's performance as he is a pundit but for Klopp to make it personal shows it got him under the skin.

Klopp LOL. He is cracking up already after a few disappointing results.
There's basically no sense in what he is saying. A keeper who drops points shouldn't be criticised, at least not by a pundit who played for another club, or who's been sacked as a manager.
That's almost as bad as the Suarez dracula nags, except dear Luis acted in a heat of the moment.

He really needs a winter break.

The only reason Klopp gives a feck about Neville's (correct and widely-shared) criticism towards Karius is he respects Neville's opinion!! If Joe Bloggs from the pub or Andy Townsend made those remarks, who would care? No one.

Neville is more than qualified to talk about football. Those who claim otherwise are bitter, or just spouting nonsense. He has had a long, successful and illustrious career in the sport (4 months as manager at a struggling club does not change this). In fact, his managerial experience makes him arguably more qualified than someone like Carragher, who hasn't had that exposure to this aspect of football.

Klopp defending his player is hardly surprising. The shot at Neville's coaching career was a little unnecessary, but I think too much is being made of it. Most managers would be the same I imagine - Jose certainly.

No it isn't. Saying someone has been poor is normal, attacking someone saying they are not good enough in such a definitive manner .. this early into someones first season especially at the age the guy is at and in the goalkeeper position. Seems unfair and if I was a manager, I'd be pretty pissed off. Someone like Jose would lose his shit for sure.
That is what I don't like about many pundits, how fecking sure they seem to be about players.

Neville played at the top level for over a decade and won every single trophy going. A few bad months in his first management job don't suddenly mean he isn't allowed an opinion on football.

He's much more qualified than most pundits to give his view, most of whom have neither managed nor played at the top level.

Plus, he was absolutely spot on. Karius is a donkey! If Karius doesn't want those in the media speaking about him why has he himself been speaking to the media this week? It's braindead. Deserves every bit of flak coming his way (1) for being a shit keeper and (2) for mouthing off in the press.

This

Completely behind Klopp on this one. Has every right to defend his players. Gone right off Mr G Neville in the last 12 months. Comes across as the school yard bully

Nothing wrong with what Klopp said. Too many knickers in a twist in here.

Just love it really, the media pressure is now focused towards Liverpool. Just hope United can get into a winning run to make it worse. Well done the Neville brothers!

Particularly funny when I think how much the likes of Souness have slaughtered United for 3 years and nothing gets said even though he is a biased Liverpool loving pundit.

I quite like Souness as a pundit.

Just imagine Jose had attacked Souness' managerial career to defend his judgement? The media would be all over it. Angry Mou this, not respecting club image that. With Klopp it's just hitting back?

It's like the ridiculous fawning over Pep, despite City's downturn. The Telegraph has seen fit to take shots at United, yet happily says we should go easy on Pep. Has anyone seen any pieces comparing where City was a year ago under Pellegrini to where City's now..? United is always measured by a different yardstick.

Idiotic from Klopp. Now every performance from karius will be over analysed to death. Should just buckle down and take the heat from pundits as they are paid to do it.

If Mourinho said boo to a fecking ghost, you'd be calling for his head and saying how he's classless and a disgrace

JM has said and done worse things many times over, he's a long time established khunt. This is new territory for Klopp.

What do you want them to do? Not say anything about any players...create some sort of safe space?

They're right, he should focus on his job. The best retort he can give them is by establishing himself properly as Liverpool's number one.
I want them to not act like dickheads when they dish out casual criticism. They in fact were the ones to start suggesting the other side should shut up. Even as pundits, it seems they can't handle criticism.

I have outed myself as Klopp fan quite a few times and always hoped he will be the one taking over from Fergie. Despite his "normal one" attitude he had those Kind of emotional and sometimes stupid moments as Long as he was Coaching in Germany as well.
Football is an emotional affair so I do not see the big issue here. Neville`s whole fame as pundit is based on him dealing out blows left and right so he should be able to take it. Not much to see here.

And everybody saying that Klopp has not reached anything with Liverpool yet must be blind. Most People here had a laugh when he took over and some of us predicted he will turn them into top 4 or even title contenders.
However, I thought it will take him at least 2 or 3 years. It seems he needed only 1.

He's just backing his keeper in a very public way, nothing wrong with it reaĺly. From Day One there he's always understood the need to be adverse to us, its part of his role there.

Yeesh. Don't think this was the best way to respond to coming under fire. I'm sure we all remember how badly De Gea was slaughtered when he first came here. When you compare how he handled it at the time with Karius'...

"When you do things wrong - even though it's [only] a couple of mistakes - the press has every right to criticise you," said De Gea.

"Especially when you're a goalkeeper, who is always under the spotlight. What happened is something normal, no big deal.

"It's in my hands to change those early negative criticisms into praise.

"I'm improving in every training session and every match, but above all keeping intact my confidence in my ability."

That is not the problem. The reason he cares is because he knows what neville and carragher are saying is right. Thats what his problem is, his player is not working out so well (so far), and he does not like it being pointed out so publicly.

Klopp appears to be little more than a fragile ego covering raging anger in a manchild suit.

West ham yes... Good man saying no to the national team.. But my point stands even if Matip has been Ok or even great this defence as a unit isn't good enough and your keepers are not even close to your competitors, Courtois, Cech,Lloris,De Gea... Bravo well..

Its the classical 'manager trying to divert the pressure from his player/team over to the unlikeable pundit' strategy. Gaz has the right to say the hell he wants same as Klopp. Get over it.

What a stupid argument. Gary is a pundit, it's his job to talk about players, his failed management career is irrelevant. If the only people who were allowed to talk about players were successful managers, there wouldn't be many pundits on TV.

Phil got criticised yet he's spot on - the player should shut up and get on with it. He's right. Klopp comes across as totally unhinged and rattled, two poor results and he already looks like he's losing the plot. I wouldn't fancy him to hold his nerve at the business end of the season based on this evidence. Total shit show all around.

If Mourinho said boo to a fecking ghost, you'd be calling for his head and saying how he's classless and a disgrace

And he'd be right to. There's no excuse for scaring the bejeezus out of unsuspecting geese.

I don't think Klopp has been 'rattled'. I don't agree with what Klopp's said but if you watch the press conference he's pretty relaxed about it all. It was just strange to bring up Neville's managerial failings like they have some kind of relevance towards his opinions as a pundit.

I don't think anyone would have made a big deal out of this if he'd simply left out the Valencia insult at the end.

I think most of are just sitting back with the popcorn and waiting to see how this affects Karius.

These rants in the media usually go brilliantly for LFC.
I can only think of Benitez that would be a relevant example?

I don't get this logic. If anything he has managed to attract even more pressure and attention to Karius.

All eyes will be on Karius tomorrow. Karius will probably be the main talking point at the Boro team meeting today.

Klopp refuses to answer questions on the situation but is effectively forced into commenting by persistent questions.

I can answer Klopp's question regarding why Neville is allowed to comment on Karius' performances and perceived abilities.

It's called 'freedom of speech' Jurgen. You know the thing you are enjoying when you make your counter-comments and criticisms of the Nevilles.

A nothing story when you put it in these terms. Two grown men who are clearly qualified to discuss football, exercise right to freedom of speech in order to give opinions on football related matters.

Stop the presses.
